I’m at 35 + arena1+2+3 + focus target. It’s over 50 total.
It’s absolutely out of control.
And it’s really fast as well. approx 65 abilities per minute + movement + targeting + extra clicks to optimize ability to go off as fast as possible after the last one.
The best part of all this is new players start out with the binds 1234567890+´
xD
Sadly only if the community and new players were to be taught keybindings the game wouldn’t be so complicated, actually, I find that sometimes you need to level a character to learn the spec and it’s rewarding to learn it.
I support that blizz add a pre-setup key binding map for newer players with very easy toggle between, one you had from zero, one they give, one you made, and ofc there is the default.
Otherwise, a way to remove all talent points and use less in a place to learn your skill when you change to a spec you never played point by point, YES I AGREE, when you start a new spec/class and you have every ability at once it gets very frustrating and you have a hard time learning the spec.
But in the end, if you learn it you should not have a hard time, and this goes with everything in life, except if the frustration comes from a factor you cannot control at all.
Bfa was so prunned that I just could not play of boredom, and ap is something that should make for it, they were so random/powerful and unbalanced in general.
Yeah in PvP I agree, but I think arena in wow is just broken anyway due to targetting issues. I think they should fully move wow pvp to RBG honestly. As a warrior it’s a non-issue, because I just focus-target, but I also got almost to 2k with a frost mage and I know how you feel there. It is mentally taxing for sure.
That’s a separate issue though, because making button count good for Arena makes it too trivial for PvE. If you have to bind 1-3 for every ranged CC, ofc u’ll get overwhelmed with so many buttons meant for M+. That’s a deeper issue sadly.
F1-5 (5)
tilde-7 = 8
q e r t f (5)
alt + tilde-4 q e r (8)
ctrl 2-4 (3)
(got some shifts to for potions but i do not want to count those)
mousewheel click (dont want to count either)
29 keyboard buttons. And there are quite some overlapping buttons like my blessing of sacrifice is the same as battle res, and aura mastery is the same button as blessings of seasons but then mouseover, or a mouseover for instant consuming divine favor + healing spell which is on the same button as something else.
I get easily over 30 bound abilities. And that is just for M+. No pvp taken into account.
Yeah and if you used multi button mouses, you’d have way way more options that are comfortable too. But yeah, some outliers should be reduced, but in general, most classes are fine. Mainly Shaman and mage have tons of abilities.
The annoying thing is that the keybind difference between PvP and PvE is too big,
I mean; it isn’t even about having the keybinds. It is about the amount of abilities. And i get way over 30. The question is more what is a reasonable amount.
Which means i can make the conclusion we got too many.
Yeah exactly. I have been very creative too with multiple abilities on the same keybind depending on the target or mouseover. On my resto shaman i got into same kind on trouble where for example i place a slow totem (or root totem) on F3, but when i have my mouse on any unitframe it is anti-fear totem
No you can’t. Most specs are fine and within that range. You can make that conclusion for you personally, but be specific about which specs need it. Not all. Does DK need button count reduction? No. Does ret need? Nope. Does warrior need? Hell no.
The lower rows on the corsair scimitars side-buttons are uncomfortable to reach. Maybe it’s more comfortable if you’ve got smaller hands but that mouse disappears in my hands and I have to put my thumb in a very weird position to be able to press the lower rows.
I’m on the other end with small hands. The average woman’s hand size is larger than mine, and I’m male. And the palms are tiny too. I use women’s gloves, and I can’t reach space bar, W, and F1 at the same time.
That’s another part of this problem: Small hands! Are we just gonna go like “well half of women shouldn’t be able to play WoW” now?
I can’t believe this.
I agree with Hokage that 20-25 buttons is a good amount, but I’m at twice that.
Yeah on my warrior and DH I use around 25 buttons actively and it feels really good. In PvP a little more, but not much, because I just use focus on melee. You can also use only focus keybinds on your mage and mouseover for decurse in PvP. Reduces your button count a lot there, but mage specifically has a bit too much utiltiy stuff available in PvP like slow, ice nova, frost nova, etc.
Blizzard really needs to introduce a “max button count” of a spec for their designers.
However, this thread is a classic player saying, we should go to 10 keybinds, which probably is even lower than classic…
I’ve tried this and it just results in panicked mouse movements. For example hex → stun on me, I have to be FAST or I die.
No it isn’t. You were very much included in the list I accused of misrepresenting the argument. This guy was fine with vanilla and vanilla has way more than 10 buttons you should keybind (even if it only has 12 actual keybinds by default, but that’s another matter)
They should increase the talent build list because that way you can keep pvp, world, pve, mythic, raid ui and talent aside from each other, but with the same keybinds.
With every talent build saves your action bar settings (with abilities) are changed with them.
A too small mouse was bad for me. I used to use a too small MMO mouse and it hurt my thumb, the tendon and the joint. I switched to the Corsair Scimitar and it’s way better as the buttons are bigger.
My sister uses the same type of mouse I used to use and she has small hands and no issues with it.
if it interests you, I watched some PvP streamer playing a priest in solo shuffle (for this buccaneer transmog reward) as his off spec once (I think his name was pikaboo I think), and he was unironically using either using mouseover or clicking for all his heals/dispells, etc. and even rightclicking frames for focus target at over 2k rating
