Top 5 Worst Types of People to RP with?

His logic is that he has tamed the dirt there by eating it proving he is the Apex.

In reality it is just dirt and he is an Old man who left his brain cells in the bush he was found in.

I now worry for My Sweet boy’s future. if this is how they react over a Homeless, deluded Grandpa, how will they react over Wannabe prelate Vulpera Hero.

Grim future ahead, indeed.

It reminds me that time where a friend asked “I don’t know why my old PTSD elf with long creepy hands got so much interest from female characters!”
And we had to explain to him that kind (with some select people) emotionally vulnerable (so less of a prick) man with pianist hand is kind of an ideal. Fun time.
(He will recognize himself if he pass here)

Sorry Argent Dawn, I can’t give credit. Come back when you’re all a bit more mmmmmm richer.

If only he could afford such good armour, or a proper weapon.

MFW you’re a poor desert dweller so you’re stuck with blue shorts and Leather leg plates and your polearm is just some sticks.

In my experience, it’s never been awful but it can be really awkward at times. For example, one person quits the game while the relationship is still on-going. What does the other person have to say if asked about their IC significant other? What if there’s a purely OOC argument that sours relations between both players but the relationship is still on-going? What if some IC drama drives the two apart… but they’re in the same guild?

I’ve seen it done perfectly well, but in my experience I’ve had to limit myself on the matter more and more just to avoid an awkward scenario. Typically I’ll refuse to get married or have kids IC, because that makes things much harder to explain away or break off if things don’t work out IC or OOC.

But of late I’ve been pondering if I should just ship my own characters together, not even with characters I actively RP, saves me any hassle of worrying about another player and in cases where the two characters would be a good match anyway, it would give them a meaningful connection. Of course I wouldn’t just emote with myself about the characters getting cuddly because that would be f-ing weird, it’d just be a background fact that the two characters are close, referenced only on occasion or something that comes up in my short stories. Nothing more, but it doesn’t have to be.

In my experience this would seriously happen. Main reason being: Most male characters suck. I asked a friend why basically every human couple is F/F, and while, yeah, a factor is probably because they’re both dudes and one guy RPing being in a relationship with another guy would be hella gay, I’m told with confidence that most male characters are just terrible with women and come off as unappealing or creepy.

I didn’t understand it until I made a female character who was, to be blunt, stereo-typically attractive. It was supposed to just be a nod to characters like Bayonetta but sweet Jesus I could not RP in a major hub for more than half an hour without some guy swaggering up to me asking my character on a date. Or worse. Having literally just met. Or showing interest in me then quickly losing it when it’s obvious I’m not about to suck him off behind the cathedral.

Meanwhile a lot of my male characters have ended up with multiple partners over the years, despite none of them really actively searching for it or showing interest in a woman. Same friend explained that my character, by simply treating female characters as friends and people, immediately became more appealing than Prince Charming that hits on fifty women a day and treats them more as props or background characters than equals. Similarly that’s how a number of the F/F relationships form, making friends first and treating each other as people and when your alternatives are limited… eh.

In summary, This^.

Just RPing a decent man with decent values almost automatically puts you up as prime dating material. It’s kind of sad really.

But Nar’zagh isn’t Decent in any way at all.

He is literally Florida man.

Darkspear Man Takes Woman out on date, Bites her toes off and claims he is God while fighting Grunts with old fish.

But Florida man treats women like they do anyone else.

Maybe not… well, but still as an equal. That’s good enough for some who’ve put up with Lord Dave McPaladin throwing gifts at them until they get a concussion for years on end.

It’s a shame though, relationship RP can be fun. No not like that you perverts. I mean in that it can be very endearing, especially for characters you might not have expected to get into a relationship, and how they awkwardly fumble through it. It can be a source of amusement without necessarily doing anything more than just holding hands. But, yeah, it has some fairly significant issues the more you bind the characters together.

Honestly some of my favourite RP over the years has been awkward or funny ‘dates’ my characters have been on. One of which started as a stroll through the Barrens under the night sky but quickly turned into a fight for survival, who knew you could bond over the corpses of centaur? Or Darianuth here being taught how to play the games at the Darkmoon Faire, he still doesn’t quite understand it, but he got a free stuffed animal out of the deal.
