The new battle.net launcher

You sweep an awful lot of people with a dirty brush.

I have stopped using things (Sites, Launchers, People, Food, Items, etc etc) because they got user unfriendly or changed in negative

Not all of us put up with anything that gets forced on us.
I still think it is ugly and soulless, also cluttery and generally lacks any kind of interesting design to it at all.
It has too much load-hog as well with all the “News”/“Suggestions” constantly there.

Might as well just log on through just opening the games exe to skip it.

I would still dislike it but what could go a long way is me being able to resize the panels individually AND having the ability to click away news items.

No doubt they really don’t want you to click away the news items. But… It doesn’t make me feel like playing or paying for things I’m not interested in so they should really let us personalize it.

Yes, I did send that suggestion to them.

I honestly think this is just a case of “Change bad, me mad :rage:”.

I don’t really understand why the old one was better. Everything seems to have mostly remained in the same place, main differences as far as i can tell is that the news feed is easier and more intuitive to navigate and the friend list is bolted on to the client.

By the end of the day it seems like an improvement as far as utility is concerned. The only “valid” complaints i’ve seen is that there may be some issues with memory usage and that they don’t like how it looks aesthetically which is entirely subjective and i mean, why does it matter how it looks? Do you sit around looking at the client a lot? I sure don’t. I mainly just open it, start the game i wanna play and minimize it. The time i spend in the client is very minimal.

People inherently don’t like change.

Mine changed today. I don’t hate it, but I don’t really like it either, but i felt the same way about the last iteration.

I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Also, in case you still have the old one and hasn’t automatically gotten the new one what you need to do is open the settings and switch to the beta client manually. I have two computers and the secondary computer still had the old client.

Its not just that though, I quite dislike that most people just see that as the sole reason. I’ve worked in IT my entire life and its only the past ten years that I have a special hate for UX designers.

Most will just change for the sake of change or to stay relevant. Limiting customization and usually turning user experience for the worst. It doesn’t help how they get taught these days with mostly integrating mobile interfaces for desktop use.

Not that there is no case for people hating change, but I wish more people would actually see the lesser experiences we get as well.

I’m not saying it’s the reason for everyone’s dislike, I’m just saying every time anything changes people inherently dislike it. It’s a natural human reaction.

When the forum moved we had similar feedback.

I’ve had the new one for about a week and the other half had hers update yesterday so there must be some phased rollout of it. Not overly keen on the design but a plus is definitely other games being hidden. My only pratical issue, as with the last, is that as I played classic for quite a while that now seems to be the default login rather than Shadowlands. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve just automatically clicked play only to have to exit game as it launched Classic when I wanted Shadowlands.

Oh, I didn’t meant that as you saying as such. It was the last post mention the change part when I posted that’s why I used yours to respond to. Since you usually change being mentioned as the sole purpose.

I acknowledge that change is always met with resistance and is natural.
I’m always suspicious when change is happening (for good reason, had enough interaction and examples in my work).

Had the same suspicions with the forums, though the things I dislike back then are still the things that I dislike today and I do think they stand in the way of a better forum experience for all (the level system being one of the bigger problems).

*shrug *

Its not good, but its not bad either. I think the previous one was a bit better, though.

6/10. Old one was probably 7/10.

I still like the old forum

BLizzard needs to add change color for that cause i really don’t like grey  i prefer Red color cause its my favorite

It would be great, if we could customize it the way we want.

i like it in all honesty, the only thing id want changing is my friends list to move to other side

I see they’ve removed the the text that shows how much time is left on your subscription, no reason at all for that to be removed, I know some company’s do that to hopefully make you forget about it and it auto renew without you knowing when

If you had an actual recurring subscription, the time left was never shown on the launcher. It only ever showed if you had either bought some amount of game time (with no recurring sub) or had cancelled your sub - in which case it would show how much time you had remaining.

It’s never shown it for a recurring sub. It’s for those who buy game time elsewhere, with gold, or have cancelled their sub to show how much time they have left so they aren’t caught out.

You’re late to the party! I’ve hated them since about '95. :stuck_out_tongue:

Never underestimate their impulse to put THEIR work front and centre. It’s a rare graphics/aesthetics type who will look at an existing project and say: “That’s quite good. Let’s leave it alone.”

Dorothy Parker famously defined an Editor as an animal that doesn’t like the taste until he has peed in it. Dorothy Parker would be right at home with designers.

Nobody cares?

It’s a freakin’ launcher you spend all of what two minutes on it? Ten if you browse the shop.

Launch WoW
Launch Diablo
Launch Overwatch

What ever you play. Oh it’s downloading? Background.

Do people moan about stuff today just for the sake of it or are y’all genuinely so bored this is what it comes to?

Across all the launchers I have I don’t think I have ever once gone “urghh imma complain about this” and I use Origin and Uplay!
