Tired of lvl 60, back to my low levels

I’m just wondering if more WoW Classic players out there who feel the same.

Basically, imo, at lvl 60 it really starts feeling like a chore. Get this BiS, enchant it, farm that rep, get your epic mount asap. And always farm your consumables for raids. It’s like a damn exam where you just need to have your things in order to compete. And what is it you are competing for? Gear? So that you can become better at competing? I don’t like this cycle.

And the high level areas and dungeons are dark, depressing and oozing with seriousness. Not like the green, lush, low level areas.

And the attitude at lvl 60 is just… sickening. The arrogance, snobbery and the self-entitlement is the reason why it’s a turn-off for me.

There is just something about being low level that still feels like a game that is enchanted with child-like innocence. Fast level ups, every tiny peace of gear feels like a big upgrade, exploration of areas, new dangerous zones where you have to be careful. Down to earth communication with other players where there actually IS time to stop and smell the flowers, doing some emotes, showing acts of kindness and maybe even role play.

Compared to lvl 60 fast, fast, FAST runs for that % chance drop item or that extra honor.

If I should compare this in my mind, it seems to me like at lvl 60, it’s just a casino with pretty graphics, whereas at level 14 you actually feel like you ARE part of the world of Warcraft.

I get what you are saying.
On top of that I’d like to add that you probably rushed things to get your BIS.
And there is a reason people are raidlogging.

The sense of adventure is lost, when you start min-maxing.

I know this is how it feels to be lvl 60, that’s why I’ve invested 11days on this hunter (57atm). I’m in no hurry, been there done that (been on many pservers), will go in to mc when guilds DE all items and just give it away

Also started some other character I intend to level up this spring.

I mean, this is what’s happened when you’ve had private servers for ages and that you know all BiS etc.

Classic was always going to be a BiS / min-max

I haven’t even bothered going for BiS to be honest. I’ve an army of alts that I’m slowly f levelling (horde and ally) and in time they’ll all get to 60 and then abandoned.

I was so looking forward to AV but it’s a huge letdown. Last chance saloon for me will be AB and ZG.

So true! I can’t wait for Zul’Gurub, best dungeon ever

I love the lower level areas, especially Darkshire, I love the atmosphere there and sort of hate it when I outlevel it, its like its all downhill from there.

I now have the clone of this toon at level 59 on PvE, and I really cant be bothered to push it to 60 for anything more than to use it as a cash source for my lower alts

This is honestly just the tip of the iceberg.
We have MC and OX out right now.
So farming either gear, gold or rep are pretty balanced.
Come AQ40, many people will start to realise that they only need more and more consumables.
And it’s very easy to get overwhelmed.
So far i still have a feeling that logging an alt would halt progression on my main.
I can’t play all day everyday and i’m still enjoying myself and bracing for what’s to come.

It’s your choice?
I have far from bis, I have a decent idea what BIS is having played before, but who cares? I run whatever instance I feel like.
I did onyxia and a full clear MC once.
I joined a raid guild where 2-3 friends are but I’m flagged as a social.
I did some WSG premade because it’s more fun than AV. I don’t care about rank since I remember how it turned the game into a chore.

Does it matter? No I enjoyed just running it for fun. Will I grind them? No
Do I do what I want? Yes

Most people want to be efficient in what they do, but yeah you need to think about what you enjoy doing so good for you! Currently leveling a shaman on another server where I have friends from the vanilla days. They treat the game like me so that should be good. We got to see most of Naxx so no need to push again.

Sure you can do what you want, but this game is designed to make you keep playing whether you like what you are doing or not.

It almost feels like the game cheats you into thinking, that it’s all fun and adventure from start to end.

But then, when you hit max level and realize how much time and energy you have invested in your character, there is this need to keep going, otherwise it feels like wasted effort.

everyone experiences the game in their own way. But in the sense of RPG the charachter progression while leveling is far more noticable then when you’re acquiring gear at max lvl. That could contribute to your preference for low lvl playing.

Max lvl indeed is just a grind to getting your char as best outfitted as possible because that’s all thre is to it at that point, since you’re max lvl. Some find it a boring, grindy chore. Ohters love it and don’t mind farming HoJ an entire night. To each their own.

One of the best posts I’ve seen , I’m still level 55 and ticking along at my own pace , enjoy the game , if that’s not level 60 content so be it.

I’ll be hitting 60 then trying out the horde levelling experience with a bit of AV on my paladin .

Agree with several people here. My priest is 51 and I really don’t want her to get to level 60 as I know I shall just stop playing her. Just started several alts, and thoroughly enjoying my 14 Hunter with her pink bird…we’ll see. The journey is the best part in this game, “end” game, boring and a waste of time.

