ah don’t be ridiculous, how soft are people these days? You will flag everything you don’t like for some reason as an insult with that liberal logic.
Thank you for effortlessly proving my point by unnecessarily bringing political BS into a discussion about common sense and logical conclusion in a truly pitiful attempt to discredit something you don´t agree with
But, maybe i´m the one that´s incorrect here, let´s find out…
Why are words like “african-american” considered offensive? Is it just “liberal logic”? Or is it because they were used by people to lob thinly-veiled insults at people of a specific skin color after their go-to words N-----r and later negro got called out for how they were being used?
If people want to insult, they can and will find a way using any words they can repurpose to that effect.
nobody cares for what reason you feel offended. Grow up, drink a beer, and live your life.
If terms that literally describe what you are doing offend you then you need to go touch grass, breathe a little, or something, because this is beyond insanity.
Your assumption that Im offended simply because I have to explain logical connections to you is laughable.
The fact is that you merely have no interest in seeing other viewpoints and are now looking for further ways to be insulting so as to be able to say to yourself that their statements bear no validity.
Have a nice life, you are not worthy of any more of my time.
no, I’m not assuming you are offended, I told you that I don’t care about it. But you clearly are offended even when denying it. Typical for this new generation, but this is how the real world works, get used to it or you won’t stop crying in the corner because you think someone hurt you by describing what you doing in one word instead of a full sentence LOL. I don’t care about your pronunciation or gender, or whatever either.
AAAH, yes, a 55 year old member of the “new generation”
I rest my case, your´e clearly just pulling things out of our bum that you think I might take offrense to at this point, and hoping it sticks to something other than your own hands.
If you want to continue to discuss with me, my hourly rates for dealing with obvious trolls start @100€
I thought I was not worthy of your time, what changed?
A 55-year-old who considers words like “casual”, “delver” or “tryhard” offensive? Nah, I don’t believe that in the slightest. My mother is your age and when I call her a “manager” (because that is what she does, manage things) she is not offended, why do you think is that?
Well… those words usually are used to call people bad. Or are used to try to insult someone.
“Manager” does not.
and how is that? who decided about it? Where is the line? It’s the same thing, nobody is insulting someone by calling them by short-term description for what they do. And new players are mostly bad in any game around, it doesn’t have to be expressed at all. We call them delvers because they run just delves. We call them casuals because they do just casual content. Whatever you see behind these terms, it’s just in your head.
It is more like people use these words for people who are doing M+. And they mean it like they are bad. Because “Casuals do not have their interrupt bound”, or something.
It is not in my head in the way the term casual is used.
It is also quite subjective what “Casual content” is.
You refer to common and widely used terminologies in gaming in general, you are assuming (and concluding) intentions to fit in a narrative. There is nothing insulting about it.
Please dont import american identity-politics wich neither belongs in this thread or this forum - If you have to implement your ideological views into a discussion regarding world of warcraft, at least use the us forum - wich would be closer to home for that kind of discussion. I really do not understand the need to import -everything- that happens overseas to europe. and into -any - discussion.
Timely enough, you do assume a lot about other people and their views when you at the same time are advocating a “dont assume my…(fit anything in)”-ideology in this very thread.
What the … does skin color an “the n-word” have to do with anything at all relevant to this subject, thread, game???
But since you are talking about real world, politics and whatnot: To that extent this has any transfer value in real world an real life:
If you dont perform your tasks at work well you should and probably will get constructive feedback.
If you are underqualified for a position, you shouldnt be in that position until you are so.
If a position higher up in the chain where yuo work comes with certain privileges - You are not automatically in demand of the same.
Comparing “Delver” “Casual” “Tryharder” etc. to words that everyone and their mother know are offensive and insulting…Come on
like I said, it is just in your head, get over this, and work with reality for once.
no it’s not, casual content is not demanding. That’s why it’s called casual.
OMG, Am I supposed to be sorry now for using an an obvious example that most semi-fluent english speakers would inherently understand instead of something more obscure that would require further explanation? Should I use German, French, Spanish, Arabic or Singalese words instead and require everyone to use Babelfish or G-trans just to understand half of what´s being said, just to avoid the flippant accusation of injecting politics??
I´m sorry if etymology and the fluidity of languages are such foreign concepts to some that the example has to be dissected instead of engaging with the actual point of the argument. But it´s not in any way my fault, nor my responsibility to teach them any more than I´m already engaged in. Nor do I feel that my statements require further elaboration at this time.
Bro, a vast majority of casual players even refers to themselves as casual players.
A casual player can be anyone from a beginner, to someone who are enjoying the game in that way with no ambitions to up the game, and it can be someone who has played more competitive in the past.
There is so many threads where people say “Hello, casual player here, i just wondered if xxx” or “I mostly play casual these days”
I ask again: How does this in the slightest margin compare to “the n-word” and comparable known insults / hate speech?
You are not only assuming and concluding intentions based on nothing.
You are also creating victims that does not even exist.
Ive played this game on and off, and in periods i played casual and in other periods more seriously - Guess what, when i played casual i played casual, i was a casual, so what is that, self-hatred?
I dont know what your main language is. English is not mine, its more like mye split second/third language - But i can gladly answer you in both norwegian and spanish - or danish/swedish for that matter.
Both casual and delver are no bad words and I think it is pretty obvious when you encounter someone that uses the word in a way to talk down to you
To be fair, you could get that impression at times.
Or maybe it is in your own head - You assume it is a bad thing to be and/or assume that people use it to insult you, and therefore the big bad wolf is the person who adressed something and made the mistake of using the word “Delver” or “Casual” or whatever.
But I would argue that goes beyond being a casual player. That’s not using your kit.
Or are we at a point where not using your kit and not knowing your abilitys is casual level?
Cause then I would see casual as an insult xD
I’m sure most delvers are lovely people just like you. I still do not like it when they start +8s completely unprepared, possibly ruining the experience for themselves and four fellow earthlings. Seems egotistical to me.
You are still hung up on the specific words being referenced, and not the concept being explained by their use, and as a result are missing the point of the statement entirely.
I simply don´t know how else to explain this disconnect on a more fundamental level, if one even exists, and will therefore now stop trying.
Blahblah I´m trying to inject politics and create victims,… yeah, whatever, believe whatever you want, it has no bearing on the objective truth, or my life.
