Been long enough now. People know if they like world pvp. More than a few times today I’ve been next to 5 allys and they don’t bother attacking me… it’s not warmode, it’s bonus mode. (Not talking about factions, sure it happens the other way too.)
I do agree, while I was defending faction balance months ago, I now do agree. It’s been way too much time now, we can consider it even and move on.
Yeah but blizzard is stuck on this delusional idea of a 50/50 warmode at any price.
I’m talking xp, ap and gold bonuses. Keep conquest stuff.
Yup. People used to roll in PvP servers if they liked PvP, and PvE servers if they didn’t. Trying to tempt PvE players away from their choice doesn’t make them happier, and it doesn’t make them want to engage in PvP - it just makes them annoyed about feeling they have to, and they will find every possible way to get the bonus without actually doing the thing they don’t want to do.
Also, let’s flip the bonus statement: Turning WM off reduces your rep and gold rewards by 10%.
Suddenly it’s obvious why this system is awful.
I’m sure this makes a lot of sense in your head but im gonna need a walkthrough
If you don’t play warmode your losing out on bonus by 10%
Don’t know about other people but i have always warmode on not for the bonus crap but because i happen to like random pvp in the world.
But there are times that i just don’t want to pvp and i will not attack every horde player on sight it could be that you have encountered bonus crap leechers or you also might have encountered people like my self who like pvp but are not always 100% on the mood for it.
Imagine when warmode was introduced it was on by default. You can turn it off, but you’ll suffer a penalty to quest rewards.
This is semantically the same as “Turning WM on increases quest rewards by 10%”, but it’s a whole lot less appealing.
TBF, Blizz played it well to launch it without massive outcry about the penalty for preferring PvE servers.
I personally would not give a fudge if bonus stuff would be removed in this instant as i when it was added i did not even know about it for a long time. I also missed the “free” gear before it was nerfed for that same reason.
Ye, there are times it doesn’t make sense or you can’t be bothered but it happens all the time, it’s weird.
@Minnji @Alewín
So turn it on and come win your bonus…
I do. We’re saying players feel like they have to have it on or they are missing out on the extra xp and stuff even if they have no interest pvp
But I’m a PvE player. I rolled on a PvE server, with no expectation that there would ever be anything I was missing out on except WPvP, which I don’t enjoy.
Along came WM, and now I’m punished for a choice I made years ago.
The real punishment would be trying to do quests that give high end stuff while on warmode and the whole area would be filled with opposite faction players ganking you endlessly.
But in that scenario the quest would have to be an escort quest with annoyingly slow npc or something you have to collect with beyond crap rng drop chance.
That would give incentive to do pvp and not be considered as “free” gear
To me its weird that PvE players moan about pvp quests giving “good” gear while raids have for years now given far better stuff.
Also life is not always fair.
You aint being punished for no choice, theres no pve/pvp servers anymore, its just servers now.
And if you no fancy pvping you aint missing anything, the time spent on every engagement even if you’d win them all, isnt even closely compensated by this peanut bonus.
I quite agree, and I have never turned WM on. I probably don’t have the achievement you get for turning it on. It would probably take more than 10% longer to do everything.
But popular opinion is that you are punished for turning it off, and that is the face-value of the feature.
I wouldn’t mind tbh, i use WM to PvP not get this sweet little 10% more azerite from WQ i don’t even grind in the first place.
Xp boost is another story though, it may be worth keeping.
Don’t mind the xp to be fair
Well I’d like to say that I wouldnt mind the bonuses gone but its quite a conundrum for me.
I realize this peanut bonuses attract a lot of players who will actively do anything to get away from pvp including running-by a fellow faction member being ganked wich is disgusting, or even worse, running from a fight after someone jumped in to aid em, truly repulsing.
Getting rid of these no-spine players in warmode would be great I agree.
OTOH, less targets
