I used to park my Mechanstrider next to edgy human guilds in Stormwind and continue trying to strike up conversations.
And let’s not forget that your weapons and armour must be dull grey in colour, no enchants even if you are a High/Blood/Void Elf and magic is part of every day life, no other colors allowed except black, grey, brown, and swamp brown.
I’m a firm believer that the human from WoW should be roleplayed differently and with a differing attitude from today’s man or woman, but instead the medieval person. Mostly because while they are like us, their history is different. Seeing people throw curse words every second word IC is entirely cringy when you don’t RP some overly violent bandit but a civilian.
Buuuut, the way I see some people RPing humans is really akin to the real life, advanced human being, practically much like themselves but having less technology available IC and instead magic.
That’s why I think I keep hearing from literally everyone I know that “human RP is boring, why would you play this race than any others”. And it’s hard to justify it when many people are predisposed to a very immature approach when RPing a human, and I also think it’s the reason I’ve heard others say human RP is p. much a second life.
I was once told that I couldn’t use the swift horse mount because its eyes glowed.
Don’t forget your One Spell Per Event rule for mages. And ignoring any gnomes/draenei and technology more advanced than swords.
I wish I could disfellowship people who do that, declaring them unpersons. We must have standards as a community.

I love this. Especially when I’ve had occurances when human guilds have legitimatly whispered me that, direct quote: “We dont acknowledge gnomes in roleplay.” Carry on the fight!

Wear the tbc levelling clown outfit in roleplay to annoy them.

Worst I ever had was this person who refused to acknowledge my human had a rifle that could fire after being wet.
Even after I described putting it into a sealed bag.
Then she complained about the powder being wet, and I couldnt fire it anyways.
I explained they were paper cartridges greased with fat. Stored in a metal box.

Eventually I had enough and replaced it with a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girandoni_air_rifle
Because it does get kinda exhausting as you wander through SW on,well a gnome, only to have 9 or 10 bulky male paladins armoured to the teeth with titles such as “Commander/Ex-veteran of the Alliance/Marshal” etc start belittling your existence for being “low-life sub human” followed by a rant on how the horde is actually better than their own allies they have served with for -years-
This was the worst and I’m glad it’s mainly over. I just want to be a pudgy joke-hobbit!
I don’t think you have to go into such detail just to disprove someone. Many people think that if you’re not explaining something detailed you’re wrong and demand proof. But often times simplicity and depth and layers of actions instead of details of methods help more.
Oh you could blow his mind and say “Ah yes! But my uncle, mr. Samuel Colt Esq. invented this brass metal thing that is sealed and contains the bullet, powder charge, and percussion cap at the end! It’s great!”
“We dont acknowledge gnomes in roleplay.”
And humans aren’t canon. What is this trash?
It’s wonderful seeing GoT-styled rpers stand next to a OOC dwarf Siege Tank and pretend that WoW doesnt have that kind of technology.
prob a result of WoW treating gnomes like a joke race, and many of the RPers following in those footsteps.
Well, we were a somehwat serious guild. So when we prepared to swim a distance, I roleplayed out putting my rifle in a sealed bag, and holding it above the water as he swam, by swimming on his back.
high fantasy guilds are not a viable concept
Yeah, there was this crazy group Called the Spear of Wrynn that tried it. I heard it never took off because nobody does High Fantasy.
On the other hand, you do also have people who just go way too far with the wacky inventions and too much magic that would make even the Nightborne go “OK, tone it down chump” just takes away from the mystery and awe of the Art.
Gnomes are the most heroic & best race of the Alliance.
They are loyal friends and allies in battle. They aided the humans in the second war immensly with troops and technology, and during the third war, while they didnt show up themselves, they sent basically everything they could in terms of technology and resources to aid the war against the legion.
Only afterwards did the rest of the Alliance discover their troubles they had in Gnomeregan with the troggs, and losing the majority of their population. Yet the gnomes had decided that the Alliance had more important matters to attend, so they sent what they could and stood alone to not bother their allies.
Gnomes are the unsung heroes of the Alliance who selflessly aided them whenever they could, asking nothing in return, even when retaking Gnomeregan, since it was their fight.
That is good for immersion yeah! But my friend, people shouldn’t nab at any mistake or thought you do! One roleplays with another, not against another!
Agreed. There’s a good middle ground.
That example just stuck with me because it was -very- low tech. Didnt even use percussion caps. Just gunpowder and ball.
