Your character is the vessel through which you interact with the world and experience the content.
If class design is awful, none of the “great content” is enjoyable.

Balance aside. Some cases were peak in Legion. Legion Arms was the best Arms I have played. Also class design is subjective, some people like complexity others like to mash buttons and pewpew (fury).
Only Survival Hunter (which got destroyed in BFA, and further more in following expansions).
Take Fire Mage for example:
Goes and play “my little pony adventure” because not everything needs to be a blizz game

I still see plenty of them resenting Demon Hunters for having taken Metamorphosis away form them, even to this day.
Wasn’t Survival hunter like S tier dps in Shadowlands for 2 seasons ?
I’m talking about class design, not class balance.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s useless or broken OP if I’m not having fun playing it.
Indeed, we went from WoW to FF XIV as well few years ago, the insane amount of store items puts other games to “shame”.
The old ones were, the new ones not so much.
Also should’ve taken the online ones out of the numeric cycle i’d say, but that’s just my opinion i guess.
It is. However, WoW is that one game that always pulls me back in.
I like their shop but not their game
But someone else said it’s one of those things, either you love it or you don’t. I have tried twice and just can’t find the big appeal. However, everyone should try things to make up their own mind. Unlike me if you don’t have an existing account you can play a lot of it for free to get a feel of the game.
I think I enjoyed char creation more than playing.
I main demo and I really don’t care about Meta, right now I would love to have even more demon summoning spells over Meta, something like a Summon Dreadlord or just bringing back Doomguard. Also Affliction was BiS in Legion.
I played it all in one go at a 6(?) month stint probably less and then was gated by dungeons without the AI help and I just lost all interest. Gating story by dungeons is just an absolute no for me. They’re sooo dull. Don’t think I will bother going back.
But many people liked Legion’s class design.
Like me for instance.
I don’t think you can say that in general it had bad class design.
For some classes/specs it might have; but that’s very specific AND subjective.
Each to their own.
I dislike all of it. The basic designs and aesthetic alone are enough to put me off.
But as games they are incredibly boring.
The mmorpg couldn’t even hold my interest for the first month. It was horrible and boring and it had story moments that made me cringe so hard. And then of course everything was soooo ugly to me.
It’s all subjective, but FF doesn’t hold a candle to Warcraft. It’s not even close, as far as I’m concerned.
I do and I will keep doing so.
I’ve just made a thread about Monk class design issues. Most of the stuff I listed here happened in Legion:
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/monk-the-forgotten-child-the-homogenized-class/471747
TL;DR: For a Legion praised for its “spec identity”, it sure as hell removed a lot of unique mechancis and replaced them with generic ones shared by other classes.
Feel free to contribute here. Most of my class design threads tend to fail miserably and get 0 reaction, because even though people love to call me a “troll” or whatever, they don’t seem to understand that THEY are the ones who prefer to give my “drama” threads 500 replies whilst ignoring my in-depth looks at World of Warcraft gameplay.
Then I will keep saying that you’re wrong.
I’m sorry but I don’t care enough about monks to do so (even though I like their fantasy and I love Chen Stormstout as a character).
And I am quite content with my all-time favorite spec BM hunter.
It’s not perfect; I’d like to see even more skills that involve pets and/or summoning/use of temporary beasts. But overal; I enjoy playing it a lot.
I think the amount of people playing monk is just very low. So that might be why.
That’s not it.
Do you remember my thread that you agreed with, where I gave plenty of suggestions to make the old world relevant, with zone specific reward tracks?
Nobody cares about that one.
My Coliseum suggestion, full of fun suggestions for both PvE and PvP players?
Plenty of other threads I’ve made about raw World of Warcraft gameplay. Those never work.
My thread about the Women Only tournament though? The one where I just posted a wowhead article and wrote like 1 line of text?
+1000 replies.
People here fool themselves into thinking that they’re here to talk about the game. The truth is, they just want to read some good old Slapface drama to keep themselves entertained.
Aye, it was a good idea imo.
9 out of 10 threads that have to do with PvP get a skip from me.
So I haven’t seen/read it (or at the very least: I have no memory of it).
Well, that’s because it’s a sensationalist topic that stirs emotions.
And not in a good way.
Those other topics simply don’t stir emotions, I suppose.
Too bad. It wasn’t a PvP thread.
It was an “activity hub” thread, with a mix of PvP, world quests and brawler’s guild: New Feature ⚔️ The Coliseum
I’m sure you’d like it.
And that’s extremely frustrating for me, because I’m genuinely passionate about the game.
Yet, the threads where I put in the most effort and the most passion, as well as the most research and in depth explanations, get completely IGNORED by the same people who have the nerve to call me a troll when I make a low effort rant which successfully gathers attention.
In any case, you were defending Legion class design.
Even if you don’t care about Monks, nor about my thread, please do read it. It’s quick and it will show you how the “spec identity” expansion deleted half of my toolkit and everything unique about it.
The irony is I actually mained a WW Monk for the first time ever in Legion and then when they changed it in BfA I went nah.
