Thanx for Black Lotus Hotfix, How about Arcane Crystals!

I love the increase the spawn rate of Black Lotus, however we are facing the same issue with the Arcane Crystals (which is required in many high end gears, items, etc)

can we apply the same logic here ?

No, we can’t. BL were changed because they were on a fixed spawn point: Arcane Crystals are completely random and nobody can hoard most of the server’s crystal spawns.

DM:e runs had guaranteed rtv:)

why not, the server was built and designed to accommodate 2,000-3,000 players.
now we have like 10,000 players with the same old resources

Everyone have access to DM:E though and that’s not affected by server population.

arcane crystals are no issue… you can get 10 in an hour or you can get 0 in an hour… completely random and you can farm it instanced too.

Black Lotus is gonna be soon cheaper than Arcane Crystal how is that non issue.

No, we cannot because you can easily obtain Arcane Crystals from instances (Zul’Gurub and Dire Maul:East)

Triple the players also means triple the instances.

I see no problem here. Move along.

I agree that ALL VEINS AND ALL HERBS should have had the Black Lotus treatment. I’m sure Blizzard just brainfarted real hard and will return to correct their mistake in a few months.

That said, the extreme majority of Arcane Crystals come from DM:E farming which will not be impacted by changes to the outside, so the Arcane Crystal price won’t change much.

No one were complaning about normal herbs/mineral but since they nerfed Black Lotus every will complain about them ?? Wtf.

The prices for these herbs are really cheap, you can find so much page of them in the Auction House and you can get them in ZG/DM too.

All other veins and herbs already have a lot of spawnpoints, to the point it’s impossible for a few ppl to monopolize the entire source (not even counting dungeons/raids). Only Black Lotus had such few spawnpoints that a few multiboxers/botters/nolifers could easily camp an entire zone. Remember, the whole point of monopolizing is not to get as many as possible, but to make sure everyone else gets as few as possible.

Most of these threads that popped up are disgruntled Lotus hoarders that are just trying to get on people’s nerves in some way, no matter how farfetched it is. I think there’s a rogue who made already 2-3 threads like that. Don’t give them more credit than they deserve - we already have been given them our in-game credits for months^^

The lotus hoarders have a serious case of of whataboutism.

This is literally how retail wow came to be.
While I see the benefits with the black lotus fix and it doesn’t really bother me, the fact is that its a slippery slope and pandoras box may have already been opened.

Arcane crystals were and are easily farmable. BL were not.

They are a completely different resource. Don’t change the drop chance of Arcane crystals, it’s fine how it is.

Drop rates for most of the items are already high enough. There’s no need to increase them any further.

Level 1 ghost camping, however, is totally a different thing. It’s an exploit and should be treated as such.

Please don’t turn this awesome game any closer to retail.

It’s like some of you don’t realize that there’s probably a year and something of Classic left before TBC launches. I can’t believe you guys seriously think that we’d get on such a steep slippery slope in just a few months. What’s next, Xmog for Christmas?^^

It’s like everytime there’s a change or fix around these parts that makes things more QoL-friendly, people scream “this is another step towards Retail”. You know what would be a step towards Retail, too? Harder raids :joy:

What makes you think a slippery slope can’t continue into TBC? Let’s remove reputation requirements for heroics, and raid attunements from launch!

What makes you think those things are even remotely compatible? I don’t remember anyone on this board complaining about Onyxia attunement chain, for example.

Feel free to explain why those would be incompatible. If you mean comparable, they both reduce the effort needed to minmax your character.

Back when Onyxia attunements were relevant content most requests for changes were met by a mob of #NoChanges supporters. Seeing more changes go through, will encourage more people to request more changes. Should be fairly obvious considering the term slippery slope being used.
