It’s still more numbers to inflate the sense of progress. If someone has 10.5k plus to use your example they can buy every essence anyway proving the point they don’t need to increase the price of the essences by a factor of 5 for what is a catch up mechanic to get rank 3s on alts.
It’s inflation for the sake of inflation on essences, corruption pricing is fine with the increased rate but doesn’t solve the catch up for essences other then to place a road block that does not need to be there.
Farming invasions or boxes to get essences to be viable before even working towards corruption doesn’t fix the problem they are now introducing with the system.
It doesn’t make it a catch make it a catch up it makes it more busy work for alts because they have to have “engagement” can’t have people doing things and being viable after a week but wait they are making the ranks on the cloak easier to get to counter act the ability to buy corruption 
Now do you see the problem, if they want people to catch up, then there is no reason to increase the essence cost other then to roadblock alts

Yes. But its puts at disadvantage people who did not hoard echoes.
And like I said. I hoarded mine simple cause of lazyness…not methodicaly like I knew this day would come.
So technically…people who by some dumb luck will get ahead of those who did not hoard echoes?
if it was announced like a week, month ahead. Then sure. People would farm echoes and be prepared.
So they inflated the prices so they(the no echoes guys) can catch up more easily.
Otherwise if they did not increase the prices 5x times as well. I could probably buy all my bis corruptions on day 1 and be done with it…all by my dumb luck and coinsidence?
Edit: Some people are already complaining that its not fair for me to have 10.5k and others got flat 0. The inflation at least shortens the gap between us.
2nd Edit: and Yeah. I also don’t mind starting from 0 as well. Would be fair against everyone then.

The currency you get everywhere though. I think we are swimming very soon in it. Look at for example what you will get in just 1 month playing. Without this system we are now at the point of having no or 1 good corrupted piece. After all these months. We now have a perspective to play for. And it will go fast.
Nah, You get around 4k. Its a slight headstart. At least that is how much my character has, who only did the bare minimum weekly things.
Again not talking about corruption I have not problem with them selling corruption for echos
I am talking specifically about essence price increase
Inflating the essence pricing does nothing to help alts, since they still need to do the same amount of work to get the essences in the first place before buying corruption. No alt is going to throw echoes into corruption first, they will always 100% buy the best rank 3 essences they can.
Hence the point that there is zero reason to increase that price except to place an artificial roadblock there
and my mage still gets echoes as I dont have all essences. amazing.
People asking for a reset of echoes are on another level of crazy.

Essences costed 500 before. Now they will cost 2500 which is 5x500
Same as for the source drops. They also went 5x times up?

Based on my quick calculations, you can easily make 9k every week. Up to 11k if you do everything.
So if you want to reroll to an alt because of one week, its your mistake. I certainly won’t.
Those who have been hoarding get a week headstart, not counting your general RNG in getting corruption prior.
