In s2 unholy dk was top dmg everywhere and in s3 its on the bottom.
Idk why all voting for s3.
Can someone enlight us about this.
I know unholy assault changed from haste to dmg but 25%mastery from s2 set is no joke.
2-Set -
Bursting and Festering Wound grants your ghoul Vile Infusion, increasing their damage by 25% and Haste by 10% for 5 sec.
4-Set -
Your primary ghoul’s attacks have a 8% chance to increase your damage and Haste by 8% for 8 sec. This chance is increased to 15% during Vile Infusion.
T30 Set (DF Season 2)
2-Set -
Death Coil and Epidemic damage increased by 10%. Casting Death Coil or Epidemic grants a stack of Master of Death, up to 20. Dark Transformation consumes Master of Death and grants 1% Mastery for each stack for 25 sec.
4-Set -
Raise Abomination / Army of the Dead grants 20 stacks of Master of Death. When Death Coil or Epidemic consumes Sudden Doom gain 1 extra stacks of Master of Death and 10% Mastery for 6 sec.
T31 Set (DF Season 3)
2-Set -
Apocalypse summons an additional Magus of the Dead. Your Magus of the Dead Shadow Bolt now fires a volley of Shadow Bolts at up to 4 nearby enemies.
4-Set -
Each Rune you spend increases the duration of your active Magi by 0.5 sec and your Magi will now also cast Amplify Damage, increasing the damage you deal by 5% for 10 sec.
DK was good in season 2 but not because of the tier set. 2p was okay but 4p was pretty bad.
We’ve already got plenty of secondary stats as is, there’s no need for more. The raw damage amp from current tier bonus is just better.
None of this, however, dictates the class tuning in a singificant enough way to place you on the top or bottom of the pack. Nerfs to PI and unholy DK kit itself affected out throughput more than the change in tier set bonus.
Those that vote for season 1 or season 2 are the ones that want unholy dk to be the worst in m+… Please do not vote for any of those sets. S3 is the best when looking at raw dmg output from a tier set. Why we are lower this season than previous ones is not because of the set bonus but nerf to PI and other various reasons, such as other classes toolkits are more buffed etc.
Not cause of tier set,
But between s2 and s3 dk damage profile was a little change to flatten damage profile (less in burst windows more outside.
PI and Augvoker was nerf too.
But for normal player and not parse run with pi and multiple augvoker : UH dk was better to play in S3
S3 set bonus seems more fun gameplay-wise and urges you to plan Runic Power better, where S2 seems to just emphasize Death Coil spam. S1 is just a passive boost to wound spec, could be done better via tuning in my opinion
On a side note, it would be nice if we could have separate bonuses for PvP tied to pvp ilvl for instance. We are the small minority in the game and there is zero chance of us getting a different bonus if we dont like/want the one that raiders/m+ players vote for…
Just a consideration but no doubt will never happen.
Honestly man, I understand the tmog but not the tier set bonus. I went with S3 because I don’t believe they will rebalance the class to perform the way it did in S2. I would prefer the S2 tier set effect, but would need the class to be tuned accordingly. Not sure we will benefit as much from the S2 bonus in the S3 set up, not just because of the UH assault ability but also Gargoyle got a big nerf.
Well for one, balance is not relevant when voting.
Secondly, unholy changed pretty significantly between S2 and S3 so even with the S2 tier set, unholy wouldn’t suddenly be OP again. S2 and S3 actually have very similar DPS gains (S2 being lower than S3 now due to garg/army nerfs).
Finally, S3 tier feels significantly better (can pre-cast army) and is also much better in m+.
