All I expected was a vanilla experience with a more skilled playerbase. Sadly blizzard also increased the server population limit, which seemed like a small change at first but had a huge impact now that pvp became more populair.
The overpopulation ruined it now. Too many people running in zones the same size as they were back then. So this makes it much harder for people to avoid pvp, or to actually do pvp the way it was back then.
I’ve always played on pvp servers in vanilla and I’m saying it’s extremely different from what it is right now.
The high population makes it easier to find dungeon groups (so awesome for PvE content) but make it much harder to avoid PvP when you’re enjoying the non-PvP aspects of the game.
You do realize that PvP servers aren’t a new invention. They’ve been around for 15 years. I for one expect …well that?
That being said… this won’t last since faction populations aren’t balanced on most servers. Now my server is fairly balanced and I’ve killed more green toads even while leveling than I’ve died to them. But those who play the dominant faction and tell everyone to roll PvE, do you realize that it’s you whos gonna be stuck with PvE on your 99% horde realms if this continues? Do you honestly believe players will stick around for you get ganked over and over 1v10.
As I wrote in another thread, I rolled on a PvP server to experience the PvP I remembered from Vanilla/TBC as well as private servers, mind you I managed rank 14 two times in vanilla as well as a couple of times on private servers. Sure I expected it to be a bit more hectic and more min maxed since I assumed that the population would be larger and game knowledge is higher now, however nothing prepared me for this massive zerg.
Pretty much every graveyard and FP from Redridge and up are camped constantly, so even if you spirit rez you get ganked over and over again. Getting to an instance that’s not in some low populated area require 1-2 hours corpse running. Taking a boat ride results in instant death and plenty of quest NPC’s in quest areas are killed frequently. Sure alliance PvP groups/raids exist and clear the area once in a while, but the faction imbalance means that it’s never enough.
This is not world PvP as it was in vanilla or TBC, this is not world PvP as it was on private servers, this is a mindless zerg. I so wanted those tense world PvP moments I missed from back in vanilla and had on private servers, instead I get ganked as soon as I land at a FP.
Sure there are plenty of PvPers from low pop servers that don’t see this, but on overcrowded realms plenty of people are already starting to logout, since apart from joining a PvP raid there ain’t much more you can actually do anymore. If Blizzard don’t want everyone that don’t want to PvP 100% of the time to stop playing BG’s are the only answer.
Man…you will be the ones crying when the servers will be dead because of the mindless zerg. Since you’re so keen on the new pvp…maybe blizz will turn on friendly fire so you can entartain yourself if you like this since strategies are tooo hard.
Yea well PVP is almost never fair. Now you are getting the extreme of it. I play on a PVE server and even there I managed to remind me of why I will never touch PVP servers again. It was a quiet moment in Hillsbrad and I just wanted to have some nice dueling with the lonely hordies I saw there. Well whoopsiedaisies surprise rogue or two. Who would have known. Skinstrip, with love, Faerie Fire.
BTW we have some pretty nice PVP here in hillsbrad. On a PVE server.
I’ve played this game for 15 years on a PvP server, so I expected the gameplay I’ve had for 15 years. Which is the risk of being attacked in open world enviroment whilst also being able to attack players of the oposing faction. This is an extra element to the gameplay which makes it more exciting. Sure I had moments of corpsecamping, being ganked, escort quests ruined etc. And I DID accepted those feats as inherent discomforts of a PvP enviroment.
To counter this, I waited a few mins with ressing, logged an alt, got some food or drinks or in the worst case, logged out and did something else for the time being. Cause I knew all those things were always TEMPORARY.
Now, we have all those things, GARENTUEED, 24/7 every hour every minute of every waking moment since the honor system went live. But not from 1 or 2 grieving players, no, entire raids at every major quest hub, travel connection or grind spot.
So there’s my reality vs expectation. I think it’s safe to that my expectations based on 15 years of gameplay can be called accurate. So yeah, I was caught off guard with this sh!tfest of a farce which some ppl stubbornly keep calling ‘world PvP’
man, 10 mins in the game with my alt, taking a boat from theramore to wetlands. There is another lvl 30 alliance. We get killed off two times by a rogue with a skull (clearly high level).
At this rate, Blizzard should give you experience on how many times you die either way i can’t imagine how you can level up with stupid people killing you off and your game xp and not even getting honors because we are too low level. (hence, why i said stupid)
Imagine League of Legends that is not free but you actually pay for it monthly and that there are matches where you get a team of 2 people with you and you play against a team of 7 people. And that is happening in every match you log on to, you always play matches 3v7 whatever you do. Wouldnt that be a fu*ked up game to play? And people would be actually paying for it. Crazy. And you cant do anything else because somehow you always end up in that match of 3v7.
When you lose and complain about the fairness of the system the players that are winning 7v3 begin telling you to stop crying, get better or go play other games or quit completely. Because that’s what Classic now on some servers. lol
Even if that would be the case, do you honestly believe that the team that lost the fight wouldn’t invite more people? Or if 3-4 people from the guild wanted to join they would say ‘sorry it’s 10v10, go somewhere els’?
You clearly underestimated the length of Wich players will go to get really good gear. Because that’s what the goal here is, grind as much as possible as fast as possible to buy insane armor. With 40man raiding and only 2-3 items per boss PvP loot Wich you can just buy are really appealing.
But even if we kept inviting more and more players and waited for everyone to arrive in the end there would still be more hordes, and still 3v7. Or 30v70 or 300v700, it doesnt matter, there is still more horde available.
And in reality it is like that. You have a fair fight for 5 minutes tops and then somehow whole raid of Hordes arrive (they were in the zone already) because they heard there is a group of Alliance to farm. And it is getting harder and harder to find Alliance that you can farm. I dont blame them, its the system that is broken. And yes Hordes are always quicker to arrive because there probably is one raid roaming the zone already.
Blizzard can just add more Realms and put in the correct caps. Too bad for them they thought everyone would leave. They were wrong and now they need to man up and get to work so we can have Vanilla.
If that’s the case then it’s more likely that I underestimate the sheer cluelessnes of players. Grinding low lvl players in raids is by far the least effective way to grind honor for gear. And ppl don’t seem to realize what a grindfest the loot from honor actually is. I got a strong feeling that more then half of those grinders will call it a day when the honor is calculated next reset.
i play a 60 horde and i am not enjoying it… alliance is nowhere to find. i hunt all azeroth and i find nothing but HORDE. it’s just disgusting how they get camped bij x100 horde. it’s not fun at all
