Torghast L8 Upper Reaches - Without Anima Powers

Well then I’m waiting  no kappa, would love to see some other class do it.

Stuck on layer 7 myself :sob:

I don’t think anyone outside of hunter/druid/rogue can do the skips. Maybe with invisibility potions, but those have like 5 minute cd.

Skips are not important here. You can just kill mobs. Problem is killing last boss without anima powers.

I could try it on elemental(resto wouldn’t have enough dps), but without the skips it would be really boring.

“If layer one was like a normal dungeon, and layer two was like a heroic dungeon, but the time you’re getting up to layer six, that’s like… a Mythic +7. And layer eight is more like a Mythic +13 or +14.

When considering anything solo, class/spec always matters most. We’ve seen it in duels, in Proving Grounds, in Mage Tower. There is no way to balance specs against each other solo. Blizzard might have tried to do that with Anima powers, but they didn’t.

This seems interesting, but I don’t think they were able to achieve it. At least for some specs it’s really easy(and for other really hard, but I haven’t tried it on a melee or petless dps yet, so have no idea about it)

I’ve only been in on a Frost Mage and a Ret and a Prot spec of Paladin. There is a VAST difference. The Prot can snooze through, but even the Ret finds it so much easier than my mage it’s obscene.

Yes, imo it seems they couldn’t balance the self-healing classes at all.

Just going by the rough approximation from Wowprogress (I accept the stats are always going to be a bit behind as they’re not always properly updated daily) at the moment on my server:

187 puts me at #175 for Paladin
There are 14 Paladins with ilvl above 205
There are 509 Paladins active in SL

Yes, some of those will be alts. Some will be players who have decided to switch away from their pallys. Some may have quit the game.

But even if we discount the bottom 1/3 of Paladins, 187 ilvl is about average and 205 ilvl is the top 5%.

The general playerbase may be indeed, though up until the nerfs started happening Blizzard’s initial idea was for layer 7 and 8 to be the “high end” of Thorgast. It is why they shifted the bulk of soul ash to be obtainable from the first few layers.

I do not think that we were meant to solo/group Thorgast layer 7 and 8 on the very first week heroic raids opened. It felt to be balanced around normal ilvl (layer 7) and heroic ilvl (layer 8) values.

Regardless, in the end they backtracked on that, which does not bode well for those who are looking forward to the Twisting Corridors.

The fact they needed to nerf it just shows how badly designed anima powers are.

I am not sure where they went wrong with it. Mage ones have variety, and plenty of them are genuinely interesting (I just realised a few days ago that intelligent mirror images on fire spec use Greater Pyroblast for example.) While warlock ones felt like they were designed primarily for demonology, and the powers felt just…weaker in general.

So there are only 509 paladins? wow.

511 to be exact. He was obviously talking about his realm.

“Obviously”. When he mentions 509 paladins active in SL, that sounds like… well, 509 paladins active in SL.

I switched over from my Arcane Mage to playing Discipline Priest. Torghast has gone from hand-wringing to “I can’t wait to push higher” because it’s so much fun.

Now, now, don’t get carried away, there! :stuck_out_tongue:

I find no fun in it. I don’t complain about it specifically; it’s obviously content not designed for my taste, and to me it’s as boring as standing in a bus stop on a showery day, at least till you get to the boss.

People complain about difficulty, and I get that the difficulty varies HUGELY by class/spec, but everybody can choose their own difficulty, so my attitude on that is: pick yer poisin, or group up.

So I’m fine with whatever difficulty, as well. I just cannot for the life of me see what’s fun about going into an instance with terrible aesthetics and a disgraceful half-attempt at music as background, to wade through floors of nothing mobs that drop nothing, with no story, no connection to the boss, for no apparent reason - for half an hour to an hour.

I’ve left Torghast several times, usually around floor 4, not because of any difficulty or annoyance, but just because I feel I have better things to do with my time, and I really don’t care that much about the Soul Ash.

Well easy and quick fix is to add a thousand of boss abilities. WoW has like crapton of cool abilities that bosses cast. Just add it to the general pool and BAM! Each run can be entirely different when once you get jaina glacial ray, the other run you get garrosh desecrate. Now add 1000 similar abilities and each subsequent run is different.
