But they have, and it has to do with this.
16 years ago, I might have been a staunch anti-booster. I was kind of an elitist tbh, and in my mindset having to spend huge amounts of time in the leveling grind was a trial-by-fire every character has to go through, lest he be worthy to enter my domain
Thatâs not to say that this is the mindset of all anti-boosters, thatâs just how I know I would have reacted.
Today I no longer feel this way. I have leveled dozens of characters over the years in retail & classic, and I now know that leveling is only a tiny fraction of the games actually played content & has little to do with being a good player (after all, even a very dumb bot can level 1-60 all by himself). So my PoV on the importance of the leveling has shifted, and so has my opinion about a limited boost.
I say âlimitedâ, because my younger self wonât stop kicking the inside of my mind, until I say that it isnât fine to level all the way. The push 1-58 is fine, a push all the way to 70 isnât, and neither would be professions, or even being able to get the little push more than once.
I realize ofc that this isnât really a strong position to argue from, because latest at that point when I talk about what scale of boost i deem okay, it comes down to opinion and preference
Could you elaborate on that?
I am not sure I understand your position here.
Edit: just realized you did that in an Edit. Thanks, see my reply below.
Well, donât we all, I think one would be hard pressed to find someone who has absolutely no possible changes or improvements to the âclassic experienceâ, however defined, on his mind. Even the staunchest of #nochangers suggested changes over the course of many discussions, even if they are just to artificially recreate former technical limitations such as a limitat to server population (vanilla didnât have a hard pop. limit).
I myself wouldnât have said no to dynamic spawns, adaptations to raid difficulty (especially since the game released with 1.12.1) or updates to mob pathing to tone down the more ridiculous grind-opportunities a bit). WBs would have been a definite goner in my version of Classic. And if they announced more class-specific quests or any of the cut original content being finishes and released somewhen during classic, I would have built them a small monument of praise.
Just because someone wants to change the game, doesnât mean he wantâs to turn it into retail is my point. And just because a certain change doesnât bother me, doesnât mean I would like additional changes of the same nature.
