Yeah, it’s really creepy and weird to realise someone was seeking to use your lovingly crafted character as a mere self-loving aid.
I’ve avoided relationship RP since this happened to me a while back.
They: “Hey. Wanna start relationshipm RP”
Me: “I’m not sure. I don’t really do that.”
They: “C’mon. Battle couple! We can be this badass duo.”
Me: “Okay, that sounds fun.”
one week passes
Them: “Here’s my F-list and art of my female char with a @$&@ bigger than her head! Wanna ERP?”
So obviously you said yes, right?
Oh cogs…
Preposterous. I would never involve myself with any ERP that’s…
straight
It’s seedy and disgusting in real life and needs to be treated the same when it happens in-game.
Trouble is people usually default to what they think is the reasonable position of ‘well if they’re doing it in private…’ which just enables the harrassment by turning a blind eye to it.
Relationship RP is awful, more so if one person starts growing feelings OOC. Normally ends in drama
And awkward when they find out both of them are dudes irl.
Relationship RP is fine in and of itself, it’s not like romance can’t be a part of narrative, but yeah, you risk running into an ERP baiter.
I make sure to shut that down fast the moment I sense ulterior motives. That stuff is definitely not what I want out of WoW.
only do relationship rp with my irl partner - safest way
I prefer to keep OOC and IC relationships separate entirely. It just feels safer that way.
The only relationship RP I actually endorse is that of long-time colleagues/companions or mentors/students (platonic, nothing dubious). Never been interested in romantic RP in any form. It’s very unusual I play a character whom would “draw people I” in such a manner–there’s usually something about them that doesn’t gel well with most people’s basic approaches to romantic RP. Ie being reaaaaally old. I know old folks still experience romance. What I mean is most people who look for relationship RP are looking for idealised relationships and old folks aren’t on that list.
I’ve managed to avoid the Relationship RP problem by:
-Making Nar’zagh a Widow.
-Making sure Nar’zagh looks as off putting as possible
-Making sure Nar’zagh lives up to his title of “Great Irritator” by being a terrible Human (Or I should say Troll) being.
-Making sure that if anyone tries, they have the weirdest time of their life. My favourite incident of this is when someone tried to approach me for that type of stuff and I replied “Do you mind? I’m trying to speak to the Dirt.” Then spent about a Half hour aggressively talking about a crazed theory that the dirt is sentient and watches Azeroth, waiting to become the apex predator.
God, I love this Character.
So dreamy.
So confident.
So hot right now
Dafunk, y’all into some weird up in here, I’m out of this Shizzle.
I’d love you to share that theory with me one day.
That’s beautiful.
Where does dud reside? I need to come up with a good reason for my elderly priest to stumble across him.
Well, to put it as short as possible. there is more dirt than there is people on Azeroth right? So Dirt out numbers us. And we know Dirt can become sentient because earth elementals and sand elementals right. So therefore, if dirt became sentient and got tired of us stepping on it all the time, it could easily out number us and defeat us because there are more dirt than people. And where do Humans come from? That’s right, Dirt. and Humans kill trolls, so that must mean sentient Dirt would want to kill Trolls.
Well, that’s the just of the theory, I hope Dalaran gives Nar a medal for his “Scientific findings”.
Since I don’t have Time to RP constantly I just Kind of pop up at places in Kalimdor, and rarely the EK, When I have time, all though my Home is in a hole outside Razorhill.
- Invincible troublemakers.
- People who bring OOC drama IC or the other way around.
- Metagamers
- ERPers. They are a ticking time bomb and they will blow up and cause a lot of damage in your guild/community if the officers are not willing to take action.
I listed these things in no particular order. 1-3 often go hand in hand.
Doesn’t Nar’zagh live in a hole in the same dirt?
