[SPOILERS] Patch 8.2.5 spoilers

You got it wrong, they changed the model to be a battle pet for both factions.

They wont be on the Alliance don’t worry - the Alliance ruined that chance when they set their ‘despoilers’ on the Vulpera caravans (we both know they’re actually purge squads but they had their names changed when Alliance players got upset about committing war crimes  )

Anyway, Vulpera will likely be the Horde allied race while Mechangnomes will be the Alliance allied race. Likely in 8.3.5 or something since it seems unlikely it’ll be in 8.2.5 (sadly)

But isn’t that how the saying goes?

“If you want to make friends , burn their house down with Despoilers.”

Can’t wait!

Nor can I!!

Mechagnomes would be another allied race with a leader that would rule two factions, just like Moira.

Talanji could technically cover both zandalari and Darkspear because of the whole Troll /Empire thing.

Alternatively, the mechagnome allied race quest could involve the restoration of Mekkatorque using their technology.

Vulpera and mechagnomes is the obvious route they’re going to go down though. I’m still struggling what exactly the vulpera brings to the Horde that makes them worth allying with though.

Highmountain Tauren, a mighty breed of tauren blessed by Cenarius himself.
Nightborne, ancient elves with a unrivalled understanding of time, space and the arcane.
Void Elves, the only beings who possess an intimate understanding of the Void and connection to it without being fully corrupted by it.
Lightforged Draenei, they’re connected the Light on a level unlike any other and are multi-millennia veterans of warfare.
Mag’har Orcs, they bring with them the technology of the Iron Horde, that the Horde chose to abandon for some reason.
Dark Iron Dwarves, they’ve got the finest wielders of fire magic and makers of golems in all of Azeroth.
Kul Tiran Humans, they possess(ed) a mighty armada and a connection to the seas unlike any other race.
Zandalari Trolls, an ancient race with a strong connection to gargantuan animal gods that literally fight beside them.
Mechagnomes, technological masterminds who do not allow themselves to be limited by the flaws of their flesh.

… And then you have vulpera, who are desert-dwelling scavengers without any magical or technological expertise, or even any biological advantage over other races. What good are they to the Horde, are they just being brought in as couriers or something?

Alliance are big on bloodline rulership though, so Erazmin should still be their leader by virtue of birth.

If they bring more than they take then they’re of value. Vulpera will be used to making do with minimal resources, so presumably wouldn’t have a high cost for the Horde to integrate, while offering skills (military, trading, scavenging, survivalism) that, yes, others might also offer but more help doesn’t hurt.

No war can be fought without adequate transport of supplies: food, arms, armour, water, information, messages etc - you need that to fight a war. Vulpera are good at transporting these things, which is what they’re doing in Vol’dun that gets them attacked by Alliance.

Also the Vulpera are hardy survivors, and take on foes much bigger than themselves. They’re tough and know how to fight, and bring much needed variety to the Horde. Also they dont take much in the way of resources, so you have a fighting force ideal for small skirmishes or scouting, which take up little resources, who know how to survive off the land.

Perfect really

Vol’dun is a very harsh desert, even compared to some of the other WoW deserts.
This would be useful for Guerrilla soldiers, because surviving in harsh environments on little to nothing is an incredible skill. add in the fact that they are great scavengers and you have possibly one of the most well adapted guerrilla soldiers in the world.

Please don’t do this to me.

The gnomish royal bloodline left, and if they want to play their game of thrones in Mechagon, that’s fine, however Gnomeregan is independant

The Horde has always had a problem with not having enough resources to sustain itself, in particular the Orcs having to knock down Ashenvale to keep themselves fed. Would be cool if the Vulpera could come in and give them some hot tips on how to stretch out what they’ve got.

I’d watch the heck out of this

I’m just trying to picture how Sylvanas will react to their recruitment.

“So, you are saying that you don’t bring anything new to the Horde, except for your self-sufficiency? Well, I suppose I can just drop you on a particularly arid front and leave you there to fend for yourselves, without needing to worry about logistics. Welcome to the Horde.”

Who said it was Sylvanas recruiting them, remember, Talanji is her equal, and the Vulpera have a debt to be repayed as Kiro said.

Well, the Highmountain, Nightborne and mag’har and Zandalari bring nothing new to the Horde either.

sOOOO… :man_shrugging:

Well, I’d see her putting them into skirmishes and defence - as Dudflex said, guerrilla forces. The usefulness of these forces cannot be understated. Just look into IRL history to see for yourself. If you have forces that know the land, and can survive with little, you’ll have the perfect storm.

People assume vulpera are useless because they’re small and ‘cute’. They’re extremely fierce fighters, ex slaves, who know how to survive in the harshest conditions. Well worthy of a place in the Horde, I’d say.

Hail King Erazmin, First of his Name. King of Gnomeregan and the First Gnomes, Protector of Mechagon.

When they teach orcs how to survive in durotar better on less resources thus freeing up tens of thousands of gold in support from the Horde treasury, it’ll all be worth it.
