It is not. Your gameplay is your business. Where do you draw the line? Is it your business to have a camera in my room live broadcasting how I play just because you are in the key with me? It is my responsibility to sign to the key, knowing that I am able to do it, or trying to progress and do my best in the way I like to play, not yours or other guy. It is a team play and everyone should be responsible for their business in the key. Not you controlling others (btw, I’m main healer and even if I would like to control others, that’s not okay).
If the run didn’t work out, just go next with other people. You don’t have to harass others after the run.
And I can think of like 100 metrics what should be implemented if we are going implement excluding OBR users.
When I’m wearing contact lenses while I play games I don’t blink enough. So even though I wear monthly lenses they get really dry and and I have to giga blink and I can’t see anything for 2-3 seconds quite frequently.
Should I use OBR? I’ve almost died as tank because mechanics I have to avoid go out while I cannot see.
Help people with disabilities do what? Play the game? To what extend? CE? Remember that Blizzard did say that OBR is intended to be used for learning purposes only and for people with disabilities, but not in HIGH END content. Also what kind of disabilities?
Gee, I dunno… The quote I was responding to… the fact that this thread is about players excluding others from content and harassing them in the process.
But you’re right, I do believe a good chunk of the player base is mature and reasonable. Sadly, there’s still a noticeable portion that can be somewhat toxic.
Exactly. And as a group leader it is my responsibility to pick people who will will do just that and not spam 1 and hope the rest of the team would cover.
She isn’t doing that. She’s liking the comments of a person who is calling out a person who constantly mocks people.
Say what you want about me, I play on this character and I’ve got nothing to hide. I say I’m garbo at this game and anyone can get in the keys with me and see I’m not liar.
Didn’t talk to you the whole thread. Sure I’m toxic while others non toxic players literally spamming messages after runs if people used OBR. just shows that you really don’t care of true toxicity, while your friends are along with yourself. Hence acting this way on clear jokes from Gobber in this thread.
So pick your people without metrics. As I said I can come up with 100 of them that will be better than OBR user.
You just act like you are new to the game.
Surprise, you can’t control people!
I get your point, you want only people who are not using OBR. That’s ok I accept it. For the premade content (any content) people are expecting you know your class and you know how to play it. Which leads to this …
Yeah, everyone kinda expects that we know how to play chosen class. I kinda also expect that people know game mechanics - yet I am not calling out people who are using WA or Bigwigs for making game way easier and have literally no clue what is going around (stand here, interrupt this, use trinket, use potion, use taunt, track your stacks of something and so on…).
Some people might be using OBR for valid reasons, some people might be trolling. Yet you want to exclude anyone using it without any consideration.
Since you quit the game I don’t think the OBR ability should bother you. But if you decide to return I hope you’ll be surrounded with good guildmates and you won’t be forced to do any pug runs (either m+ or raid scene). Cause right now, that would be the easiest way for you to solve your insecurity about who you’re inviting into your group.
The one-button rotation exists for anyone who finds it helpful. While it’s an accessibility feature, you don’t need to have a disability to use it — anyone can use it for any reason.
So to answer your question: should you use OBR? Absolutely. If you think it will help, go for it.
It’s far better for players to use accessibility tools to support their gameplay than to risk being harassed for it. Stigmatizing features like OBR can create a negative feedback loop:
Player X uses OBR.
Player Y detects Player X using a WeakAura, harasses them, and removes them from the group.
Player X stops using OBR.
Player Y can no longer detect Player X with their WeakAura.
Player Y ends up grouped with the type of player they were trying to avoid.
Player X’s performance suffers because they self-handicapped due to the stigma around OBR.
Both players have a poor experience.
Player X may avoid content — or even quit the game — due to harassment.
In the long run, this benefits no one except a handful of egos seeking a sense of prestige.
