Garrosh pulled a 900 IQ Genji main move during that invasion.
He started a couple of fires to smoke out the elves from the trees. “But that’s idiotic, we can just use magic to remove the smoke lol” says the elf.
Exactly.
Garrosh was waiting for the elves to call down their magic, and when they did they revealed their exact positions to him and he bombarded their positions with demolishers.
Garrosh was the Grandmaster Genji player of WoW and we shall never see his likes again. Miss me with this 50D chess with Sylvanas bs
My point is not that they’re infallible but more the writers will decide when they win not based on their technology but simply when the plot demands it. I.E most factions with advanced tech would annihilate the bow-wielding hippies but if the plot calls for it ayy lmao bows r sick bro!!
They technically won the Ashenvale front during the Cataclysm war.
At least Ashenvale went back to Alliance hands after Garrosh was deposed, IIRC. Horde got to keep Azshara. Not sure what happened in Stonetalon.
I’d argue as part of the Alliance then whenever the Alliance wins the night elves wins, since it’s faction vs faction not race vs race.
EDIT: And yeah, they win in Darkshore, apparently. Alliance won both warfronts.
I’m going to get lynched by my fellow night elf roleplayers for saying this, but some (not all) seem to think that unless the sentinels whoop the Horde’s collective butt all on their lonesome then nothing will count as a victory for them, which is utterly unrealistic.
The night elf military simply don’t have the strength. Their race has been dwindling in numbers ever since WotA, which is something folks tend to forget. They’re supposed to be the underdogs, similar to the blood elves and gnomes (and Nightborne, but they’re technically night elves, too).
To put it as bluntly as possible, night elf roleplayers can be incredibly salty for a lot of small, insignificant details and want their race of choice to overcome every single challenge unscathed, which would make for pretty boring storytelling.
Don’t get me wrong, some of the complaints are reasonable (e.g the glaive issue) but not everything about the night elf’s portrayal is the work of the devil.
Big agree. That’s why I wrote this last year, since imho the night elf story is one of tragedy as they’re stuck in the past and struggling to reconnect with the world they once ruled as their own and coming to terms with the fact that they’re not the dominant civilization anymore.
That is infinitely more interesting to me than some mary sue power play where they are infallible and can defeat everything single handedly unscathed but also they’re really beautiful and popular and everyone loves them and they can do no wrong
Not gonna lie, I low-key want to play my watcher character but I struggle to find the time/inspiration to devote her to a guild.
I also wish we had single-minded fury back. Sure the Night Warrior customization blocks all DK customization and it lets me play as a plate wearing dual wielding warrior, and IC my night elf always used frost magic way back when she was a sentinel shooting frost arrows, but I want single-minded fury back
Night Warrior’d DK is the best choice for representing my watcher, but I really wouldn’t want to have to be ((not a DK IC)) for it.
