Doesn’t matter - even if it’s “only” 200k players, that’s 200k different opinions about what’s offensive. The whole idea is ridiculous to begin with.

This community has scolded me for using less than mild language. It is filled with incredible fragile people. To pretend we’re adults here is a lie. Many may be adults legally, but that’s a technicality.
I’ve never seen someone complain about the big love rocket or anything else Blizz has changed, which leads me to believe the push for these changes is internal, maybe Blizz making the game more close to what the current team wants it to be.

Did they? I mean my tone is one of the rudest and arrogant one on this forum and the amount of people losing their poop about that is incredibly slim. And the ones that did got another rude/arrogant response.

I agree it’s getting stupid and out of control it’s not go anything to do with the serious issues that they are now having to deal with legally. A lot of people with sense can see these things as what they are and that they bear no relation to the current ongoing legal issues that Blizzard is facing.
By all means yes remove the references to the key offenders and anything associated with them if they have been terminated from the company but leave some of the other stuff alone because there is no link that can be seen as to why it needs to be censored or redone. This is effectively political correctness gone mad in a company and yes I know the company is hurting internally but someone needs to take a step back and be rational over it all. Well said Puny.

Not necessarily, for a start ‘twins’ can just mean two things that are similar, or the same, so like for example on a Submarine a sub with two sets of propellers is referred to as a ‘twin screw’ (Which admittedly sounds like the original meaning you mention!) or the F-14 ‘Tomcat’ made famous by ‘Top Gun’ is referred to as a ‘twin engine’ aircraft. Secondly ‘Spouse’ is only one of the meanings of the word ‘Consort’ it can also mean ‘Friend’, ‘Advisor’ or ‘associate’, one can Consort with someone/a group, and it not to have any sexual undertones at all.
Yes it would, and is a further indicator that they don’t know what the word means, Korialstrasz could indeed just be Alexstraza’s trusted advisor, aide or whatever, it does not necessarily have a sexual context, in fact usually doesn’t.
Agreed. Given that Alexstrasza is a sentient and sapient being and it was against her will, that has a far, far worse connotation than being a consort, which is a willing choice. Similarly to Aedelas Blackmoore and Taretha Foxton, it is a reference to carnal acts against one’s will. I mean that was even directly referenced in ‘War Crimes’ when one of the charges against Garrosh was ‘forced pregnancy’ when referring to Alexstrasza. We all know what it means. People with a bit more smarts than Christie Golden would also know that you cannot charge someone with a crime that a) They did not commit, b) Were a child unaware of such events at the time, and c) Were on an entirely different planet at the time, which is a pretty good alibi, you have to admit.
And to think that Golden had the nerve to say she had studied what constituted a War Crime before writing that book. She clearly didn’t.

I know but then you also need to as they must at some point stop and realize it’s going too far in one direction and the wrong one at that and make a mark in the sand saying that nothing is changed beyond that point. Between a rock and hard place comes to mind.

To be fair, it’s probably not incest because the mogu are not natural. But “consort” implies they’re both Lei Shen’s wives, and there may be an upcoming retcon to that lore. I don’t think they’d change “consort” - the word doesn’t have a negative, anti-progressive meaning. It just means a spouse. They’re probably changing it because the twin consorts probably aren’t Lei Shen’s wives.

There is no compromise. The whole idea of “offensive” or “hate” speech is broken by definition. It leads either to censorship of every controversial opinion, or to tyranny, where some ideas are considered better than others just because of political reasons.
Isn’t the lore surrounding them though that Lei Shen literally had them created to serve as his companions? I’m a bit rusty on Mogu Lore but the general implication there was it was a sign of his arrogance because (at that point) female Mogu were not a thing, so this a statement about Lei Shen ascending to the power “of his makers” and for the mere purposes of his satisfaction. It’s a powerful implication and suits his lore.
Just having them as female generals “just because” I mean there’s nothing wrong with it at all, but I think at the same time it kinda takes away all those nice subtle brushstrokes regarding Lei Shens characterisation. He’s clearly not pictured as a “good guy” so the idea he keeps multiple spouses / concubines / whatever isn’t being shown to be some ideal. It was another part of what made him an arrogant piece of crap you wanted to loot.
Also Lei Shen (and the Mogu) are clearly HEAVILY based upon imperial Chinese history and so it was kinda a reference to that sort of thing as well.

I can understand (even if I care neither way) removing the pictures which are just titillation.
But changing the name of these? I don’t get it. Consort doesn’t imply necessarily sexual stuff, it usually implies companionship (and we infer the rest) and I think it’s a bit much to see a term being used to denote that as being “problematic” honestly.
They are LOOKING FOR things to change, not responding to any criticism. This is why it’s so slow. Some pink-haired prick probably reads through all the text in order to justify their existence and want to leave their mark on the game. But since they are malicious, talentless hacks, this is their idea of leaving their mark.
You know, I am usually against piling on employees, even when the end result is bad. You never know the conditions, constraints, and they probably didn’t set out to do something bad. THIS is the opposite. Whoever requested this change internally DID set out to do something to piss people off.

It really comes down to whether they want a sexual implication between Lei Shen and the Twin Consort. I’m fine either way. My MoP lore is very weak, I haven’t played this expansion ever, just listened to lore and story explanations for it.
However, if the lore is that Lei Shen basically created himself a bunch of sex dolls and we fight them, I can completely understand them changing it. Not because it’s “problematic”. It’s not. It’s just kinda cringe.
