And as I stated earlier: That’s a fallacy.
Offering freely skipping leveling will mean 99% of people WILL.
Because it’s the path of least resistance.
And guess which path the vast majority of human beings will take?
But not only would it, imo, be a bad move for the game itself, it would also be a bad move for Blizzard business wise. They’re getting more playtime or more income out of their current deal. That would both go away with what you’re asking for; how does that make any business sense for them?
Also I should add, that there were other options to trinkets in other parts of the game which would get you through. So PVP for those trinkets were no necessary.
But if you wanted to be the best in your area of the game, then you should expect to have to go the extra mile to get the VERY best items.
WoW is a game of Grinding, and levelling a new character is just part of the grind.
Path of least resistance. Don’t try and twist my words into something I didn’t say.
No. No they’re not.
And that’s just you. I’m sorry, but you’re not that important.
For every one of ‘you’ there’s someone else who DOES go and level up. Or someone who DOES go and buy a boost.
I stand by my statement that, when something is genuinely fun, you don’t skip it.
I don’t understand what kind of twisted pleasure you get from forcing me to partake in content I don’t enjoy, when you could easily give me the option to skip it without it affecting your own experience.
Seems pretty selfish and sadistic.
The game turning into something else DOES affect me.
I’m not calling you selfish and sadistic for wanting that.
I just disagree with it and I DON’T want that.
You can’t guild trip or shame me into agreeing with you because there’s nothing to be ashamed about. I’m having almost the same argument in another thread RIGHT NOW, so I’ll quote myself from there, because it’s VERY fitting here as well:
And that’s it. We disagree.
Let’s just keep it at that.
I’m not a fan of the chromie stuff myself. The scaling tends to be off in some expansions especially after 50.
A level 20- something character was doing great in Pandaria, and I was being nuked by the same mobs as a level 54 in the same quest. I even asked the level 20 person to help me get past as I couldn’t complete the quest.
Levelling is the ‘best’ it’s ever been for me. If I needed to move to a new server, I probably wouldn’t transfer all my characters. I’d just move the 3 or 4 that are rotating mains, and level the rest again because levelling is so fast now that I think I can endure it. If they went back to the tedious grind, though… not a chance.
The perceived activity of players by others is seen as a positive contribution to the health of the game. You may not think that your being active doing stuff is important but it comforts others that sense an active game and so are more likely to maintain their sub. If everyone gave up levelling having done it once the game would sure feel real dead.
I’m sure there are some people who enjoy gearing 7 characters and grinding the same content tirelessly.
And that’s okay. The option to skip gearing means that the option not to skip is still there.
How about we ask for a more diverse selection of ways to level by playing?
I am sure some people would had liked having the Korrak’s Revenge AV with the pre nerf XP available.
Right now there are well optimized, fast paths available for leveling via queststing on cataclysm zones until Chromie gets sick and kicks you out of there.
PvP does not even come close as a leveling option.
Normally I would disagree, because I really enjoy leveling. Just not on retail. It got really horrible after the Shadowlands changes, and we talked about it at home here how they might as well have taken it away while at it, after sering the end result. 4 out of 5 in our household has tried/played WoW. All 4 like leveling, normally. My oldest son quit because there was no decent leveling, and his brother followed(he does that though…)
I get what they tried to do, but it feels like they completely neglected those of their players that level for fun. It seems to be designed for people who just want to get to endgame, without really doing a good job at that either.
Your argument only works if someone doesn’t enjoy leveling, which defeats the point of your quote, which was about enjoyable leveling. Not everyone will enjoy it though. You can do whatever you want to PvP, but I will still not enjoy it.
I find the leveling to be the best part of the gameplay especially with the skilltrees.
At this point the only reason i play on my main is to farm transmogs so that i can look good while leveling.
Currently been playing on my new goblin monk & i gotta say ive enjoyed the experience so far. Been thinking of joining the necrolords just so he could get the baron title.
Actually, I doubt that. I know several people who enjoy, or just play to level. However, many of the ones I know has quit by now, or gone to classic, because leveling on retail isn’t all that enjoyable atm.
