Subscription Fee is a joke now

What is the point of the subscription fee feels like a cash grab at this stage. It felt ok at launch and because online gaming was quite a new concept 15 years ago in 2004 its a standard for most games now.

The whole to pay for the servers BS is clearly not the case many other games with bigger and much smaller playerbases do fine without a Sub fee and manage to run customer service just fine.

At least let people play for the content they purchased. and buy updates if they want.

Ive brought the base game and 6 expansions for £45 each and about
36 months of game time
At least £600+

Now i cant access it unless i pay a subcription you own nothing in WOW and never really own the game its just access to it.

They have 3 payment models at once here pay to play, Subscrition and a cash shop + you pay for all services.

The worse part is the game is ancient pretty low quality by todays standards and does not justify the money there asking in my opinion.

Other gaming/tv services offer so much more fore your money

I pay for netflix great value.

Xbox games pass i get 100+ games and new ones added every month, Great value

Playstation plus free entire games every month. Good Value

WOW i get to access a game ive already paid for… Terrable Value like 0

even EA access makes WOW look patheticly poor value.

You pay to be able to use servers.

Yeah, WoW is hideously expensive. Hopefully, at some point in the future, the game will become more affordable. For now Blizzard obviously keep the business model that they have, because it’s insanely profitable. Maybe eventually that will change.

the fact that some justify the fee ‘‘to get good servers and customer service’’ is pathetic (probably attempt to get ‘‘karma points’’ or whatever its called here)

why?
because CS is a joke, not even 24/7, long ticket waiting times, staff fired and subcontracted CS to cheaper providers irelevant to wow etc
because a single assault crashes the servers with major lag etc
because on game launch it was unplayable
because on full pop realms there is a queue whenever a major content patch arrives
because on full pop realms AH/Gbank is LAGGY 24/7/365

the game shop never lags for comparison. what a joke

Expensive?? It’s £9.99 a month, show me what else you can do at that price for a month?

you can buy many games at that price point on sales or offline gameshops (physical cd) and play it with mods/multiplayer etc. (eg CK2)

Remove the sub fee and what do you think we will get in its place?

Want to do some raids on HC or even mythic! “HC access only 10.00. Mythic access-10.00. Buy the whole combo for the best price of 15.99!”

How about some arenas or BGs? But ofc. Want to experience more than 1 arena or 1 bg! Unlock more bgs and arenas! Only 4.99 each!

How about gear? Elite pvp set. ON SALE for 19.99!

Show me how many ‘aaa’ games you can buy for less than £40!

In the gaming market I can get a lot of gaming content for £9.99. Blizzard don’t actually give me very much relative to what I can get from Microsoft with Xbox Live or Sony with PlayStation Plus, or what have you.
WoW is very highly priced on the gaming market.

show me what games you pay 12euro per month plus 59 euros for the expansion that lags on day 1 and day 100

I disagree totally, £9.99 for unlimited playtime for 30 days is cheap, unless ofc if a player can’t afford that, then it’s a question of priorities

and now there is

buy token only 20 euros!
sell token on AH 150k
buy mythic+ boost.
full mythic gear wow amazing content, gear progression, play to win!! (def not pay2win /s)

the ad-hominem ‘‘you cant afford 12 euros game then ur not for gaming’’ is old and irelevant

anyone who pays to play wow today at this state, can definitely afford it.

it’s a question ‘‘is this game worth my 12 euros?’’

  1. more players

2.Devs would have to come up with regular quality content people want to buy.

3.a far better game overall

It’s not a question of what anyone can afford, it’s a question of how much value you get for your money.

Take humble bundle as an example. For $12 per month they give you ~10 games worth ~$200 each month. That’s insane value.

With Blizzard you’re paying $10 per month for a single game experience worth ~$45. That’s not a comparable value.

Yet all the other times gives you unlimited playtime, or do you think that CoD gives good value at £50 for what, 30 hour single player playtime, which when done, sits on the shelf waiting for the next incarnation

I would agree to be it pay to win. If you HAD to pay real life cash to play m+s.
There are other alternative routes.
Pay to win = Only real life cash can get it what you want. No other routes available.
Pay so I can get carried, the path of least resistance= Is not pay to win

You get excellent value for money, sorry but that’s just the way it is, and ofc it’s a question of affordability, £50 for a game that gives you a short single player experience, or £40 for an expansion that is added to over the two year life span?

To the people who want to see WOW go FTP, I have played other MMOs where they had a sub, and then went FTP.

It was in every case an unmitigated disaster that eventually leads to “buy your lootbox key if you want gear”.

Or “buy the new quest area now” or “you want to craft, buy your profession now”.

If anything if you want to progress in any meaningful way in an FTP game it will end you costing you more than a WOW sub.
