Most successful WoW streamers were top tier players prior to becoming streamers.
Towellie used to be in a solid progression guild called Death Jesters and Preach carries his own weight, he is a good player.
Back on topic.
I have no idea if he paid or what, but if he did then it proves that buying PVP boosts is the cheapest, fastest and easiest way to gear up for PVE, as PVE tanking is Towellie’s goal.
Let’s not pretend like gearing up is currently a fun process, alts are unplayable until at least 210.
Sure, but when he gets to the high rating brackets, he should be around 2.1k, which does offer a full set of 226 (or at the very least, 220 if we’re considering 1.8k as high as it is the 90th percentile (according to Luduslabs.org) which isn’t too bad.
People are usually quick on jumping on gear being their issue, and while the differences can be big (and I’ve been advocating for smaller ilvl gaps for years now), it has been proven that if you play well enough, you can get your gear.
Not being able to SWD a Repentance is not a gear issue.
Not being able to pop a proper defensive is not a gear issue.
Not being able to coordinate with your teammate is not a gear issue.
Not being able to do a proper setup because you rushed it is not a gear issue.
Of course, all your gameplay is naturally impacted by gear, but bad plays are bad plays and have nothing to do with gear.
In a little side experiment of mine a few weeks before 9.0.5’s release, I played BM Protpally with a friend of mine. He was 170ilvl, I was 210 at the time as I didn’t have a weapon or a shield for Prot. We got to 2k without any hiccups despite having faced high geared people, and even comps that should delete anyone with a low ilvl (such as Rogue Mage or DH comps).
Well, boosters usually intentionally downrank so their MMR tanks a lot as well. The rule of thumb is checking what titles they had this season - f.e. if they hit duelist, you can expect a full set of 226.
Imho they should just close the ilvl gap that the actual gear has. So instead of having a 29+7ilvl gap between maxed Honor and Conquest gear, it should be 13 like the good ol’ days (then again you have to remember, old PvP gear also had set bonuses, sockets and gloves had a special effect for each spec).
The number of pvp players is probably less than 1% of playerbase so it’s not hard, it’s just not worth it. Heck, ppl sleeping streams have more viewers than all WoW activities combined kekw. 1 dota streamer has more viewers and offline views than any AWC ever had =)
You can check everything via check pvp or some pve alternative
I dont have my main(mw monk 190ilvl i didnt touch for 2 months) hidden so np to find something to bash me dude…
Im not even surprised constructive discussion is not something hsppening here often rating/rio bashing people is obviously more fun. Like for what you even need this? I asnwer you because you want to bash my ilvl, rio score or rating…sadge
If this would be officialy reported, I would get the hell out of this game and it will actually nerver return, since PvP is the only part I can or WANT to enjoy but can’t.
I always imagine people paying for boost also need their mommy to make them their lunchy boxy. It’s embarrassing and this is coming from a guy who plays Vulpera.
I know thats even more disgusting when pro pve tank with tons of supporters and guild use this… like he is tank he is good and he is famous and still he chosen pvp boost instead pve gearing for raids etc…now he has nothin to do and quit
The amount of boosts being sold really highlighted the lack of gear PvE players were getting from completing the content that it drove many to do PvP either themselves or via boosts.
I have hit times like that. My longest unsub was most of Cataclysm, I’ve taken other breaks from time to time over the years but nothing compares to that one.
Gaming is a hobby to me and it should be fun. That’s not to say I like every aspect of the game or that there aren’t things that can be improved.
He hasn’t quit. He’s 10/10 mythic content all cleared but he still raids every week on multiple tanks and runs boosts for gold, you really have no idea what your talking about, he is however streaming other games alot too…But thats his job, he’s a content creator, most of the other games he streams he is paid to play them by the publsher’s.
I think this is a problem that encompasses more than just WoW to be fair. All cosmetic microtransactions for example, in all games, kinda feed into this phenomenon.
