Tank shortage in tww

You’re basically describing prot paladin

I would tank, if I didn’t feel like everything in the dungeon, rests on my shoulders.

it doesnt, but you are not allowed to say smth and leaving if you get harassed is bannable now. =)
Welcome to modern wow.

Yep this is a big issue, but our luck, that blizz nerfed us tanks in the area of doing damage. Main reason why prot pala is right now s tier as tank. Doing high damage, good utility and with proper def cd rotation very tanky.

Lucky for us that doesn’t have to do anything with alt friendliness.

That was coming from how much homework you have to do before you can even step into a key/raid.

Like the shadowlands Legendaries and the Conduits. Essences, Cape and Azerite Armor in BfA. DF and TWW has none of that, yet.

That’s like saying that people “still clear” normal and heroic raids, but the moment we look at mythic raiding, participation rates plummet. Yeah, I wonder why.

I think it was for the better. Tanks still feel very powerful, you just have to rotate cooldowns. I am glad that we are over with the last expansion: World of Tankcraft: Dragonflight.

God mode isn’t fun.

I can’t even name one. Can you?

You can thank VDH for that, but it is still not a significant change. It only affects runs +12 and above.

Still a lot of keys if you do multiple characters

i have seen that more times then i can count .dps pushing the tank to pull more and if tank refuses they go on and pull more .then the group wipes and then tank gets the blame and healer too for not healing the tank lol.

Tanks are just kinda boring.

Its very repetitive gameplay.

Ignore pain spam, ironfur spam etc.

There are quite some bosses that have AOE into tankbuster. Like 1st boss City of threads. AOE->move on low health (not able to cast get the group full health) → tankbuster.

There are quite some trashpacks with targetted dots on players while the tank is getting smashed.

I think it’s mostly that as a tank or healer, unlocking your full potential is gated behind group coordination.
If a tank can survive 18s or 19s with the damage modifiers these levels have, imagine how easy it is to survive 8s or 10s. You can basically just press random buttons and make it, as long as you are not undergeared. Getting in higher keys though requires coordination to time the keys and get to experience the levels where tanking becomes fun.
The same applies to healers theoretically, although practically they usually have allot to heal because of people getting more avoidable damage in lower keys. But it’s a different damage profile that just makes them more stressed with no ability to plan much.
On the other hand dps can pump at lower keys and this isn’t affected much by what others do. It’s not needed to do as high dps in lower keys or lfr but you still have an objective measure of how good you do and you can still try to become better at your job without relying on the rest of the group.
Of course they still rely on others to successfully run a key or a raid boss but doing their part well is on them.

I used to love tanking but these days i have zero interest in rushing through stuff as fast as possible with people moaning at me for my trouble.

That is (one of the) the most choreographed tank-buster in M+ right now. It is completely up to the tank to take damage from it.

I called this one because you couldnt think of one. This one should be pretty clear to you.
I did not wanted to go into every trashpack where 2 ‘soulcleavers’ doing 12+M damage on the tank in less than 2 seconds time while the group also needs healing.

Yeah, but then you give an example of a completely avoidable/mitigatable mechanic. I was asking about a problematic one.

That’s the only damage from that pack, no AoE and the only thing you need from the healer is a dispel.

What? I need to heal the tank after (and before) that tankbuster. It isnt avoidable at all.
You want to look at more problematic ones? Dawnbreaker 2nd boss?

No. It does 3M initial hit and 3M like a second later. Goes through ironfur. The dispellable debuff is a thing that gives you 10% increased damage.
The healer needs to heal.

who needs tanks when you have healers racing away nuking everything cause they have the gear

I tank and don’t have huge issues with it like people here describe. The only issue is that the average pug is awful and RIO means nothing anymore. Playing with plebs u are forced to pull small which is also boring as heck and beta pugs can’t handle big pulls, especially DPS cuz they haven’t figured out their rotations half the time.

I can tank +10 on my 610ilvl tank without issue when playing with my friends (no coordination) but struggle in a +7 pug because people suck.

Best thing they can do is address toxicity towards tanks and healers, if their is lack of tank and healers.

If the learning environment is toxic no one will learn and just give up.

I tanked both on +10 and I didn’t need any healing from the healer on both.

You press a defensive and Frenzied Regeneration. That is all.
