I do see your point! And my intention wasn’t really to say, they HAD to change it, it was more so to discuss the matter with people as I personally think its a flawed game design that has more negatives than positives. But you can get perspectives that you didnt have if people are willing to initiate in a discussion like you did
Of course we will never find a spot where everyone is pleased, but sometimes we can be too stuck in our own “Why is the game like this?!” That we don’t see what others do.
And thats really what I wanted with this thread, to just put out my perspective and discuss the matter. Not call for Blizzards head demanding a change

That is all fair and everything. And I spoke my counter view and points in return. But be careful what you cook though…
You might just have too serve it too everyone. I should know<.<
I used to be a heavy anti shadowlands and grind poster… Now we’ve got everbloom and seeds… Yaay
This would also be a nice option. Highest transmog roller gets the transmog. Highest need roller gets the item. Now the option to roll transmog (in pug environment/lfr) just seems useless since most likely someone will need and win over transmog roll anyways. Would still have to win a roll but at least u’d have a chance.

But yeah, I think it’s quite considerate of you in a way, you don’t particularly enjoy taking items away from people who could use them. I don’t think it should be as easy as just doing a fight and automatically gaining appearances that drop and that you can use, I get the pushback there. With the direction of cosmetics I think they could perhaps do more with appearances tho. That could be pretty cool.
I do feel a little responsible yes… I didn’t think when we asked for more alt friendliness and less soul sucking stuff to level our alts. Blizzard would take it this far in the evergreen direction.
Evergreen stuff can be fun though. Like the open world events and bosses in guildwars 2.
I do like the Superbloom and seed stuff even too actually. Its just thats the only thing to do…
That would also be super cool! And then I would see more sense to it.
At the moment if you dont have alts, but have a High geared main its just a no chance to get it…
And exactly that, it sucks being that dude that actually needs the gear and someone yoinks it because of tmog… And Yeh Yeh life isn’t fair, all that… But wow is not life… Thats the point… We try to play a game to have fun and enjoy. At least your suggestion would add a compromise both ways I feel

Yep. Today I realised with all the festivities that I had forgotten to do the Emerald Dream weeklies on several alts and figured I’d do at least one. Was done in 25 minutes. Efficient but yeah
I run content to collect mogs. If I instantly got eveything, the content would not have much replayability.
It’s also why I am very sceptical to the upcoming change to how you learn mogs for your alts through your main.
I don’t really rely on the LFR to get mogs, easier to just do the 3 weekly quests and you can just convert that gear at the catalyst. Yeah it takes longer but it’s still guaranteed. Especially since when next patch rolls over the catalyst charge will be every week.
Personally I think they should make it so if you loot an item on a higher difficulty you get all the colour variations from lower difficulties unlocked as well.

Doesn’t work for weapons or off class items such as the larodar cloth helm (Which resembles mage tier but is usable by all) though.
Which, as I said, is bad design. It is just getting transmogs with extra steps.
Playing the raid is still more reliable in that case than getting the items from outdated world content. For HC and Mythic you even have to play the raid exclusively.
I think if you are looking for the game to be found in some “ideal” permanent state, then there is always Classic, tbh. No disrespect… But WoW Retail is subject to change and modernizing (what you’re calling as “triviliazing”) of aspects in the modern era of WoW is no foreign concept.
Ideal permanent state… I don’t know about that. I am not into classic.
WoW is subject to modernizing yes
Like cooler transmog and update models and customizations for our characters. That sorta thing.
But literally intentionally picking the game down to make the game less game too play and rewarding… And call it Modernizing it later? Nha… Sorry I cant follow that.
Welp, that’s your opinion. You asked where does it end and I gave you a pretty succicnt response as to why that question (“when/where does it end”) is quite futile in the context of current (retail) WoW.
Cheers!
Yeah and it’s an horrible ending… I just don’t want that one is all.
SL isn’t legacy yet so I do appreciate the catalyst. I hate ZM mount system with a passion. Still farming the special drops to be able to craft the last few mounts and the last recipe comes from the ZM Paragon. I despise the paragon system. Im so glad they stopped putting mounts and collectibles in them in DF.
I mean the catalyst is a great mechanic to also get the raid appearances and it’s great they you unlock the appearance if you upgrade to the higher bracket.
They maybe should allow off pieces not to use a charge.
That would make it way more comfortable to collect it.
