Ok, so on an alt with no trust level at all, i actually dont have the option to ignore or mute at all… (sinaaki)
I do get the forever option on my TL2 char though. I dont have any TL1, so cant investigate further…
Nah, its january 14th this year. And u need a few things before you get TL1, dont remember the exact criteria. So chars with no TL cant ignore or mute at all it seems.
Edit: see now that u can mute, i couldnt even mute on my druid
My bad.
I personally don’t think mute or ignore functions should be tied to a Trust Level, these options should be available to all posters.
Totally agree. Dont see why it is like that.
I’ve seen a few people mention this in other threads Bagdawg, not sure if it is a bug on the forums at present, but yes it would be helpful if people could be referred to the post that is the reason for the silence/ban
Yes, complete with options to remove poster X and all their alts from ignore/mute at a set date, or after X time. An option to write a note on that list would be good too - think “poster A ignored 22 07 2020, trolling in class section, ignore for 3 months” like IgnoreMore addon.
I’d like a Trust Level filling bar, kinda like achievements tab in WoW, to show the general progress and what specifically has to be done yet to gain higher TL. And in general the current TL3 should be “default” or granted a lot earlier. I tend to skim the forum offline unless I notice something interesting, so this “visit forum in 50% of the last 100 days” and “read 20k posts while LOGGED IN” is just killing me.
Perhaps it is to throw new players into the crucible, or rather, cesspool that GD is, so they become fire-forged, jaded, hardened trolling veterans, seething with hatred, flagging anything they dont’ like? Someone made this bed, now they have to sleep in it
I agree it is a real obstacle to attain TL3, what I would add to this is if somebody loses it, they have to start again. I’m not sure if they have to start again from the beginning, I think I read somewhere they did, but I may be wrong.
If it is start again from the beginning, I think it’s unfair and would like it to be similar to the punishments, so for a first infraction I believe you may get a silence for x amount of hours, further infractions can increase punishments given. So I say it should be the same for losing TL3 - you should never have to start from scratch, but maybe drop to TL2 and have a shorter time/input to get back to TL3.
Although personally I would prefer all to start at TL3, that to me is the ideal
The whole concept of having to ‘level up’ on the forums is stupid IMO. I’d like all this TL malarky to be thrown in the skip and just let us use the forums and all it’s associated features from the get go.
We’ve qualified to use by buying a sub.
I agree Bagdawg, again this is just my personal opinion, but for me the hoops we have to jump through to gain TL3 are extreme and seem more of a punishment rather than an encouragment for people to obtain this.
Whereas if we all started at TL3 and were given the ability to post links/gifs, any infractions would then remove these privileges. If they did this then I personally believe most posters would be more inclined to follow the rules rather than lose these abilities.
Now I have said similar to this before and the one reply that stuck in my mind was from someone who said something like ‘oh god no, the forums will be inundated with gifs.’ I agree in a sense but I think this maybe so in the beginning when people first get this ability, I think it would ‘calm down’ when it became common to be able to post them.
Edit: I know I will be hated for this, but if we are offering suggestions to make ALL posters happy, then maybe a restriction on the amount of gifs you can post per day? (Going to hide now before I get flak for this comment)
I’ve had TL3 3 times now and this time had it since November and yes I agree, the novelty at first was fun but wore off and now I rarely post gifs and normally in funny threads where appropriate.
I personally am not against gifs, I find them a funny and creative way to highlight points in threads
I know there are some who hate them, I don’t know if the hate is because they can’t post similar, or it is a genuine dislike of them.
If the Mods do take note of what people are posting for changes/amendments, then I just think it’s fair to put all views forward
It should be the trust is implied (you start at TL3) and you lose it if you recieve suspensions or other black marks and then you have to earn it back by grinding without getting any more black marks.
By black marks I don’t mean your posts getting flagged, I mean when the mods hand you a plane ticket or something of that nature, essentially an unequivocal “you need to take a break from here” measure.
That would make sense to me. The only people who would be upset with such a system are those who get their vacays and they’ll either not care about it because they prefer to keep behaving like they do, or it may be a small measure that encourages them to behave a bit better.
This is how it should be IMO.
Another thing I find is ridiculous is that someone like Punyelf is an MVP, but only if they post on that character. Surely, if they’re an MVP it shouldn’t matter what character they post on, they’re still an MVP.
Yeah it would make sense to make Trust or MvP stuff an account-wide thing. It’s about the player, not the character, surely? Or does our trustworthiness alter based upon the character we’re posting on? o0
I wonder if this is being applied for the “Guide” system in SL? Do you have to sign up on each character or does signing up on one get you access to the channel on all of them? As far as I am aware any recent black marks on your account prevent you being a guide which is taking an account-wide view, but it seems the system itself is character-based.
It’s a bit odd to me.
I am sure that the MVP posts not all showing as MVP is a bug, I think I read somewhere that this was the case, not positive though.
Sorry Paxmillian but I am not sure what this is? Is it similar to, or the same as the Mentoring system I read about? If so isn’t this an in-game system? Or is there something similar for the forums?
There are rumours that they are working on making everything accountwide to combat the flag abuse issue so trust levels, likes and flags will all be accountwide at some point
Although that was talked about quite a while back now and it still hasn’t happened so it either isn’t possible or it’s low on the list considering other changes appear to have been implemented recently.
Best news I have heard then, can’t wait for it to happen
Yeah it’s the mentoring system in game. My question is if I nominate Pax here as a guide and get accepted and thus i’m in the “Guide channel” identified as a Guide, does that mean my alts are or aren’t? Because surely if i’ve identified myself as a player who is happy to help others with questions and stuff, that should stand on it’s own and shouldn’t be based upon the character i’m logged in as?
i mean it’s being pitched as “general help” as far as I understand, if it was looking at being more akin to “class experts” i’d get it.
