Stockholders dont like classic

Classic is already the biggest and most popular MMORPG. Beats Retail, FFXIV, ESO, whatever.

What are you talking about?

I’m saying this since the verry start, dont get you’re hopes up for classic.
A multy million compangy cant alow there 15year old products have more succes than there latest ones.
Specialy not the ones who want to be at the top in innovation, of there respected area.

Actualy classic have helped retail, even with patch 8.2.5 that only had the anniversary event, many server have gone from medium to high.

There are more people playing retail than classic, espiacly with a new patch coming out in 2 weeks

Couldn’t have said it better myself.
If we let Classic die then it will only prove that J Allen Brack was right:
We thought we did, but we didn’t.
Yes Classic isn’t perfect but at the end of the day it’s better than constantly fearing that the server you’re playing on could be shut down any day or having to lose out to players who paid for an advantage or have to put up with corrupt GMs that larger guilds can buy out to screw over their competitors.

That was one of main reasons people in My guild not even tried any pirate servers. Image You have 100 days played and they shut down

depends how far you go and with that though. I can agree with going back to older expansions ways in the way that there’s less checklists to cross off each day via daily quests and azerite/artifact power farming and gear coming from 100% RNG rather than currencies & vendors.

what I wouldn’t want to go back on is the reasons I actually play retail since cataclysm, that makes classic not a game for me, and that’s things like:

  • no arenas
  • no competitiveness whatsoever
  • game focused more on the “journey and not the destination”, i.e: leveling for 200-250 hours and running every imaginable dungeon on the way to max, then spend most of the time at max raid logging.
  • very little to do at max compared to modern-er expansions
  • no transmogs, no mount alternatives, no weapon illusions, very few tabards, no pokemons (not for me but some like it), basically cool cosmetics to work for when you aren’t progressing.
  • flying is a thing I could live without, but it’s not something most retail players would like right now, and it would never work considering old zones designed around it.

many more things to mention but I think I’ve made my point. the games are split into 2 audiences. one that values social interaction and playing the game as a whole, and one that likes the end game over everything else and wants more challenges in the game rather than pure time investment.

even people who half of year ago were in love with classic dont like it anymore

want proof ? check server pop

classic is dying fast.

Everything will end one day, even WoW.

but it will not change fact, release of classic, one of best moves of bad blizzard.
classic have no support except of funbase.

I’m just waiting for TBC serwers had most fun there

Yeah buddy im sure the 11 months subscription you’ll pay until shadowlands comes out is going to “support” classic and not go into shadowland’s development.

Shareholders do not invest in classic or retail or even wow. They invest in the entire company and everything that comes with it.

However I do feel classic is being shafted by blizzard. There’s barely any blizz posters on the forums apart from copy and paste generic stuff. There’s bots and bugs everywhere and not a word from blizzard. Even the GMs don’t seem to be able to do anything these days except say to post on the forums. I’m sure they are reading the posts, but they need to update us on things.

Some people say they are deliberately sabotaging classic to make people go to retail, but i expect the majority of people would just quit wow altogether and not move to retail. It’s so far from the original game that it may as well be a different game.

I’ll never quit classic anyway. I waited years and years for official servers and I’m still having a great time and 99% of the people I have met have been great and fun to play with.

y’all know that Blizzardians are on beaches drinking Margaritas on their winter break now dont ya? They don’t gaf about a few bots roaming about. They’ll ban em all in a wave later.

What exactly do you expect Blizzard to do?
The only thing Blizzard needs to do with classic is to keep the servers online lol.

Where are you reading this exactly?

Classic was never going to be a success. If you thought anything else you were fooling yourself sadly.

It will never bring in good $$$$ like retail. Classic was a little side project to boost retail development. Funny, I wanted to unsub the moment classic launched as I’m not paying for the support of a 15 year old Garbo game, but then the real plan occured to me.

after all, classic succeeded.

Succeeded at making 2019 blizzard’s third quarter very good.

“World of Warcraft¼ Classic” drove the biggest quarterly increase to subscription plans in franchise history, in both the West and East." - quote from activision blizzard third quarter report.

A game with all the content already created 15 years ago and needs no further investment was always going to succeed. Im not sure if that was the type of success players wanted though.

Wow after WotLK is pretty much WoW 2 to me. And it’s worse then the prequel.

Just think of it this way.

The money from classic will be going on a few things.

  1. Money for keeping servers up
  2. The 2-3 members of the devs maintaining classic.
  3. Goes onto retail development instead.
  4. Goes onto diablo mobile as well.

The people saying “My sub shouldn’t go towards retail” - What else is your money going to go towards?
