Excuse us for asking for a separate no-changes server.
You can play on the normal realm and have your fun ; just let us have ours on a no-changes server.
It would literally change nothing for you, and make us extremely happy.
With WoW Classic Anniversary realms, our goal is to preserve the spirit of what makes Classic WoW special. While we’re not strictly following a “no changes” policy for these Anniversary realms, our intention is to closely mirror the Classic Vanilla experience, with minimal deviation from the 2019 version.
Since the launch of WoW Classic in 2019, changes have occurred for reasons primarily focused on game health and game cohesion. These changes have included: reporting system improvements, the Dethroning system for transferring guild leadership, the addition of Chronoboon Displacer (and allowing it to stack to 10), the improved PvP Honor Ranking system, and graphics improvements. On the new Anniversary realms, these changes will be in from the start.
As always, we will continue to listen to player feedback and make adjustments as necessary.
That is what Blizzard posted. Unfortunately, it seems very unknown what counts as minimal deviation from the 2019 version to Blizzard. But the last part matters more, given Blizzard does also seek subscription money. I do hope you (and everyone else) gets the option to play Era-like experience fresh at one point, should this new server type go too far one day.
With GDKP ban in place. To truly have a fresh Era experience.
All things considered, no matter how anyone puts it, megaservers with insane amounts of layers ARE NOT the Classic Experience
Many things already are not how it was in 2004…But once this “Anifresh” plays out, I hope there’ll be an Era or equivalent community left - let’s be honest here, I quit Retail but while a man leaves WoW, WoW doesn’t leave the man so easily.
All points why dual spec is bad, are invalid because respec is already possible and people are doing it every week. Identity is not affected by the change. No tank is forced to play dps. they can stay tank forever. Really none of your arguments are valid
I respect the time spent from the OP, but these are exaggerated fears. As someone else said your problem is free respec not dual spec. Warriors can be prot on wendesday and arms for the rest of the week.
Now, forcing people to farm just to have this, can be ommited to an ANNIVERSARY server. If you see the timeline, in one year from now we’ll be having phase 6! So your reaction is too much, in my opinion .
PS if you have raid leaders that forces you do things, consider changing guild
You are too smart for us all, a game design mastermind. Thank you for enlightening us.
Dude literally just said “All your arguments are invalid”. Woaw, that’s the best gaslighting and invalidation attempt I have seen in a very long time, kudos to you for such creativity.
People keep saying 1-year timeline but TBC will be launch in May 26. Naxx phase starts November 25, runs a few months, and also they won’t launch TBC at the same time as Midnight. So yes, probably May 26, that’s 16 months.
Dual spec caters to a broader range of players, from hardcore veterans to those who simply want to experience the game’s content without the heavy time commitment of constant gold farming. It’s not about making the game ‘retail’ but rather about evolving with the community while still respecting the spirit of Classic.
Implying or comparing it to something aimed at ‘retail’ players isn’t really an argument. It suggests an unnecessary hierarchy among people who love and play World of Warcraft, when in reality, the Classic community is diverse and composed of players with varying preferences and life circumstances.
Have to add one thing also.
This sever will spawn celebrating 20 years of wow. And as back in 2019 the same minded people come to the forums to be miserable and aggressive. It is a celebration. You deserve 1000% to hear, go to your miserable forcing raid leading raids full of warriors and then go gank lowbiea for fun and let others have theirs to the new servers. Enough of this misery.
By definition, if you want to ‘‘experience the game’s content without the heavy time commitment’’ ; then you ARE NOT respecting the spirit of Classic, at all.
Stop being disingenuous, please. Or stop lying to yourself.
You do not dictate the “spirit of classic”.
/me grabs a new pack of popcorn, sits back and smiles shyly when the drama unfolds
Yes I do. I was there in 1995, I was there in 2004 playing Vanilla day 1. I was there in 2019 playing Classic. I supported Blizzard when they were not even famous. I supported all their games, and this game.
Why should the game suddenly change in order to cater to snowflakes and idiots like you ?
You have Retail, you have SoD, you have MoP soon; you have many version, why you need to come and destroy Classic…
And fyi I never supported warrior stacking, nor ganking lowbies.
Hello?
Yes they are. But I will add one more thing for you guys :
Go play ERA.
…oh wait!
Anyway, I will ask you this : Since you guys are SO anti-change , why would you play on a CLASSIC server, with … 1 year spawn life until TBC? That’s a BIG change and not classic at all.
Serious reply only!
Thanks!
I was there 20 years ago ‘the so called spirit of Classic’ wasn’t even aligned with how Vanilla worked. Hence, itemization and being stuck on patch 1.12. Accept the changes of the Anniversary servers and stop gatekeeping. Or stay on era for now. This whole discussion about something that can just make the community flourish.
No, i guess just for you. all your arguments are based on the perception that dual spec now allows people to respec. people always were able to respec and did so on daily basis. depending on activities
See? You are exactly what I said. An aggressive miserable person that puts labels to people. You can call idiots your kids if you want or your wife. Don’t come here and take it on strangers.
Other than that, most of the people here have been playing since the beginning and have a different opinion than yourself. Have been playing since us open beta back then. ok? But I have a different opinion. So you cannot dictate the spirit of classic.
Alright, I’m done trying to explain why these changes are beneficial. Since we love using parallels here, here’s one for you:
Imagine you’ve been in your job for a very long time. You know it inside and out and you do an excellent job. Then someone proposes minor changes that would have a major impact and simplify your daily tasks: Would you refuse?
Dual spec is a bit like that. We’re talking about adjustments that don’t strip away the essence of the game but adapt it to today’s realities while still preserving what makes World of Warcraft Classic so special. The goal isn’t to betray the original experience but to let players fully enjoy the game, even if they have less time than they did before.
Being stuck in 2005 principles without acknowledging the evolving needs of the community is like refusing improvements that could make the experience more enjoyable, just for the sake of preserving a rigid sense of nostalgia. So, is it really about authenticity, or just a fear of change, even when it’s for the better?
And if you’re truly unhappy with these updates, remember: World of Warcraft Classic ERA is still there for those who want the unaltered, traditional experience. It’s a perfect place for those who prefer things exactly as they were.
Enjoy Fresh, see you in-game.
Love to you all!
I think most people would have been happy if they just lowered the cost of respeccing to max 5g or something.
erm, i have played several healers in classic and have always found myself leveling an alt to farm gold easier. so there’s your basis for reality. this is said very often because it is a common experience among healer mains.
