People more interesting in the power politics behind roleplay, than actually roleplaying. I.E the infamous Gilnean Civil war a few years back.
people that deny me my peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
ingredients:
1 jar of peanut butter
1 jar of jelly
Unfortunate choice of words my friend
Also.
People who look at an IC dislike of Velves/DH/DK, and think that’s the perfect opportunity to start spouting racist 4chan memes, with the serial numbers filed off.
I remember the early anti-velf RP having this cycle of
1: purely IC protests
2: people begin reacting.
3: IRL politics start being shoved in
4: things get really salty and toxic, really quickly.
5: the RP dies.
Absolutely hate those kinds of people, a-yup.
Rat…
Agreed. Another great example for this are the type of people who say they are strongly anti-bullying but then also say that some people just need to be bullied from the server.
Players with twenty or so titles - Most of them are alright, but not really important and most of them are none important at all. Do you usually go through the list of titles you suddenly have? “Muffin thief | Mother | Cake Lover” etc. etc.
Oh. Almost forgot.
People who try to hide incredibly sexualized RP, by hiding it with this veneer of “grittiness.” Usually involving stuff like torture RP. RP quickly becomes really awkward when you realize the other guy is getting off to what you thought was really normal roleplay.
I remember being there and you weren’t there at all
Yeah like that one dude asking to get moderator role on every role play related discord he joins

Never gets old.
dont forget brown bread!
pbj sandwich with white bread
I definitely was. Just on my old Velf mage. The RP was fun at the start.
Never forget the five human farmers, each with similairly colored gear, a different hat, and a farming implement/tool each. Those guys were amazing.

As many others have written, people who struggle to separate IC and OOC. Behind a dislikeable character might very well be a likeable person.

Drama embracing people who are constantly belittling or putting someone down, or making jabs at someone’s slights to feel better about themselves, to feel a sense of empowerment online or simply for amusement. Sometimes all the gossip makes me uncomfortable and that’s why I avoid most AD related Discords and in-game OOC channels. Nobody is perfect. Mistakes happen. Communicating courteously at all times is hard and it’s easy to vilify someone’s entire person. But actively nurturing OOC gossip and drama encourages something akin to a Big Brother environment where the focus shifts from just enjoying RP to feeling like people are looking for reasons to mock each other OOC.
Unfortunately, in nine out of ten cases, these people - once they’ve got comfortable with me - will then start filling every conversation by inserting how bad X is at roleplaying, how ridiculous Y’s character is, how Z doesn’t even know the lore… yeah.
Same thing happens in most guild and community Discords I join and I’ve left most of them for the same reason. I enjoy talking about roleplaying; about this vast universe and hobby shared by thousands of us. Why then, in almost every instance, does the conversation always magnetically bounce back to talking crap about other people? It’s dull .
That’s the kind of roleplayer I hate OOC.
I agree

Glory Hogs. Some people seem to forget they’re here to RP with other people who perhaps equally want their character to do something. If you’re constantly solving the problem, summoning up the solution, talking over others, performing every action and making every move, and all while portraying your character as some enviable wonder of the world… it’s not impressive. It’s very boring to RP with because no one else might as well be there.
Play to Win’ RPers who never allow their characters to show weakness, take physical (or, dare I say, emotional) damage, and only seem to exist to prove to themselves that they’re the biggest and baddest in the room.
The worst type of roleplayer is the person who has no regard for anyone’s fun but their own. Their way is the only way; for them, roleplay is a competition to be won, not a passtime to enjoy with others.
People with no clear divide between IC/OOC are the ones I refuse to interact with. It’s so common and only seems to be happening with increasing frequency on AD.
It’s utterly astonishing how many people fail to grasp that if a character’s cruel and aggressive, it does not mean their player is as well. If a character’s mean to your character, they do not hate you OOC. If a character’s confronting your character? They are not harassing you OOC. I’m genuinely baffled by the number of times conflict roleplay has resulted in an OOC grudge simply because the other player couldn’t toe the line between IC and OOC.
As much as I love casual roleplay, conflict is a natural part of storytelling. If you can’t stomach conflict without it bleeding OOC? Don’t cause any.
The RP was fun at the start.
It was great throughout, and the only proper way to roleplay the void elves joining the Alliance.
Change my mind.

This really is a common theme when interacting with someone new. It’s something I consciously avoid doing myself nowadays, because it’s not for me to decide how someone should view others in the game. Additionally, all the negativity and bile really kills the enjoyment of actually playing the game sooner or later - it happened to me.
Roleplayers (usually Warlocks, Demon Hunters, and Void Elves - also Death Knights) who get semi-offended out of character when people hold a reasonable dislike of their characters, usually branding it as “unoriginal”.
Why even bother roleplaying a concept that’s defined by their status as being widely disliked, feared, or even hated, if you don’t actually want people to frown on it?
Sometimes that butching keeps the OOC getting into IC too much. It let’s the soul breathe.
For sure its nice to rant and let out steam, but when X dosen’t get what she demands from Y so X bickers OOC about it, no thanks.