Unfortunately, WoW doesn’t have much of a journey as it’s too linear, although I’m still enjoying it in a laid back manner, but…I will never ever go back to retail.
Many more games out there with more content and less elitism.

The thing I dislike most is that nobody wants to do the endgame dungeons. They just want to to orb runs, rend runs, arena runs… but not actually do the dungeons. The magic is gone from this game, but I suppose we already knew that.

Yeah - I just played retail for the first time in over a year with my 120 human warlock. I wanted to continue the main quest line to see the story and where it takes me (the one with 10 phases, restoring Darkshore, etc.).

In the beginning it felt ok but then I noticed the same annoying things like I did when BFA first launched (or any other modern expansion, for that matter). First of all: being the main hero, the saviour of the world and the chosen one - it is sickening, especially when I know that this is a multiplayer game and everyone is basically “the main hero”.

So it feels like a scripted rollercoaster ride that anyone will experience in almost exactly the same way. The battle sounds overlap the robotic conversations between the characters and I just keep getting annoyed that they keep shoving sh@t into my face, believing that it would somehow improve my experience. Half-way through this quest line I stopped caring and just wanted to finish it. And I did finish it, and I was granted a nice cinematic (which I could have watched on Youtube, if only I could tell myself that I deserve to watch it without putting up through this grindy and brainless process of getting there).

And then I realized once again that they keep shoving story into WoW (at least retail) and this story is in your face all the time. The story tries to give you the immersion that you are a part of it.

But just doesn’t work because MMORPG is just a wrong genre for this kind of presentation of the story.

I am looking forward to finally be fed up with WoW Classic and Retail and to convince myself that what I am looking for in those games is simply not there.

And I’m looking forward getting back to single player (RPG) games, that does the job of storytelling and immersion so much better.

And the fact that those single player games have an ending actually makes it more meaningful. Especially if your character dies in the end.

But this could never happen in an MMO, which is why I simply don’t think that it’s my kind of genre.

So, yeah… I will play my WoW Classic alts and at some point stop caring about them, because I will know that their destiny is ultimately: lvl 60, grind, grind and grind (for drop-chance & numbers).

It’s like a flame that is born - it burns brightly and it gives you light and heat - and then it runs out of fuel and dies. And that is beautiful, if only you can accept the fact that nothing is forever.

Well it’s why I back then played on a pvp server. There was a lot of fun in between raids. We did bg premades, not for rank but for fun. World pvp for getting world bosses was great, I enjoyed helping people with silithus bosses, the AQ quest line, doing instances with few people, raiding.

This time around I won’t experience that by choice since I don’t want to commit as much time, but if you can’t find a way to enjoy the little things that are to the most part community driven and just focus on pre-bis and raids then yes Classic will loss its lure quickly. That’s fine though? Just move on. It’s just a game, not your life’s achievement.

… Lies

If it was fun to get there it’s not wasted. I guess it depends on your expectation.

I now migrated to join ex guildies from vanilla. A nice laid back guild that does raids, dungeons and other things together. I think too many here just take it too seriously. You don’t need TuF after a week, you don’t need do 100 runs of the same instance for pre BIS. If you feel that you do then you need to question why you do.

I just run whatever dungeon I feel like, without looking too much at the loot. I definitely don’t grind it over and over.

I’ve taken my time with it all. I’ve always been a bit of an altoholic so haven’t dinged 60 on any char yet. There’s still quest chains around I’ve never done before, largely as the retail game turned into a rushfest so for years stuck to the areas I know well and could just burn through. I quest on my ‘main’ in a pairing with my other half so we’ve managed to stick pretty close xp wise and both have rediscovered the joy of battlegrounds (well wsg atm). The current trend seems to be to claim any item for sale in trade is BiS or pre BiS even when it isn’t and when any of my chars ding 60 that’ll likely be when I get bored and focus on an alt for a while. Completely agree with many of the comments above, especially on how some take it all far too seriously.

I generally annoy people by ignoring bis, being too lazy for world buffs and still getting decent logs lol. I mean why wear ugly outfit (I mean, I have to wear banana shoulders for pvp but I can deal with this as bananas are tasty asf) when I can wear pretty things.

Never been one for BiS lists anyways, prefer to gear to my own advantage and do my own personal theorycraft if I need it.

People who take it seriously, I respect their way of playing and that they like to do bis stuff, until they try to force the mentality on me then I poke fun at them til they chimp out.

My mentality is “do what makes you happy” :>
