The WoW team kept their promises

( Every video is time stamped )
The Game Director of WoW, Ion Hazzikostas, said that they will do smart, evergreen content instead of one-time systems.

And while it’s certain that the crafting and reputation updates and trading post will continue forward, the really impressive one is that dragon riding is continuing forward as well.

They promised that all of the races would end up being able to play every class, and it wouldn’t be done in a cheap way.

At the start of Dragonflight, every race had the classes rogue, priest, mage, and monk added to their class options, and later on, npcs were created to represent them for each race.

Now, they’re adding the warlock for every race and adding a quest that will allow you to customize your warlock pets.

They promised that every race overtime would have their heritage armor.

Random Person: Oh, big deal.

When you consider that we live in a world where games even less old than WoW are being abandoned for bigger and better things simply because these products aren’t performing well anymore,

It’s a big deal .

Blizzard could have easily abandoned WoW after Shadowland and put all their eggs in Diablo or the survival game they’re making, only releasing an expansion every one to two years with few balance changes, few patches, and some systems that they would abandon the moment they were done with the expansion, but they didn’t.

Instead, they did what the majority of us wanted: smart content that is being updated in the future, more options, and them keeping their promises.

WoW is good face of activision blizzard. It is not a p2w game, you can win things by paying but same things can be acquired by paying only gametime/sub fee.

WoW will never be abandoned for that reason. Currently no one can accuse them of creating only p2w games because WoW serves as a shield to that.

WoW is also important for cross promotions, buy 6 months sub, earn 20 hearthstone packs or buy 20 packs earn wow mount, or the most recently added 3 headed diablo themed mount in WoW.

So saying that Blizzard could have easily abondoned WoW is a stupid argument. They are aware of good reputation of WoW and act clever with monetization. What was the last 8€ 3 piece transmog’s name? Guardian something. It is also going to be offered for free to players in exchange of tender later on. As you can clearly see they intend to protect good image of WoW and care about its non-p2w image.

I also think that wow quite easy to produce if you keep in mind amount of asstets that they have on their hand, don’t need to make something from scratch, and still have very good amount of sold copies + profit from subscription

all these pointless resource spending changes

warlock pet customisation ?
dragon riding?
Heritage armour?

maybe just make actual real content that people can explore in PvE and PvP

we dont need more toys and visuals

False imo. WoW just will never be abandoned because it is one of the biggest mega-franchises of gaming out there (not counting Star Wars, but that one originated from movies, not games).

Agree with you, except for heritage armor, cause it’s actually pve content which forces you to move in some original classic locations and complete part of the lore and explore it for yourself, but Dragonriding, well ye, not bad but nothing really good or exciting about it.

Customization and cosmetics are true endgame when you did AOTC and KSM, that’s why people visit old content, people want their toons to look cool.
The more cosmetics and toys the better

The old content shouldnt be primarily a source of cosmetics and all other stuff, but a part of a true Wow atmosphere, which I wish more player might be willing to explore, cause this old content have so much Warcraft atmosphere compared to clueless new zones, that it just can’t be ignored and only used as cosmetics centre.
So heritage armor was a good thing to give new players a hint what actually real WoW lore is about not this shetty lezzards who I couldn’t care less about.

Damn it. These time stamps aren’t working again. Instead of showing the WoW team promising something and then showing they’re staying true to it, it shows me wanting something and Bobby himself doing it. It turns out I am Haruhi Suzumiya, if you read the replies.

The class balance team still sucks :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The WoW team kept their promises. Apparently that means in replyer “Game is perfect in every way and everyone loves it. By the way, All the things I wanted bobby added himself in the game.”
And this post means

Ratagan’s wish list for 2023

Delete all other races and make the only option High elves .

But also let’s see what % of the things on that list are in game. Oh, wait , 0%.
Almost like this post is about the wow team promising something and delivering it, and that is a good thing .

Agreed.

If the current profession system is meant to be more than a one-time system then they must have been on Felweed. I hardly can believe that anyone is looking forward to starting at zero and refilling that entire skill point tree again in the next expansion.

The alternative would be to make it even more complex and extend the tree with every new expansion to which I honestly would need to raise the question if they’re daft.

Also, new upgrading system and crafting mats. They did not keep their promise at all to make less complicated systems. We have like 4 new items for upgrading cluttering our bags, 8 if you differ between crests and fragments. A felt 100 new items in three different qualities for professions cluttering bags, too. Sparks and infusions and starseedpollenheckknowsman crafting reagents. Simplifying game systems looks different.

Speak for yourself. I’d rather have tons of visuals, than another pool of boring dungeons with boring ‘avoid this puddle’ mechanics, for the 875235th time.

I agree in general, they’re doing well in keeping their promises, and even exceeding my expectations in some places. I just want to point one small thing out

I understand that from all the negativity the WoW community throws on our favourite game, and from all the bad PR Blizzard has done for itself, some may get the impression that WoW isn’t huge, but it absolutely is. It’s probably still the biggest and most well-known game in the genre. To say they could have easily abandoned WoW after Shadowlands is the same as saying Blizzard could have easily abandoned one of the top grossing, longest running games in the industry, in favour of something that hasn’t made them a penny yet.
I always liked WoW and always enjoyed playing it, and I absolutely commend the devs for their work on Dragonflight, but Blizzard isn’t doing some unexpected, brave venture in putting money into WoW. That would be investing in new stuff, and we’ve seen how that went with Ow2.

As the saying goes; it doesn’t matter if the sky is blue and the sun is yellow, because there will always someone to remind you that it was snowing yesterday and somewhere else.

And the other version; it doesn’t matter if it is snowing and cold , because there is always someone that will remind that it was sunny with a blue sky yesterday and somewhere else.

There is nothing more cooler in wow than horde elves (and trolls), alliance elves on the other side…

We absolutely do!
Im very excited for the new warlock stuff.
