It is when you’re out there. There is a guy who is shorter and at least 10 years older than I am who I see on my commute and he absolutely smokes me with his pace.
I am very, very casual runner.

^^ Sure, I may not be as physically fit or agile as I once was — I doubt I would be able to run 10km, let alone consider it “measly.” ![]()
As for the mind, I feel much sharper and wiser now: more intelligent, less foolish; more compassionate, less selfish; more cooperative, less competitive.
^^ I do agree that some classes can feel complicated to play, though I should clarify: I mean complicated to play at a high level.
Back in TBC, WotLK, or MoP, for example, classes had loads of spells and abilities to choose from. I remember my action bars being absolutely packed — some abilities were used constantly, while others were more situational. Looking back, many people might see this as bloat, but the class fantasy felt incredible.
So I don’t think the solution is simply to reduce the number of buttons each class needs to press. Legion kind of tried that, but I think they went too far — they over-pruned.
I also think the big difference between then and now is the pressure players feel to play optimally and efficiently all the time. That, perhaps, is the real issue.
Not to name and shame anyone… but in delves the weak aura flags Brann Bronzebeard as a one button user.
That’s kind of a paradox, most things that are high level are difficult.
High level in running is a marathon, which is ~42km. Unlike WoW, IRL distance can’t be nerfed. If someone wants to be a high level runner they just have to train.
Since WoW is a game Blizz can just change what the highest level is. It’s ultimately just an illusion.
Context is everything. Was Usain Bolt not a high level runner?
That’s funny because me even bringing up running has been taken out of context but I didn’t mind because the conversation had been fun.
Then you’ve said “context is everything”, (which I thought of saying earlier) while blatantly having no context regarding this discussion.
Superb.
If you want me to be as pedantic:
No. Usain Bolt was (and probably still is) an elite level sprinter.
Do we say he ran the 100m or he sprinted it? I’m really just getting at the “high level is a marathon” - thats pretty subjective and I’ve realized I don’t even care so have at it.
There is an important distinction here:
This is leisure, a game and a play for fun. Everyone’s invited.
It’s not a competition unless you are at the highest level. Before then it’s just a bit of relaxed item progression comparison which has no relevance to the pinnacle.
Since the game might be too difficult for some, and yet everyone’s invited to participate, measures must be taken to ensure that everyone is able to come along.
I expect augmented reality to work similarly when it arrives for real.
Those of excellent physical form will play without handicap and also compete in championships, while those of lesser physical stature will receive a handicap proper to their level so they too can participate in the games. But they could of course never compete except among themselves and perhaps lower their handicap, or raise it as age takes its inevitable toll.
That’s Single Button Rotation. It’s a handicap to allow progression in the game to the extent it allows it. You can’t use this at the highest levels, unless you are using it in panic because a fly flied into your mouth and you literally have to get it out immediately but the boss just doesn’t care… Then it might be a good extra for the occasion.
The limit of the tool is set by Blizzard, not the community. Blizzard decides what levels this tool is usuable at, at what ranges it can be used.
Blizzard doesn’t say what levels it is to be used at but they have absolutely tested its capacity and then it is for the community to find these ranges. And it’s also this that someone who are not so capable may limp in if others are, which is absolutely intended.
You don’t need to know they’re using a tool, you only need to see the damage come in. If they don’t have the gear needed to produce the damage, they can’t join either.
Few players play optimally, including those of high gear sets. It takes a lot of effort to do so and most, I dare say, will never expend the effort necessary.
What we are really talking about here is who is allowed to come and who is not. Essentially this tool will allow those who could not participate before to do so, limitedly.
The arbiter is Blizzard, they make the game and they make the allowances.
And that’s good, because if it was up to me I’d just ban every guy who was using this to kick people; there’d be no grace at all with me at the helm, I promise you that. I’m you, at the other end.
Stop trying to exclude people from playing the game. Form your own exclusive groups with the friends you have made in the game if you want particulars. Do not try to partition the game’s general population and shape it into your deformed image of fairness.
Oh, right; you never made any friends and that list of 100s you have is worthless because you would never extend to people on it and ask them to join as that’s too much trouble. You rather kick strangers that use the features of the game that you reject for your elitist attitude based on a deep feeling of insecurity.
This isn’t about being elite to any extent, it’s about playing a game.
Entrance to average level Mythic dungeons isn’t a special feat, it’s highly average. And you are not a special kid, you are just average. Live with it and stop wasting other peoples game time.
It is subjective but almost everything is. Which is the original context I brought up running in.
Someone was saying the level of keys someone else did (13/14) was “casual”
I brought up a 10km run as “measly” because in the context of a marathon it is. I also do run 10km multiple times per week and I am a casual runner.
It just kind of snowballed because someone posted a funny gif.
Tell me which specs that can be played with only the assistant button and nothing else
if you use any kind of addon you don’t get to whine about 1 button.
I knew Brann was cheating… ![]()
“You’ll find me, using the one button rotation…”
Yeah! That’s why we’re always looking for your clothes ya cheatin’ pervert…
hang on…
Its official. OBR users play naked.
Or is that just me.
Okay that’s actually hilarious
once you spot these people, you eventually turn blind from rolling your eyes so much
I appreciate this WeakAura—it’s not about shaming anyone, just bringing awareness to different playstyles.
I’ll admit: I leveled my character in Shadow spec using the single-button rotation because it was easy and felt comfortable. But when I switched to Discipline healing, I had to use a proper rotation—or I’d lose a noticeable chunk of haste (probably around 10–20%). Staying responsive became essential.
As an accessibility tool, it absolutely has its place. We don’t need to police players for using it at low levels. That said, I think it’s fair to expect a proper rotation in high-end content—whether that’s Mythic+, raiding, or rated PvP.
And I think it is obvious if someone’s lagging behind.
Hardly need instruments to see that. But there are meters, and those will tell the tale of single buttons and non-belong.
You can do that with a macro. I think every healer and PvP player already does it.
Which is a horrible design. Maybe once we all have latency below 0,001ms… sure. And combined with not being able to move, it’s beyond horrible.
That’s nothing different than a cast sequence macro.
If someone likes that, he can do that. We don’t need devs to dictate that or re-design the game around this kind of macros that exist for decades. This will eventually end up destroying the gameplay than improving it.
Ahh, yea… I was going to, cause I know about them and has since a long time, but then when I started I couldn’t set up the macros cause I suppose they’re locked in the beginning or whatever, and then I thought that I could no longer combine keys like that anymore so I just dropped it.
Good thing you said this cause I got about 40 keys and smite and holy fire are fairly inconveniently placed. Surely there’s other things to combine, like dispel and purge would be nice. But like smite with flash heal and holy fire with heal would be quite super just that.
Going to look into this some more, thanks.
In other things… I haven’t tried invoker, and I won’t, but I think you’re a bit rough on the ideas for the class, it seems to me.
Because it is casual if you are into m+
