You sure? Back then tanks had a lot of threat on their abilities also they had talents for that.
Its the new wow where tank need yo do as much damage as they want since new blizzard nerfed the thread from their abilities so much.

Maybe we should also go back to the pro Vanilla healer move of standling idle as much as possible for maximum mana regeneration
Maybe it would make the role less intimidating for new players …
He is sure.
You can try yourself. Make a Classic toon and try it out…
https://youtu.be/GLD90_ukT80?si=XwYzDAZJbce03JNO
There are even memes about this… and there used to be an addon to track threat. For that purpose.
Warrior had to get 5 sunders on a target to keep threat and really had no aoe ablitiy apart from 1 aoe taunt on huge CD.
Priest used to need spirit heavy and mp5 heavy gear to regen not to be constantly oom.
Classic healing and tanking was just annoying.
And why can’t DPS look at the mobs’ frames to figure out which one to kick? What’s the DPS’s job? Bang your head on the keyboard and just do a lot of damage? Can’t they look at the frames because they lose spell rotation and then the mobs don’t die?
I’ll tell you a secret. If the mobs’ casts pass and the whole group gets infected with 3 or 4 stacks of s-it, the mobs still don’t die because the whole group dies.
Bad, right? And whose fault is it? The healer’s. It’s always the healers’ fault if the group dies!
DPS are in this comfort zone because there are tanks and healers to do the dirty work for them.
Well…if you play bm and ret that’s all they do ![]()
As a dps I wholeheartedly agree. We need more responsibilities. Right now all we do is pumping as hard as possible and occasionally use utility.
Kicks gone so we as healers cannot interact with an entire gameplay system anymore and just have to watch.
Reasoning: it’s too stressful for healers. But Resto Shaman keeps the interrupt. Because logic.
We will see Shamans crowding M+ even more.
I’m all for removing some maintenance buffs and trimming down skill sets, there is a good argument to be made for that. But it’s going too far in my opinion and I’m clearly not alone.
What I’ve noticed is that the “pro” WoW YouTubers are all celebrating these changes. Do they just suck up to Blizzard to keep getting their early access? For them, at the highest level of play, DPS will reliably kick and they have nothing to worry about. But what about pugs?
And now Evoker gets 20% bigger Temporal Anomaly balls and a 20% bigger Dream Breath cone. These already barely miss when I play Evoker.
It’s like now we’re playing with LEGO and with Midnight, we’re going back to PLAYMOBIL.
I enjoy Lifebinding my group. I enjoy the Holy Paladin playstyle of having to make instant choices between many options, that combat rhythm. Putting down a Cloudburst Totem as a Shaman and planning ahead.
I enjoy saving my group with a well-timed kick. Keeping the group alive is what healers do. Preventing damage is more efficient than healing the damages from a missed interrupt.
With every other Alpha update right now, I lose something I currently enjoy. And I cannot see how the gameplay will have the same depth for a healer as it has now.
I’ve made the decision for myself to not buy the expansion. I don’t like my “new” class and I don’t like the direction. And I’m a new player! I’ve only started with WoW 3 months ago.
Guys I just visited a mexican restaurant and it was less spicy than this thread.
Because, as Uda so correctly notes, there’s no such thing as over-DPS. So if you can move all the interrupts and defensive responsibility to the other two roles, that’s an objective win for the group.
Every time you ask me to use an AoE shield we just lost a Frostfire Bolt of damage, possibly more.
The fewer responsibilities a DPS has, the more damage they’ll do, and the faster you’ll complete the dungeon, which is the objective of M+, so people try everything in their power to make everything the healer’s and tank’s problem.
Well, say they can’t. What now?
To be honest though I’m not a terribly big fan of this change in M+. I think Uda has a point that healers need to do more than just watching health bars go up and down. There’s gotta be room for some dynamic gameplay here. But if we let them take things that DPS should have to do, then they won’t.
That said, it would be nice to actually be able to cast in PvP every once in a while though instead of having to fake 3 interrupts while forcing the enemies to go through 8 micro-CC’s first, but is this a good thing for M+?
I’m unsure, but there’s definitely a tension here. This is actually rare - much rarer than most people think, but… it happens.
It doesn’t matter for raiding either way. The trash is trivial and the bosses usually can’t be CC’d, and there are plenty of interrupts to go around.
See you in midnight.
Pruning healing cds, defensives and interrupts is a good choice because of how m+ and pvp function.
There is no need for a healer interrupt when only 4 mobs in the whole dungeon cast.
There is no need for 6 defensives when there aren’t 10 back to back one-shots on a 30s interval.
There is no need for 3 healing cds to rotate through, so you can barely top the group, when dmg intake is more streamlined.
It’s all part of a bigger problem. Not to reduce fun, but to reduce a toxic gameplay loop.
So u know how easy it is going to be? Did u played Fellowship? Not one healer has a kick and it isnt really easy either. Also before u flame someone on their skills if u arent in one of the rank 20 guilds u also are mediocre.
This Fellowship thing is really interesting. I’m hearing a lot about it; I haven’t tried it, but it’s probably going to eat a bunch of WoW’s lunch it looks like. At least for a time.
But anyway, from what I hear Fellowship has far fewer abilities than WoW yet the gameplay stays mostly intact. Is that accurate?
I mean… flaming is not okay but that’s a bit over the top mate
Mediocre actually means around the middle. Not even top 10% players are mediocre.
