Top 5 Worst Types of People to RP with?

Hohoho, you must hate Vaxir.

Although he’s reversed.

I too hate groovey people

But what if they are??

People re-appropriating LGBT characters for their personal fetishes is especially gruesome because it makes marginalised people face even more stigma than they normally do. : (

what are you gonna do about it bull boy? :cow:

I don’t get it, its bad to have a character that isn’t fond of a certain race in this setting?

Its a problem when playing an exclusionary character cuts off more roleplay than it creates, or when real-world stereotypes lie behind the IC speech.

“It’s how my character would act” is a weak excuse when you decide how your character acts. There’s a good article on the subject that might as well be required reading for all roleplay.

get stabbed in the middle of broad daylight in orgrimmar while 5 guards look away

or in your case they’ll watch while you get stabbed ayy

So you’d assume that cause my orc here hates undeads and demons and any that is agreeable with them, I myself IRL is a racist? despite the very good reasons why someone would hate these nefarious races in the setting of World of Warcraft?

I think I will resort to NPC guards from now on. this blatant RACISM in the orgrimmar GRUNTS is loreBREAKING and WRONG

You’d assume wrongly if that’s your assumption of my assumption.

I said when it is problematic for a character to hold those views. If you don’t, good for you.

(should maybe consider why you automatically jump to defending yourself but good for you)

Dont get me wrong sir. If is not lore breaking there is no problem at all. But imagine people in stormwind, mostly humans and gnomes in the middle of a square, inside a tavern, near guards in the afternoon, chasing elves and insulting them for no reason. Then if you do some criticism ooc, trust me the 2 reactions are the same. Or the lose their *hit, calling u a drama queen or they act terrebly offended and they “invite” you to respect their characters while they keep offending you. I call this the “notice me sempai syndrome”. But ofc, this is just my personal opinion. Maybe in the red side people act better.

IC racism isn’t… impossible. But I do agree it’s often played off so weirdly or extremely to the point of absurdity.

Remember when void elves were added? Now I hate the race as a concept but we had people assaulting or trying to lynch them IC. Or all the Light wielders branding them as heretics and trying to burn down the embassy over it (Wtf?) while unironically shouting LUMEN VULT as if that’s a thing.

All of this based on ONE priest NPC being slightly uncomfortable with a VElf entering the cathedral, he didn’t try to crucify them or anything yet there we were. A friend of mine actually had to intervene multiple times an evening to stop people beating up VElves in the street shortly after their introduction.

And yet, when you speak to VElf NPCs they comment on how the civilians were “cautious, but welcoming” to their arrival. No mention of beatings, hangings or smitings. The absurdly extreme response to the race was pure derpy headcanon and I couldn’t help but feel it was purely fueled by OOC dislike of the race, shielded by “it’s how my character would react!” x50, one for each person who reacted that way. At which point that very defence starts becoming dubious. Snide remarks or distrust I could understand but I’m pretty sure the Stormwind guard would curbstomp any attempted murdering of a member of the Alliance in SW.

My suspicion that it’s purely OOC driven is based on the fact that this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this sort of response to a new race. I remember when people were racist IC towards pandaren, quite horribly so. And they had no basis for it at all that time. Same for draenei (Though admittedly they are technically “demons” AKA Eredar, but as fellow Light lovers you’d have thought otherwise) in TBC, same response.

And when it’s not any of those, they turn on gnomes and dwarves, who have been allies for decades. And when it’s not those? They turn on dark skinned humans. And it’s the same people doing this every time, or at least the same attitudes, responses and excuses “It’s just my character bro”. Which as I said, loses value when it’s repeated by an entire crowd. It just comes off as unnecessarily edgy, cringe-inducing and very blatantly driven by OOC values at the worst of times (I have seen people unironically use real world racial slurs towards darker skinned humans, what the actual f***?).

tl;dr: IC racism is certainly possible. But more often than not it’s edgelords being edgelords or people playing out a very specific fantasy through RP that they probably wish they could play our IRL. Or actively do. And use “it’s just Rp bruh” as a defence when things take a turn for the extreme and people start getting uncomfortable, even if it flies in the face of what is established in the lore.

Please tell me that’s not a thing people have started saying in RP while I was off… I don’t want to expect the worst, but… it’s Stormwind, isn’t it?
