[Update#2] I get destroyed as blood dk in M+

Hello there fellas

So I main a Prot Paladin, And with my pally I feel almost unkillable doing 18+ keys,
but unfortunately Prot is getting holy power in SL, and i found my self not a big fan of that

So switched to my Blood DK to get it ready for SL

ilvl: 456
Stats: 23% Crit / 24% Haste / 53 Mastery / 6 Vers

I know my stats aren’t the best for tanking since i just switched from frost

I was doing 11-14+ keys and my health spikes a lot, i can barely manage to handle a pack without my defenses

now I wonder is it my stats or is it the class ? because i feel naked compared to my Prot Pally

Welcome to blood DK. It’s far squishier then other plate tanks, but has incredible self heals. Your HP yoyos up and down, that’s DK’s thing right now. Just make sure you maintain boneshield. And pool runic for heart strike when you need it. Don’t just spam heartstrike, use it when you actually need the heals.

I main a prot pally and a blood DK. My blood does average 60k+ DPS with td rank 6, and about 50k average self heals. Yeah the HP bounces around a lot, but it’s no issue. On the other hand my pally does 20k less DPS but feels alot sturdier with half the self heals. Both are 475 with max cloak and fully decked.

do you by any chance mean DeathStrike ?, because I see myself can’t hold agro if I dont use HeartStrike in packs with death and decay

One thing i can chime in with is that alot of BDK’s staying power was lost after Legion.

Deathstrikes yeah my bad, always confuse em hah.

Never had a problem keeping aggro in 15+ keys, d and d, and bloodboil are fine for keeping threat at the start of a fight, then start heartstriking works for me.

Generally for a fresh pack marrowend previous pack when it’s nearly dead (so you go in next pack with a good amount of boneshield).

DnD the fresh pack, double blood boil to use both charges for AoE damage, and apply the dot. Then start using heartstrike, with bloodboil used on CD.

When you get the hang of it, rotationally bloods really easy. Maintain boneshield from marrowend. Bloodboil on CD, DnD on CD (or use if you need to kite, depending on affixed). Heartstrike for damage, deathstrike for heals, if you know a big attacks coming pool runic power so you can do 3 heartstrikes in a row for mega self heals.

I think i need to get hang of it with more practice, and get better gear and stats

also i have rank 2 essences, that might be the threat problem, with no corruption in my gear at all

your stats are wrong, go full versa and versa% corruptions
ignore mastery at all cost

Stat are not that important on surviving in low keys, i did a fortified 20 with like less than 10% baseline versa.

While Versa of course is better you are just patching up, gameplay mistakes with overgearing.

Also is better not to use 2 Blood Boil in a row unless you really need that damage/threat because you are basically wasting hemostasis stacks.

It is better to have runic power pooled at all times, and just dump 1 DS if you are going to overcap.

Blood Dk are spiky by nature. You wait the Spike and then you dump runic into Death Strike for going back up.

That is why a lot of inexperienced healers complain about BDKs, they watch their Health bars instead of their Runic Power.

Plus always try to never let Bone Shield fade, and at the start of a key use the dummy toy to go into the first pack with BS up.

It is a gigantic difference.

Ok, a little update after playing Blood for a a while now

I got a little better gear and stats, I’m now 467ilvl, have 22Vers equipped and around 16 haste

Still dont have any corruption, beside one piece rank 1 TD

the problem now still I can’t hold agro if there are DPS with full BIS gear and corruption

specially when Dancing Rune Weapon is on CD, and going to pull big pack, I lose agro if they blow their CDs instantly

I don’t have this problem with my paladin or DH

It’s their fault not yours.
There is nothing you can do, unless you play essence that help snap threat.

They should give you time to position before popping off.

I kinda feel like this agro thing is a bit of an issue for blood compared to other tanks (Not counting Twilight Dev)

like for example in Free Hold dungeon, the first 3 packs pull, am I supposed to cleave here to hold agro, or just do a couple Marrorend for bone shield stacks to survive, meanwhile dps pull agro

I don’t find Blood Boil to be enough for agro generation at all

the opener for big pack would be, Death and Decay > Dancing Rune Weapon > Blood Boil, now you either do Marrorend or Spam heart Strike for Cleave while DnD still up, if I choose to go with Heart Strike to try and keep agro, than ill die because i dont have bone shield stacks, and if I choose to go with Marrorend, than ill be late for cleaving the pack and dps already pulled aggro

I think this became a problem for blood DK because of corruption, other players have a lot more dmg because of it, while for blood, if you dont have Twilight Dev to compensate for that, than that creates the agro problem

like u said this only became a strong issue after “infinite” scale burst from corruptions.

in SL the agro will be “normal”, you wont be able to BB twice and run around like mad, but u wont lose agro as currently

having said that, giving a aggro modifier or increased dmg to BB wouldnt hurt
