I have TWW on my account WoW1 but it presently does not have active game-time. After the update, it was turned into “free trial” and I cannot talk with my guildmates. I can attach screenshots of my level 80s just sitting there on character select screen but it says it is a free trial account. I do not know if it will even let me use my Tokens as the option to use a Token for 30-day game-time has gone away.
I will add this as well, I love WoW and have been playing the game for 9+ years (mostly without a subscription). I explore, collect things, do quests, go fishing but the amount of restrictions you suddenly impose on those playing without game-time is horrible. At least just mention somewhere that you are making changes for non-sub players. If you are unaware you have a big community of players who play at level 20 without game-time and every time we are left wondering if it is an intended change or not.

Hey Coffeemug,
Accounts on a Veteran status should be able to do the following things:
- Can join guilds their other characters are members of.
- Can whisper guild mates.
- Can use Guild Chat in addition to the Say and Party channels.
If that’s not the case, this would be a bug (we’re currently looking into this).

It perhaps is a bug but the top left of the character-select screen does not say “The War Within” anymore, it says the account is a “free trial”. Is there a way I can attach a screenshot here then you’d understand.
And my level 20 is in my level 80 main character’s guild but after the update it cannot access the guild chat. It says “starter accounts do not have access to this feature”. Now this is an account with TWW license and several level 80s. Also, while I could not access my guild bank, I could see what was in there but now it just shows a black box. All addons are disabled so this is not from addons. Also as I mentioned, the option to use WoW Token from the character select screen for game-time has just disappeared.
Could you check that you are playing on the correct account please? If so, have you reactivated your account with game time? Also make sure that your [communication preferences] are updates in your account settings, and that you don’t have a parental-controls on your account, for the chat issue.
- there are 8 license on this account 4 of them paid before. This character i made my question on in previous thread meets the criteria of veteran status that was a thing prior 11.2
- I did not activate gametime on my account recently. I lost option to do that after 11.2 patch. Reactivation pop up window on character selection screen is not there anymore.
- Communication settings are enable and i don’t see any difference in setting vs what was there before.
- I am in full control of my accounts and never had parental control over my battle net accounts.
Question stands: Has there been change to policy of Veteran accounts?
i wish to know that to adjust accordingly. I don’t see me playing accounts that bank experience and level me up automatically next time there is free weekend out of no where without any of my saying in it.
Thank you.

I know you had another topic where I’ve provided this answer. Meanwhile, we’ve had other reports (this thread), and I confirmed that we were looking into this issue.
We’ve then moved onto a third topic, as other players probably found the other title more descriptive of their issue.
TLDR: no, this is not intended, and a fix should be deployed soon. Thank you for your patience!
I’ll close this thread here to avoid more confusion and split conversations.
