the x5 gain is cancelled out by the x5 cost = no net gain.
This issue is especially visible on wowhead comments. I am starting to think that many many people actually do not understand what they read…
No wonder Blizzard can’t take us seriously if so many people don’t even understand their news…
I’ve been thinking about it…
Blizzard, if for whatever reason you can’t be bothered with being fair towards people w/o echoes vs. people with a lot of them - Please at least remove vendor rotations.
Seriously, as much as I understand that RNG is necessary evil in MMORPG to maintain its longevity - it’s ALWAYS a griefing issue. Please, if possible, do not add that to every possible aspect of the game…
Except i responded on someone who bought his last essence. So we talk corruptions now.
It’s just another trick to get me to do Emissary’s isn’t it?
Glad I didn’t care enough about echoes to the point where even buying and activating an essence I was never going to do felt like a waste of time so I have a small pile, but nowhere near enough for a juicy TD
For real, Blizzard? So my main character with most progress, tried hard to do rated arenas and with 1000 echoes stored (couldn’t make more due to all esses 3lvl) will now go behind my alt who was leveled same time as echoes were introduced and stockpiled 24566 echoes. So i will go with my DH alt, farm 1-2 weeks buy more gushing wound corruptions and humiliate opponents with 50-70k DPS in 3v3s , that’s you intended to do? For god sake why you are trying to put main characters behind the new characters? It’s not a “catch up” mechanic, it is “slow down your main” mechanic.
As far as i know, once you get all your Rank 3 essences, currently, you simply STOP getting essences! Both my horde main and my alliance alts have all the essences they can get at rank 3 and they just don’t get any more Echos. Now as for people who didn’t get their essences and just horded them endlessly I have to wonder 1. Why would they do that, isn’t the point of this catchup mechanic to help your alts get up to speed faster and 2. How in the world could one have prior knowledge that Blizzard was going to implement this change to Echos? It certainly came out of left field for me.
As for the Cloak quest taking fewer runs, well hell, I spent half my day yesterday trying to complete that grind only to find out that I should have probably waited a bit more and I could have taken 3 h instead of 8 well, screw me I guess.
I don’t have all rank 3 essences, and I have 0 Echoes of Ny’alotha. But this is my main character with cloak rank 15.
I’m confused, how this should be working.
A little correction here, you don’t need the essences to be rank 3, you just need to unlock them. I have Ripple in Space rank 2 on my main and I still couldn’t earn any echoes.
you ready for 8x gushing lol
There are a few issues with this system preventing the entire thing from being actually fun and worth while:
- We need more cores per week or an increase in corruption resistance. After being up to date with visions and the cloak corruption resistance upgrades, I can barely think of 2x rank 3 corruptions. THIS IS AFTER 4 MONTHS OF WORK. Before 8.3 there was a discussion that with time we will be able to add more high ranked corrupted items to increase our power. Given that it took me 4 months to be able to wear 1x rank3 and 1x rank2, when is that time blizz, in Shadowlands? Nobody is asking to have all the items corrupted, but considering that you know our opinion regarding this entire system, and the fact that there is no way to go back now, why not just let us have fun with it for the next few months?
- It is mandatory to have previously cleansed items able to be re-corrupted. most players sit at 470-475 ilvl, gear which has most likely been cleansed, it would be stupid to force a 460-465 farm just to be able to corrupt an item.
- Having the cleansed items unable to be re-corrupted will decrease the incentive to do high visions or high mythics. There is no point in doing those if the item cannot be improved to the player’s satisfaction with the new system.
- Remove the echoes from everyone just as you remove the titan residuum at the beginning of a new season. This way it is fair for everyone.
Simple - if you would unlock something on rank 3 on your alt, then your main would start earning echoes until you would bought this essence and once again your main would be having everything you unlocked on this account. THEN this character would NO LONGER earn echoes. As a reward of having unlocked everything - you would stop gaining the currency. Because you bought everything you could. AND NOW you learn that if you would artificially keep locked some essence on you main, then you would constantly keep earning echoes. Quite a lot over time. But how could we know?

yes… also this. I had forgotten about this. But I kinda think this is final… Feels bad. Why not allow to quickly catch up by removal weekly cap of the cores. I don’t think it would be unfair to top players, but would be a nice gesture toward more casual players.
Proc corruptions are worse because they’re rng. Stat increase corruptions are flat dps increase and in most cases those will be bis.
Awesome … farming echoes now, because blizzard implements one sh*tty system after another. All these systems in bfa - azerite / corruptions / benthic have been a fiasco. Visions & all gear under 475 is worthless now.
It’s amazing how you never can get anything right, i’m pretty much convinced that you are trolling. Alts are going to be the new mains now, at least make a new currency or have echoes be account bound. This is so stupid, it’s like you don’t even play the game at all.
Why would they reset echoes for everyone if there are people who purposely didn’t unlock all essences and farmed them just in case blizzard added something new to buy with them? Hm?
because it’s a new system changing the gameplay entirely…the same thing happens to residuum with a new season and nobody gives a damn if some yolk farmed residuum to buy an item.
extremely bad example. you were noticed in advance that your residuum will be zeroed at the start of every season.
and what is stopping them from giving the same notice for this system as well?
It’s too late now
