The player is portrayed as the rebel by default, but is also the core of the Horde war effort. You hand Sylvanas the knife but are also railroaded into opposing her.

What does the PC really want?

EDIT: Also, for engineers & blacksmiths the Hovercraft ATV mount seems to be finally coming in 8.2, which is cool.

I guess that is right. Blizzard treats the PC as a self-insert for the players, and that is what players want.

I mean, the truth is that Blizzard treats the PC not as a character but as a tool (AND BOY DO I FEEL LIKE A TOOL THIS EXPAC HO HO!).

Deathlord, The Champion of the Horde, the Champion of Azeroth, the Scarab Lord, the Hand of A’dal, Blackwing’s Bane, Light of Dawn, Liberator of Orgrimmar…they’re not a character. They’re a weapon, an autonomous weapon that you slot gold and gear into for a result.

Blizzard didn’t have to make it this way. TOR has your playable character be a character. I’m told FF14 does as well.

They just don’t want to, 'cos then the PC might get in the way of Jaina and Anduin and Sylvanas and Saurfang.

Edit: Hard topic switch. From datamine it looks like they’re adding a bunch of new alchemy consumables that are just “Flasks…but better” and “Potions…but better”, so you may want to drop any stored flasks+pots with Crucible rather than save them.

I expect some existing mats (like anchor weed) will still be needed though, so the above is just for already-made alchemy items, not for herbs.

I’m not familiar with the other professions to comment on what they’re adding for those.

Whatever. I’m just happy for the tauren heritage scenario so far. It looks like a badass version of Simba and Mufasa with Baine and Cairne beating up bad spirits and Cairne guiding Baine.

Glad the tauren finally got thrown a bone. Also, gimme that sexy heritage.

Also, new raid sets suck. Like, they are legit horrible. Especially mail one.

In fairness, this game has never had player choices that actually change the outcome of the story. Whatever ones opinion about it, good or bad, it has always been a railroaded story.

Even more reason to make the player character an actual character and not just a sword with legs.

Take me back to when the factions or independent groups cleared the content and the player character was just a walking video recorder for the most part.
