Thoughts on the new Arachnophobia Mode in the war within?

Huh? How does that work, didn’t it only affect the game on your side, meaning that even if you made a tiny character only you would see it as tiny and the rest of the players seeing it regular?

It was affecting the game files. People were up to all sorts of shenanigans both suitable and unsuitable.

Initially a ban wave went out then they reverted it with a warning that this kind of modification would end in account closure going forward. It was going to hit a lot of people who weren’t using it to cheat per se.

Yeah but i though it was only affecting the users game files not the entire player base, if so then yikes, it’s scary to believe that it even got as far as it did.

There were various mods, not all did the same things.

However it’s now just blanket banned for good reason.

Tmorph was the name of addon that was banned and changed so many file’s.

‘Our table’ meaning…? The dwarf table?

I stepped down. They removed the green… but not the letters lol.

I think that people with treatable diseases should see a professional instead of wasting resources for everyone else.

I am generally against any policy that reduces the game to the lowest common denominator.

Because once you do things for a minority of players with treatable conditions, you then get in the very nasty conundrum of : What to do with the other thousands of phobias out there?

Untreatable conditions (like color blindness) then yeah… you should try to do something about that.

When I was young we walked to school bare-foot, up hill, and in twenty feet of snow

That is what you sound like

Why ?

Im not saying suck it up if you have Arachnofobia… im saying : Go see a professional. Get help.

Dont just sit in the couch playing WoW…

Most of us who are arachnophobes aren’t bothered by pixel spiders and we’ve been slaying them since Vanilla, it’s the real big fat ones living their best lives right next to you on a wall that’s troublesome.

I personally don’t need this mode and I won’t use it.

If it helps in any way : Spiders consume a ton of flies and moskitoes.

They are really helpful to keep the dangerous pests out of your home. Atleast try not to kill them if you see them.

They are the good guys. Even if they look totally terrifying.

is it only for NPCs and enemy mobs?

anyone know whether things like “bloodfang cocoon” is affected? because having an anti spider mode where a players mount can still appear as a spider … seems you know… silly.

Won’t use it, don’t need it, happy it is there for the people who want/need it. Also, so not my place to judge whether someone should use the filter or “face their fears”.

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

I’d rather have them around eating mosquitos, than the mosquitos eating me.

As for the mode: It’s a sign of the times. :person_shrugging:t3:

Want a medal?

A real one or a virtual one? :kissing_heart:

You sound like the dimwit here. There’s nothing to understand other than you’re exactly as dumb as you think you are smart.

Weak minded people in my eyes.

I am on the same page as you.

Fears should be faced and overcome. Not the world changed to avoid your fears.

That aside, the Arachnophobia mode seems badly implemented. Those crabs will just float in the air when there should be Nerubians hanging from the ceiling like a spider.

I hate spiders myself, doesn’t mean the game has to change because I hate them. After all, I have the ability to just KILL THEM ingame, which is imo therapy enough.

Really a waste of development resources imo.

Edit: Or a friend of mine from turkey. Has more arachnophobia than me. Also same perspective. It doesn’t bother him really that much in games, because in most games he can just kill them.
