Sub too expensive

Welp, it’s a game…so, unless you are at the bleeding edge of content for achievs and mounts, it could be argued there are not many things you absolutely ‘MUST’ do now… with the exception of Longboi.

‘Dailies’ were a thing in TBC and they were, daily…so, this is not new.

If you cannot afford £9.99 a month for entertainment, dropping the sub price, will not change the challenges you face irl… and, there are free MMORPGs out there.

No, there is not… there is no centre ground on fascism, with ‘good people on both sides’ nonsense.
You are either for it, or against it.
My Greatuncle was a Hurricane pilot and my Grandfather was SOE, so I already rolled against.

Every time I see something along the lines of “the sub/game is expensive” or “this game is bad” I wonder why people aren’t voting with their wallets. If you didn’t like the food ,service or even the prices in a restaurant for example you simply wouldn’t return however WoW has these people returning on a month by month basis despite all the complaints.

Sure you can say some of it is addiction however I don’t believe this is the case for everyone with this mindset.

I think if they reduced the price people would still complain about it as well.

Means testing the price for a whole country is wrong and it’s even more wrong to do it on a personal level.

As most people know the Euro price has not gone up since 2005 so the price has actually decreased by about 25% in real terms.

Even in the UK, the only place where the monthly price has gone up is still less than it was in 2005 in real terms.

well lets analyze this then.

Only democrat run cities experiencing devastating riots that is literally burning down low income housing and black owned businesses, mobs of people murdering children and adults, the democrat mayors refuse to stop it till they show up outside their houses then suddenly they try to end it but not a moment before, they screm to abolish the police, then hire private security to protect them then they blame donny boy for sending in feds to put a stop to the killing and riots. yeah but its totally not democrats tho right?

Might want to change where You get your news because it sounds pretty bias to me.

the irony is the left were the ones in the us who fought to keep slaves.

I see it the other way around; it means the citizens of richer countries don’t get ripped off.

Look; it sucks to be poor. But if you can’t really afford to play this game, you shouldn’t be playing it. There’s far more important things in life than games.

They’re all way too expensive with regards to the broader gaming market. But Blizzard are not competing on price, they’re competing on product. And love or hate it, but they do have a product that a lot of loyal customers are willing to pay a lot of money for.

But yeah, Blizzard are making money hand over fist in regards to WoW.
I don’t personally suffer from it, as I have the money to spare. But there are inevitably some people – young, poor, etc. – who would like to play WoW, but who aren’t able to afford the high pricing. And that’s sad. Blizzard’s business model for WoW is the highest barrier to entry by far. Premium pricing for premium gaming.

i have heard in some countryes wow sub costs even 20 euros a month just becourse their money walue is low. this is so BS some pay 12 euros and some pay 20 euros for same thing.

I don’t think sub price is too high. Eso and ff14 cost pretty much the same so I think it’s a standard mmorpg price. And those 2 have even more store items then wow does.

I don’t think that’s true tbh. The price is the same price for all which is what the OP is complaining about.

There was an exception at one point when people in the UK where paying less because of inflation/currency rates and Blizzard increased our price by £1 to make it “fair”

Chinese players pay per hour though, Afaik.

That’s pretty easy to avoid. Blizzard can charge you based on where you’re officially living and not where your Internet connection is from. You provide them proof of address (KYC documents) and that’s how you get to pay the country’s set price.

Honestly, I don’t get why people here seem to have a difficult time understanding that not all countries have the same pay rates. When you want to sell something in a specific country, you adapt to their pay rates and sell prices - not those of your company’s country of origin. This is a well-established fact. If what the OP says is true, I see why players from that country would be upset, as having access to the game is almost a privilege compared to players from other countries. Just because R250 equals to €13 does not mean they have the same value (that’s what it should mean, but currency exchange rarely does it nowadays). If in Western countries you earn €13 in one hour, but in the OP’s country you need to spend a whole day to earn the equivalent of €13, then it’s not the same, and they’re actually charging more to players of this country.

This is ultimately on Blizzard though. They’ll have to choose whether they want more players paying less with national currency or keeping the current statu quo for some reason.

We’re in the EU. If they don’t want to get paid dirt they can just move to an economically strong nation and then look at that they don’t need to care about the WoW sub fee.

In essence though - If you can’t afford the WoW sub then you’ve way bigger problems that you should take time away from the game to fix.

And the OP is from South Africa.

And if Blizzard wants to attract more players in Africa they should adapt to their pricing customs - like they do already with the EU and China.

Another evidence of people not understanding that €13 in certain countries means, in essence, over €100 in other countries.

There isn’t enough of a market in Africa to justify giving them anything.

Again, if 9.99 is too much for you then you have bigger problems than WoW and need to fix your life first.

But they also compete on product, not price.

Alongside WoW, those two are in the top 5 of premium MMORPG games. In a list that contains hundreds of MMORPGs on the entire market. Most of them low-quality, low-budget games with lower costs. WoW and ESO and FFXIV are the Coca-Cola and Pepsi and Dr. Pepper on the MMORPG market. They’re premium products. They cost the most. But you’ve got a long list of similar MMORPG products on the market too, that are a lot cheaper, but also a lot more unknown, and a lower quality.

€13 isn’t too much for me. Paying more than €100 a month for playing a game would be, though.

If the quality is higher then it’s worth it to pay more for me :smirk:

… Exactly. If it’s too much for anyone they need to sort their lives out first before spending money on leisure activities.
