I haven’t played guilds since Shadowlands. Only PUG. And the s-it that DPS does is clearly visible. I don’t think they ever put kick on the spell bar. “What is this spell? Does it do a lot of damage? No? Then I don’t need it.”
You think about your mediocrity, I’ll take care of mine.
Healing is boring when everyone knows what to do, problem is if you having it stressful you are doing to low difficulty content, go do higher keystone dungeons where you pretty much gauranteed to get players that know what they are doing, unlike lower keys for example, where people soak avoidable damage like a truck and require constant healing.
And no +10 is not a high key its low key where people still learning.
Haha thank you friend. I toned my reply down a bit.
But if I feel it’s not gonna be for me, I don’t wanna give them money and instead want to send a message by canceling my subscription
I hear that a lot in my own guild about Evoker, “it looks great but what if my casts miss.” You already barely miss, it’s so easy to hit your whole party. Unless a Hunter stands 50 km at the back, in which case you’ll miss them anyway. I hate the idea of having a beach ball sized Temporal Anomaly haha. But try Prevoker, I’ve dabbled into all healers and Prevoker is the most unique and fun to me.
So you’re telling me I shouldn’t kick as a tank anymore, because even I, as a tank, don’t know who the cast is directed at?
Wow, perfect! I’ll stop using kick from now on. And I’ll also stop looking at DPS guides (which mobs to kick, etc.) and focus on looking at the dungeon route and only thinking about which mobs to take and which ones to skip. I’ll finally be able to do MY job! Thanks Uda.
50% or more of those casts are directed at you. So. If you don’t want to kick, be my guest…
But its in your best interest, as a tank, to kick the ones targeted at you. Especially because its magical damage. And tanks are weaker to that type of damage than to physical damage.
What did you expect? For DDs, tanks and healers to have the same goals when it comes to kicks?
But here is the thing with DDs. They can get targeted twice in a row with that. They kick the 1st. And the 2nd? Well if he is low in HP the healer has 2 choices: heal him so he survives the cast, or kick the cast and avoid the damage. That is the roll of the healer kick.
And im only talking about the “fireballs”. The “fire volley” casts are on top of that.
So you know my motivation better than I do? Interesting.
In every guild I’ve been in, whoever played the tank was squeezed to the bone, so that EVERYONE in that guild could play. Yes, even the ones who were terrible, who couldn’t finish a +2. If you didn’t help the little ones in the guild, you were out. But this is strange because the main tanks of the raid group never lowered themselves to help the others and that task was done by the last guild tanks. I’m talking about the guilds that finished the heroic raid. At the time I did it because I was just stupid and my stupidity convinced me that playing in a guild was better than playing PUG.
I stopped searching for the Oasis in the desert years ago. I no longer want to have chains on my wrists and feet, dragging an iron ball, and never progress in the game.
By playing alone, I have the FREEDOM to play however I want. And that’s a lot!
The reason why blizzard is getting rid of healer interrupts is we had to many spam casters in m+. Maintenance kicks are not fun. Getting 1 shot because I got hit by 1 spambolt that overlaps with another mechanic (Halls of atonement 2nd shard of halkias pull) is not fun.
Which is not your job as a healer. It’s the dps job.
It really shows that you are a new player. Not in a negative way, but you miss what happened in past seasons and why the current dmg intake is a huge problem.
Sure, go ahead and heal a dps that gets 1 shot through a def cd because he get targeted by 2 bolt casts.
You can’t heal that. It’s not fun for the healer, because there is nothing they can do. And it’s not fun for the dps because they have no counterplay.
These changes are all directed at m+. They are good changes because they shift the responsibilities from healers (which were hardcarrying keys since shadowlands S1) to dps (we had no responsibilities aside from „zugzug as hard as possible“).
How is it idiotic? Prevoker having only 30y range is a huge issue and why people are not playing it. Some bosses (s2 last boss in rookery) are not playable.
Oh I agree 100%. That is a valid concern. I have 2 friends who Main holy pally and they are not happy about it. It’s a weird direction, why would holy pally lose all their melee abilities?
I think this is a very idealistic view. Yes, even when I tank dem “casual”" +12s/+13s, I sometimes wonder if those zugzug DPSes are able to even tie their shoelaces.
Yet, its been like this for years already and suddenly expecting DPS to not only interrupt but interrupt the correct spells. Meaning, not just randomly trying to interrupt all 3 together 1 random cast but actually making sure that all “bad oneshoting spells get interrupted” so they will set up their UIs to be able to see what mob casts what…and asking for DPS to stop watching their rotation and CDs buttons for a sec…. yeah… .
