For my druid it will require relearning how to shapeshift. 18 years of muscle memory.

You can also do it the other way around. Depends how many mouse buttons you have. In the system requirement of wow, blizzard lists “mmo mouse”, so it’s not like they didn’t know what they were doing. Also, there are many other ways to bind keys. I just have this system personally, because it works for me. Other people press shift/alt/control + whatever on their keyboard only. It all works.

Is that changed since DF or something? When we start playing they also put abilities on the numbers 1-9 actionbar.

I’m not seeing anything there stating any such recommendation.
Yeah I read it a while ago, and didn’t see “recommended”. But 2 mouse buttons is something most gamers have, and 2 mouse buttons are enough alrdy for modifiers enabling you 30+ combos.
Multi-button mouse with scroll wheel.
That is a normal mouse with 2 buttons on the side and a scrollwheel. Not an MMO mouse with i do not know how many buttons.

No they don’t. They just recommend a mouse with a scroll wheel and side buttons (buttons 4 and 5).
I already use shift+ctrl+alt and I’m still out of comfortable binds. No I’m not going to bind alt+G and stuff like that.
I put my thumb on my mouse to press control and then press 1-5, A-G or y-v with my other hand. It’s comfortable. Just get creative, holy…

My button 4 and 5 are since forever strafe 
And that’s just the first problem, because you don’t just have to manage the binds, you have to manage the timers and usages in your head as well. It’s not just keyboard overload, it’s mental overload.
I mean no surprise lol… Maybe restructure…

The solution to that is being patient and practicing…
But yeah, mages could be pruned a little.
I think 20-30 keybinds is a good range. I also agree +40 keybinds is too much.
When i started playing i searched a lot about setups. And a lot of people showed mouse char movement. So you can press abilities on the keyboard while having perfect char movements. And they all had bound strafe to 4 and 5. It seemed quite regular used. And it made sense 
I am for sure not going to completely relearn playing the game.
There’s a problem here.
The difficulty of the game depends on what you fight and your intrinsic character.
The more you move into the character, the less room there is for fight difficulty, otherwise the game becomes too difficult. It gets samey, but more important the skill floor goes up.
I think it would be hard to argue that I can’t learn my class and keybinds with a 3k RIO score, but I’m still frustrated about this because the game is dying because of it.
