Tank shortage in tww

do you want one bus driver or 4 on the same bus? its ok that the tank which goes in first should know the route for the %

I think the problem is there are often at least 2 players in groups who act like a busdriver but aren’t.

reduce bloat and unhealthy apm requirements, improve dungeon design so its easier to get 100% at last boss, though this season seems quite decent in that regard.

Atm Brew is the only tank im willing to try as apm and bloat is manageable if not good

tanks don’t just drive the bus tho they do more than that. also bus driver gets paid unlike passengers. blizz should at least add some incentives like they do in normal dungeons(but better)

yep, but at least there is an ignore option in game for this kind of behavior. :dracthyr_lulmao:

I’m fine with that. I watch netflix on the 2nd monitor, while tanking 10, because its always the same route with the same mobs. There is no suprise and bigwigs/weakauras tell you if mob xy is doing a bad cast, which have to be kicked or you must use a def cd.

The pay in being tank is that you have most control over the outcome being successful. The dps cant do nothing about it if tank have no clue what they are doing or if they bolster some mob to raid boss levels when they just charge elites that you just sap and so on. Thats when you switch to play tank yourself so there is no such to witness no more and that is the pay, the pay is control over success

They can sustain a bit , excluding blood dk and vdh , but we had a one army tanks since legion and it was good , every tank had a good time ,but the moment they nerfed it , we have a crazy tank shortage , the only thing that was keeping tanking fun for me , is either the utility like prot paladin or the damage they deal , or being godmod , dps enjoy destroying the dps meter , healers enjoy being busy keeping everyone alive , but there will be no tank in the modern era that will enjoy being a training dummy for mobs , its my opinion tho , i don’t know about others , but removing godmod shows that its probably the same for many people.

dont forget the dmg reduction on trinkets and cantrips, when you go in tank specc. You are 2nd or 3rd class player in blizz eyes. You get as last the bis trinkets (which are dmg most cases), because real tank trinkets are underperforming in comparision

Maybe im not the best player for this discussion because i mostly do delves and solo content but i thought id pick up tank with tww.
Well i didn’t stick with it.

Leveling was fun cause leveling a tank is always fun. But after that the fun got lost quickly.

Every dungeon i tanked was a nightmare. Almost all dds where so impatient they pulled whatever they wanted and most groups where not a fan of me wanting to go slower to get a better undestanding of how tanking works.

After a week i was done with it. I didnt even keept the character since delves with tanks where also no fun. Sure you can take a punch but it feels like you cant throw one yourself. My warlock and my hunter are thanks to there pets just as beefe as the tank but they do much more dmg and the delves are not a slog.

Funny enough the only time i really had fun was at the end when i had enough i lvl for lfr. Tanking that was actually fun maybe because of the second tank i dont know why.

Yep, as tank you have low time to learn anything mid dungeon, you have to be prepared before you do anything and that is a huge minus for ppl, which want to try tanking.
So i can understand your PoV.

Here is what happens with tanks and healers:

They have always been in demand. Across the history of wow, and it has nothing to do with the community. The community in fact treats them like pampered baby boys in fact, no trolling there.

The issue is that when you got a season that is so mean to Alts, you only have mains playing. And all the main tanks/healers have catapulted in rio way above yours.

If you were to plot a gausian curve of key level vs. players, one for each roll… DDs would have their mean 3/4 key levels lower than tanks and healers. First cause they do less keys in general, and second because they are much less in demand and got “left behind” in the rio department.

So that is the answer to your question. Where are all the tanks/healers ? 2/3 key levels above you. That is where they are. And there is no shortage of them there.

The biggest problem right now is the MDT stream, everyone expects that level of coordination and pulls; which is almost impossible for puggles, the expectation in keys is a little to high to do everything perfectly. Let’s face it ive done it and most of you probably have missed a defensive key hit meaning your health starts to spike then you start jumping and panicking. The healer half the time is spamming a dps rotation because they’re lazy and expect us tanks to deal with these sudden tank busters. Yes we use defensive but some gawd damn awareness would be nice from healers, from my experience they’ve gotten to used to using there dps rotation and rarly are they ready for incoming damage.

Err, no. This season heals are too busy spamming their heals that do no healing and biting their fingernails for their big heal CDs to come back before the next huge random AOE that each group does or almost oneshots to dps from casts that target independet from aggro; if the tank then gets into trouble on top of that… well, there is simply no gcd / effective spell left to save them.

Erm … yes started with a hpally and stopped at 12 level keys; the rewards aren’t there so I’ve switched to tanking.

As a dps healer, I make it my business to make sure I’m ready for all damage. Hpally is bursty at healing so we get through it but still all I see from shamans is them casting elemental burst or whatever it is. Druids suck only reason they’re in the group is for br, priests … your cloth you are your own problem.

The only one I get on with are envokers mainly because at these high levels they know there class

In the end i aksed myself if it was worth it or not.

Doing the same stuff i would do as a dd but i get more blame if i fail i have less time to learn and more pressure AND even the delvs where worse.
And believe me i like playing the big hunk of life that eats all the dmg i like to play that in all kind of games just in wow it kinda feels worse when there are more then enough dds that are tanky

Counting the amount of times the healer in SV dispels at the wrong time well… I don’t have that many fingers or toes to use we would have to start multiplying and this is in 10s and up.

The level of healers have dropped the bar for this role is low, in the mud I’d say, Delves are partly to blame for inflating Ilvl, you get less skilled people who aren’t ready for that level of content in high Ivl gear. Yea Io can help sort the poop from the dung but healers are in demand and you just have to work with it. Usually they brick most keys.

This expac is so friendly to alts , what do you mean ? this expac was the only expac i could level alts , also the statement of tanks being pampered only apply to them being invited cause of the tank shortage.

I never had a 25 min time waiting for one tank on df , its the opposite , since they were actually confident to play that role , they felt that they can go into a key and not have a spike of panic attacks on every mob tank busters, and even if they wipe , there was no peril affix to put the cherry on top , tank shortage was always there i agree , but tww have an abysmal amount of tank shortage , this got accumulated with the new peril affix , and now they feel more pressured into investing into tanking keys.

The worst tank change in TWW is that Blizzard put a major part of tank survival in the hands of the healers again. Meanwhile all they’re concerned with is to pump out “big deeps”.

Like chill, no one cares about your 40k overall, truly  (ya, IK a good few healers are “pewpew to heal”).

For the thick out there: 'tis a major generalization but you get the point- hopefully.

You need to time 80 +9s to get enough gilded crests to upgrade all Hero Gear. Plus 90 Crests a pop for crafted items.

And if you did not complete +10s since the beginning of the season (being 11 weeks behind) its all those Myth track gear pieces you dont have. And to get them you need to simply wait 11 weeks… so… Early Febuary more or less…

Its brutal for everyone. Not only tanks.

So yes. Its harder for tanks and there are few of them. Its also harder for DDs and they give up earlyer in the season. Same for healers.

Thing is that people still play lower keys, which squew the statistics and make it seem like “a lot” of people play M+. But the moment you get anywhere near a +9 participation rates plummet.

this is a non affix and tbh the only good thing for tanks this season, that you dont have every week another bad affix you must dealing with like sanguin/bolstering or any other, where you only can play it on tank xy, because others cant handle it on their own.
