The Evolution of Creative Content in World of Warcraft

Indeed. So what do you think of all those who feel outraged or damaged by the removal of something like that, as if the game was ruined forever by such changes?

What I mean to say is that sure, I would love for more proper content ASAP, but since I agree that the accusations were rightful, the ripples of in-game repercussions caused by the accusations are something that I can easily shrug off even if I donā€™t find them necessary.

I donā€™t think we need to know in detail who was hurt or how exactly, and I donā€™t think we are here to pass judgements on the rightfulness of their feelings. Thatā€™s what the lawsuit was about it, an we are not lawyers.

On the other hand, if a company of such size is willing to ā€˜wasteā€™ that many resources on such thingsā€¦ then they probably had proper reasons for it, even if we canā€™t imagine them.

I havenā€™t seen a single person argue that the whole game is ruined because of this. Not 1.

We just find it silly and pointless and a contradiction of their stated goals.

Well, I think this is probably the crux of the issue. None of us can really imagine what these reasons actually are, and this obviously makes Blizzard look tremendously silly.

Another core part of it is that it feels as if Blizzard are transporting their in-office issues to the playerbase, where they do not belong. We have many problems in this playerbase, but /spit isnā€™t one of them.

Sorry, I donā€™t wanna be negativeā€¦BUT

ā€œEvolution of Creative Contentā€ ----> Replacing women with fruits, renaming NPCs like ā€œConcubineā€ to smth else cause itā€™s offensive (to whom, the management?), deleting some emotes from the game for what reasonā€¦?

Thatā€™s great evolution right thereā€¦

Ainā€™t knowing there was such a lawsuit enough explanation?
To me it is. The rest is a matter of privacy.

I can agree that /spit wasnā€™t a problem to me. But I also donā€™t think that the removal of /spit is damaging to me. Iā€™d have to consider myself insane and reconsider my entertainment schedule if it annoyed me by any extent. :woman_shrugging:

As a matter of facts I think itā€™s well within Blizzardā€™s right to remove an emote (that can still be customized with /e) because ā€˜something happened to someone working for themā€™.

I donā€™t think they are transporting any of their issues to me by removing this. Why would it? It doesnā€™t limit my freedom to type a rude emote, if I ever wished to. (Although I never found it necessary to, lol).

No, the lawsuit does not explain why the toxicity level of the playerbase is a focus.

In my personal experience, the toxicity of this community isā€¦ fairly minor. Most of the toxicity arises when you are dealing with the LFR/LFD/BG system by far, which doesnā€™t surprise me in the slightest.

Then thereā€™s a few game mechanics that make peopleā€™s heads pop with rage, which in turn leads them to become toxic. Keys that lower themselves are a good example of this.

The real problem in this community is bots, boosting, and gold buying, but no focus whatsoever is being allotted to that problem.

I donā€™t feel I can entirely exclude that someone specific may have harassed someone else specific in game using said emotes.

Or used NPCs or in-game portraits to mock them.

Thatā€™s enough to me.

Iā€™m not taking it personal. Why should I? It may however have been personal to someone else. Thatā€™s the key point to me.

I meanā€¦ /moon never knew it was in the game tbh. I tried and basically does nothing but an emote text. My char doesnā€™t drop her pants. If itā€™s not visual, why removing it?
For burp and fartā€¦ these are involuntary bowel movements that occurs normally. In some cultures burping after a meal means you are praising the chef.
And fartingā€¦ oh well :joy::joy: that happened to me while I was typing here soā€¦I donā€™t find it offensive

As said to othersā€¦ for all we know, someone specific may have harassed someone else specific through it.

Since I agree that the lawsuit was rightful, this mere possibility is a legit explanation to me.

Besides, Iā€™d feel insane and selfish if I thought the damage done to me by the removal of something that silly was more important than the feelings of someone who may have also been hurt through them.

But thatā€™s just me of course. I try to avoid farting loudly in public in real life, tooā€¦ :woman_shrugging:

Someone specific might have harassed someone else specific using the chat, thatā€™s not a reason to remove it.

But thatā€™s the reason why we can block and report people, right?

Can you block emotes? (I honestly never checked)

You can turn off seeing all emotes but thatā€™s about it.

Yes, by ignoring the person.

keep it inhouse blizzard stop this virtue signalling nonsenseā€¦ no one cares just makes you look worseā€¦ :man_facepalming:

What if I block one person? Will the emotes disappear too if they target me in-game?

I have never tried, so I canā€™t actually answer that one.

Will have to test that later when I get to game. Might offer useful insight.

Should have just made an in-game option for: Turn off offensive emotes.
So you personally will never see them in-game.

Itā€™s still not all that practical if youā€™re going to put every single person on ignore using them.