Thanks, I almost spilled my drink
Happy to serve you a new one if you do that. But you’ll be paying for the keyboards.
Because they cant see if the target of the spell is someone at 20% HP or 100% HP. Not in a convenient way atleast.
When it comes to kicking “fireballs”, their job is to kick the ones targeted at THEM. Kind of like poping a defensive when damage is incoming. Same idea.
If it was that easy, there would be no need for OBA would there? Everyone would be doing 12M DPS overall, melting pack and 3 chesting any key bellow a +15.
So? Let me tell you a secret here: DDs can compensate for healer’s mistakes too. For example, poping a self heal. Or a pot.
ANY DD can tell you how smooth things go with a healer that knows what they are doing. They dont even have to look at their HP and can zug-zug all day.
But you want to know another secret? EVERY healer can also tell you the massive difference it makes to play with gigachad DDs. Where instead of stressing over people’s HP bars, you are just AFKing all run.
And by putting BOTH together, that is how you 3 chest keys or time a +18. THAT’S how.
Actually. YES. It IS. Because healers have tools to deal with these things.
I mean… sure… someone dosent kick the “Venom Volley” mechanic in Arakara. But a Rshaman can drop 1 poison clensing totem, or a SLT or a miriad of CDs… and keep the group alive.
I know. It happened yesterday on a +17… So YES. A DD failed to kick that. So what? If I dont pop SLT at that time, I failed too at my job…
That is the mark of a good healer. That is the difference.
So. What kind of healer are you? The one that asks himself “is there something I could have done to save the run or prevent a death”. Or you just let things happen and start the blame-game?
I disagree. By 10000%. Nyagatoro. We did 5 +16s together a few weeks ago. The difference between playing with you, vs. any other DH out there… is night and day.
We timed 5 +16s. And it was not because I am a gigachad. Or because the tank was a gigachad. It was because WE were gigachads. Together.
DDs do have a roll. It’s just less clearly defined. But basically, raw DPS is the most impactful thing you can do in a dungeon. It’s just harder to see.
I have the same approach about the pruning, addons change i love it all tbh. And ofc blizzard will do it bad or we will have major ui bugs will they do mistakes for certain but all in all just sit back and relax instead of panicking on every change. Typical wow player behaviour tho “ ow blizzard we want HUGE changes to the game” blizzard answers” ok let us cook” players” holy horrible changes the game will be unplayable” lol hahahahaha
Well… Blizzard has always been good at taking what other games did well and putting that Blizzard polish on it. Maybe there’s hope?
And any other MMO has taken more from wow then wow from them. Hahaha
See you in midnight.

You long term WoW players all act like you can’t go play something else. I don’t have that baggage. To play WoW I have to not play another great video game. If a subscription game takes a direction I don’t like, I vote with my wallet.
I agree with you that the idea of pruning is a good one. I’ve tried many classes and there is certainly bloat and talents that are not fun or exciting to press.
My point is:
It’s just a lot of things that make me feel challenged, engaged, 5-head and having a good time right now playing WoW, being removed or replaced by things I’m less excited about.
Like Evoker skills getting a giant radius is idiotic to me, as if aiming a Temporal Anomaly correctly right now is too much to ask from a player. Holy Pally in plate armour losing all melee skills save one, and having to spam two buttons (Holy Shock & Judgement) going forward, looks equally dumb (those are my two main classes).
I will enjoy the hell out of TWW Season 3. And see how my classes end up looking come Midnight, or if there’s another class calling my name. If I don’t like how basic everything looks, I’ll find another game to play.
My hot take is that Microsoft wants WoW on Xbox and this is in preparation of that.
Edit: Shortened my reply and made it a bit less gloomy.
Maybe try it first before going all doom and gloom?
Try what? How blizz making a barbie mobile from WoW breaking good things and amplifying trash?
It’s obvious as sargaeras sword in silithus that they are making game gamepad ready while…that’s exactly what they should avoid because it would not bring new people here the game only will loose old players base. Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard already has console game - teso, don’t break damn PC game for real gamers.
And any other MMO has taken more from wow then wow from them. Hahaha
It was the ‘circle of life’ of gaming.
But somewhere down the line, the circle got mauled and now it’s flapping about like a flat tire.
Blizzard needs to steal well, as they’ve done many times in the past. Then others can steal from them again. ![]()
But Resto Shaman keeps the interrupt.
The restoration shaman is a special child. That’s not an insult. In my opinion, given how the class is designed, with the elements, totems, etc., it’s right that it has it. But it’s also very fair that it has a long recovery CD and that it isn’t equivalent to DPS kicks. But if one day Blizzard decides to remove kicks from healers and tanks (I hope that day comes very soon), they should also remove it from the shaman. And put all healers on the same pedestal. It’s a bit tight; I hope they’re not all tauren. ![]()
And now Evoker gets 20% bigger Temporal Anomaly balls and a 20% bigger Dream Breath cone.
Really? Finally! I’m glad they increased the distances on the prevoker. I might play it again, I had a lot of fun with the first season of Dragonflight. Then in the second season, they nerfed him, forcing me to change my build, and I put him on the bench.
I’ve made the decision for myself to not buy the expansion. I don’t like my “new” class and I don’t like the direction. And I’m a new player! I’ve only started with WoW 3 months ago.
Come on, buddy. Don’t give up! At least try it. ![]()
