Damn … RP rules not being enforced kills an RP server? @Zaphius bro you must hurry and debunk this asap. Big if true
Correction, the stance several GMs took was that if players have the tools provided by the game to handle harassment and griefing (such as enabling PvP and engaging the other faction in a PvP encounter) then game masters shouldn’t intervene.
This mantra didn’t always stick though as when players from the same faction filed the reports (and got past the beep boop bot GMs who said we should all coordinate to countergank the griefers???) there were results, such as Shadow of Nine and ABOG members enjoying a week long hiatus after their escapades in the name of resurrecting World PvP by ganking dwarf RPers on the borders Loch Modan
Evidently it wasn’t nearly enough as we can see from the current state of DFB. However, I will never forget the quality of RP on the server when I actively played on it. Despite all the dumb drama surrounding the Stormwind Council, Geldar being a poo poo head, Krogon being an even bigger poo poo head, or Ephitos riling up the masses on the unofficial forums, I do sincerely miss the times of the Forlorn Cartel, the Dwarven Rifle Squad/TTH when it was led by Gilroy, The Cult of Shadow, SGE and many others who made Ironforge, Stormwind and RP-PvP lively.
Those were the words most used Post-Cataclysm, only once or twice did we get told something more akin to what I said, but it’s basically the same effect at the end of the day.
Before then, the communication would usually go “Well, can you prove their intent is to grief and it isn’t just naturally occurring PvP?” We’d provide the screenshots of the conversations leading up to the attack, then they would act. Cataclysm onwards, no interest at all in any evidence we had.
But yeah, it’s a shame Defias went the way it did, the RP community really got on, drama on Alliance side is news to me, as I never played Alliance side and on Horde side, I don’t really recall much in terms of drama between RPers. That may just be due to how much SGE stuck to itself in Stranglethorn, mind. In the years since, I have learned there was a lot of misinformation about how SGE dealt with things, but at the time, not so much.
What is greater… Alliance or Horde? Asking for a friend.
In terms of what specifically
Everything… RP, of course.
Horde, we are the goblin squad.
But… How will I RP Colonel Oxygone… As a Goblin…
Goblins are better than gnomes.
Truer words have never been spoken.

Vulpera are better than goblins.
To be fair, RP-PvP realms were doomed to fail from the start. If the RP rules aren’t very strictly enforced on such realms, they basically just become PvP realms, handing griefers an additional trolling tool next to toys and mammoths.
I never rolled on a RP-PvP realm, despite liking PvP, because I knew it’d be pointless to invest in such a realm.
First of all, no. Just because we don’t have the old RP server rules where you have to be IC a lot more and including in Trade chat, and somewhat for zone general chats as they had to relate more to the game and if there was ongoing RP you were not supposed to disturb it.
Just because RP server rules(lets be honest, most game rules) are not really enforced outside of automated squelches 95% of the time doesn’t mean this server is for ‘everyone’. It’s specifically marked RP, and it does have more rules to it than other servers both set by Blizzard and by the community.
It would still be a good server if non-rpers left, and it would still be a lively server if non-rpers left. What would it be without RPers? Just another PvE server. It wouldn’t BE an RP server anymore.
You already said RP wasn’t for you and that’s fine, but for real you keep saying ‘it’s a place for non-rpers too’ and ‘non-rpers are not that bad’ while you defend bad viewpoints and apply labels to RPers as being ‘weird’ among other things. Clearly you’re seeing many RPers in a negative light and you seem to think that you’re in the majority for that viewpoint for this server. Nah, that’d be plenty of players on you know - PvE servers…
If this server, and others were not SPECIFICALLY made for Roleplayers and MARKED as Roleplay servers you might have a point but you don’t. These servers are for Roleplay, and it’d be a LOT more enjoyable to Roleplay on without non-rpers running about in most areas completely OOC and often being minorly annoying dawdling about and ‘spectating’ to outright griefing.
Are non-rpers to blame for everything bad on this server? No. No one is saying they are, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they are a large and growing problem because non-rp streamers keep pushing people to play on ‘cozy rp servers’ because the community is better than regular servers.
I completely understand you don’t have money to transfer, and all I can say to that is try not to be abusive to other players in your community and not to disrupt RP. Don’t post about how terrible the server is when you’re not even its intended demographic, and how ‘weird’ the people are for using the server for it’s intended purpose.
The nelf poster has said a lot of things, including:
- Gay people are the same as coca cola ads
- Posting in the AD forums that it’s a waste of time
- Posting in the AD forums makes him dumber
- More OOCers should come to AD to build a “WPvP community”
- Took 7 characters to realise roleplay isn’t for him
Here’s how each ended:
-
The first post was done in the general forums, shot down by every single person there + the post was removed.
-
Continues to post anyways.
-
Continues to post anyways, but that it makes him dumber might be true.
-
Was told by offrealmers that he’s a dumbo for thinking a 70/30 from Alliance to Horde ratio would have a point + they know it’s not a good idea to go to a roleplay realm
-
Taking 7 characters to notice that is sort of already a “fried brain”-moment
Over all? The nelf poster is a sad clown and got shutdown by the RP community, the PvP community as well as the PvE community. Not sure if his goal is to make enemies, but if it is then he’s doing a very good job.
Just ignore him, waste of time to interact with that person.
Just to add:
It has never been easier to level up on a character. All gold can be put onto 1 character and then transfered onto another character to have that character then moved. If you can’t get up 25 Euro (That’s like… 2 hours of work where I live and most EU countries) but can get up all the time to make lenghty posts in the forums plus afford a sub, then I wonder if it isn’t just an excuse.
Which brings me to:
What is the point?
I never understood. People that come to roleplay servers to never interact with anyone. Hover over SW or go to the newest zones and that’s it. They never even get to experience that whole thing of “an alive world”. Roleplaying outside of SW on Alliance and roleplaying outside of Org on Horde, you know how often non-rpers come there? That’s right, literally never. Except maybe the odd guy leveling through but that’s it. I just don’t get it man.
I have 2 days ago met someone who roleplayed without a TRP profile. I asked him if he needs help, if he is new to roleplay and all. Turns out the guy plays on another (PvE) realm actively and just logs onto that character to have some casual roleplay here and there. I recommended to install TRP and he said he will install it and thanked me.
How is this not the norm? What do non-rpers gain by hovering in SW afk in the trade district? And I have to ask: how often does it actually occur that someone without a trp profile actively watches people? I am every night in SW and I have super rarely seen that happen. Not even on mounts. I really don’t understand. Most just hover in SW / current content zones and that’s it. “I really like how the world is populated!” - Ok, but… you don’t get to experience that, ever.
Roleplaying actively in Redridge, Duskwood and Booty Bay since Legion, how often did I come across “people just watching roleplay”?
I think once, where a person (with a trp) whispered me if it’s ok if she watched, 2 years ago
I dislike so much that Blizzard has zero RP enforcement. Join any second life group and it will have better rp enforcement than WoW. Such a shame.
He also keeps denying that he said and did these things.
It’d be nice if weirdo elf and Zaphius don’t return here. Getting sick and tired of having to debate the same stupid points with these two bags of hot air.
Is why I am saying it isn’t worth interacting with either of them. Same for Featherwind. Same for anyone with the GS lux tag. At this point most should know that nothing good can ever come out of it.
If these forums were not made by some giant corp that doesn’t care, all of them would have been thrown out at this point. GS lux would have been deleted in game as well.
Like a champ.
And Gnomes are better than Vulpera.