All in all, in my view it will backfire. It will be the same as removing police and courts and asking people to “stop doing crimes and be descent human beings”.
Yeah..

That.
It’s about history. Taking interrupt away from shamans would be outrageous, regardless of spec. The low 6s cooldown of Earth Shock combined with Grounding Totem defined the class in early WoW made them master of caster disruption to the point where there are PvP videos of a level 52 enhancement shaman farming T2 geared mages in duels. It’s be like taking away Fireblast from fire mage or Rake from Feral Druid, or Rejuvenation from Resto, Curse of Agony from Warlocks. I’d call it less likely than Demon Hunters losing Metamorphosis. It would just be ridiculous.
Right now I have multiple tools for that: heals, shields, crowd control, interrupt. I agree with you that the core identity of a healer is to push health bars up but having a wider toolbox adds depth and variety to gameplay.
Preventing damage is much more powerful than healing that damage using multiple cooldowns. So it adds to my enjoyment and skill as a healer to land the occasional kick.
As a DPS on the other hand, I want to maximize damage to kill monsters quickly. In that sense, one could argue if breaking their damage rotation to kick should be a DPS’ job.
Was it more fun past seasons? Because I’m having so much fun with WoW right now. TWW Season 3 is my first full retail season.
I just think there should be multiple damage patterns so healing doesn’t feel samey: rot damage, spikey damage, single-target focus damage, group-wide .. to keep things interesting. Everyone in the group evenly losing health sounds a bit simple on paper.
I understand your point to distribute responsibility more evenly. Though it is nice to have the option to kick in case DPS is not on top of their game, someone died or doesn’t know the dungeon well, or whatever it may be. Pug runs don’t always go perfectly. And at high level play everyone knows what they have to do anyway so there it doesn’t matter.
And that’s just group content. Being the only one without kick in solo PVE sucks. Why complicate things so much for the creation of future PVE content, just to get rid of one more button.
OK interesting. In the current dungeons I never felt like my range was too limited. I have people in my guild telling me it’s too limited, which are those who haven’t played Prevoker. And in raid, you only need to hit 5 people anyway before the power of your heal significantly drops. I already hit half the screen with my Dream Breath as is.
I appreciate your detailed reply and the positive discussion!
Now now, flaming . I have an opinion that does not match yours. You are the one that adds an insult on the last end of your message, but I am fine with that .
Imo Shadowlands and BfA were peak M+. But both expansions had huge problems. In BfA healers were pretty much useless (no healing was needed) and Shadowlands m+…well it was Shadowlands. While m+ was good, other systems like covenants, conduits and general balancing broke the game.
I completely agree. Only rot dmg is boring. Only spikey dmg is boring,
The problem is that prior to S3 TWW it was ONLY spikey dmg. At certain key ranges bosses started to 1 shot you through def cds.
It shouldnt complicate future dungeon design.
Spike dmg should go down because we lose def cds.
There wont be that many Spamcasters anymore because healers lose their interrupt (and the casters cant double target 1 person anymore).
Its still Alpha and many things can change, maybe Blizzard goes back with that change and healers keep their interrupt.
I just want a nice m+ experience without Spamcasters that commit hatecrimes and bosses that 1 shot through def cds. Even this season is not that fun to play (imo).
I think the current dungeon design is really friendly because most of the time the group can always stay together and move as one.
In Rookery the last boss forced the group to split into 3 camps (tank + dps heal + dps and dps solo) because the boss spawned shards that were really spread.
I try my best and sometimes it can seem that i am toxic, but I am usually chill unless someone spreads misinformation and refuses to discuss it.
Anyway i hope that makes some things clearer. When it comes to healers there are more knowledgable than me, i am just a filthy dps main
And what your comments say is that you apparently like to play in Heroic Raid F&F guilds, that DONT have a competitive goal, and more of a “social” goal… However. You somehow think that you can expect any sort of “performance” from those individuals… its WEIRD.
Fair. I also PuG my high keys. But just like Guilds, Pugs are no different.
If you join a +10, you will NOT find anyone that cares about performance there. You will find a ton of “farmers” that want their mythic gear in the vault with the minimal possible effort.
If you do a +14 on the other hand… people there are not to farm anything. They are there to time the key. Nothing else.
And you will find “quality” people that matches their RIO. The more RIO, the better quality. SIMPLE.
I dont know your motivations. I try to guess them from your comments. Including the ones above.
You are playing +10s. And trashing the quality of people playing those 10s. As if you knew better. OK. I get it. You can play better than some dudes that “just want to have a chill time”.
But YOU are the problem. YOU are in the wrong party. YOU have to go to a party that better aligns YOUR interests and expectations.
