Yes, I’m completely sure their wet dream is to recover for retail all these players (like myself) that have resuscribed for classic. In my opinion, they are delusional, and should concentrate instead on giving to us the best possible vanilla experience.
They don’t even primarily judge profit potential from sub numbers anymore either, which is how they’ve justified losing around 80% of their player base since their peak.
It’s because the micro(macro)transactions took over, which they sell a lot more of for the retail version of WoW.
So yeah, they don’t want everybody “happy”. They don’t care if you quit your sub. They just want people en masse to move over to retail once they’re fed up with Classic, which they likely still haven’t given up on.
I tell people to suck it up and deal with it or go play something else.
I don’t bother with anyone that is a lower level then I currently am unless they attack me first.
I do agree on the fact that people who do rely on getting honor from lower level’s are indeed bad at PvP and I just laugh at them, even harder if I killed them after they tried to kill me.
No vanilla player will try retail if their classic experience sucks. They better focus on making sure we love classic (for instance, helping those affected by this P2), before thinking on making retail attractive to us.
The people that are playing Classic aren’t interested in Retail, hence why they play Classic.
The people that like Retail are complaining about P2 and begging Blizzard to do something about it when they already have the choice to just go back to the game they actually enjoy instead of torturing themselves and QQ’ing to Blizzard asking for help.
Back in the day most QQ’s happened during TBC, Retail is the result of all that QQ.
Except they aren’t. These are the same people who needed years of convincing before even saying yes to relaunching Classic, despite private servers being quite popular (I’ve never tried one).
So yeah, they’re moving with a business strategy where they don’t care about catering to people in classic as much as they do for people in retail. Because the incentive to do so isn’t as profitable as over on retail (although it’s part of what has made so many people quit in retail over the years, but w/e).
We are going wildly offtopic, but ok. Yes, what you say is true, it is whats happening. And what you describe is one of the reasons why companies fail, when they no longer know or are unable to adapt to what their customers want. “You think you do, but you don’t” he said.
Steve Jobs explained it pretty well when he talked about Xerox and about companies with a monopoly. Because what happened was that marketing schemes and ways to sell pieces of the already existing product became far more profitable than just making the game better.
So you see these strategies used by Blizzard now to capitalize on the marketing, instead of trying their hardest on making the absolutely best products possible. (Regardless of people’s different opinions of what ‘best’ actually would mean. Because most people prefer the instant gratification in this day and age, but many feel frustrated when it’s at the cost of the intrinsic reward loops which takes time to create for the player. An example of people saying they want something now, even when they don’t know what they want.)
I don’t think Retail players are bad, I know Retail is not for me and I know Classic is not for people who like Retail.
So instead of people QQ’ing on the forums and asking Blizzard for help, they should do what you did and just go back to the game they do enjoy playing while everyone who enjoys Classic can play Classic without any QQ from people who don’t like it.
All the QQ back in the during TBC, led to what Retail is today and most people actually like Classic a lot more then they like Retail. But yet, some people want Blizzard to change Classic to Retail again. Which is just stupid.
Its not that black and white. Some prefer one over the another, and some prefer both, and play both.
Allthough i do agree with you, QQ`ing in the future of Classic is inevitable, when people have Naxx on farm, become rank 12 and whatnot. (Whats next? TBC2 ? )
It’s highly likely they’ve expected a lot of the complaints about Classic, and have already made plans on what to do with those complaints. The usual strategy is to just brush complaints aside with misleading and vague language, or to just flat out ignore them entirely.
So yeah, complaints will never stop. I doubt they’ll pay any attention to the vast majority of them though.
Just taking the opportunity to ran that in the current state where lvl60s are camping quest hubs, FPs and hunting people who are still leveling, I just don’t see how this game would be playable for me anymore.
It’s just frustrating and although I enjoyed classic so far, I guess it’s time I go play something else, as this is totally not worth it. This is what you get for not getting lvl60 before P2
