Originally I had anticipated a loosening of the faction restrictions with 9.0, allowing you to roll a Blood Elf and join the Alliance with a High Elf look.
But since Blizzard was only misleading us with the Anduin, Saurfang, Jaina and Thrall dialogue in 8.2.5, this is no longer looking to be an option.
They are adding additional character customisation options for existing races though, which would allow you to make your Void Elf look like a High Elf potentially. But now I’m hearing these additional options won’t cover Allied Races, so it looks like us High Elf fans got the short straw again. Supposedly, Blood Elves are getting 40+ new options, so I really hope that doesn’t include blue eyes. If it does, Horde bias would be fully confirmed.
Anyway, since we know there are new Void Elves potentially being “created” all the time, with the Silvermoon Scholars and High Elf Wayfarers studying inside Telogrus Rift, I think it makes perfect sense to use Void Elves as a compromise solution at this point.
Give them 2-3 new skin colours that look a bit brighter and healthier than ther standard blueish grey, to reflect some elves not being as physically altered as others during the transformation.
Give them green and blue eye colours as options to reflect that both Blood Elves and High Elves are now undergoing the new transformation. Don’t give them golden eyes though, I think that can remain a perk for the traditional Blood Elf race dwelling near the Sunwell in Silvermoon.
With these changes I think everybody will be happy. Sure, it’s not a tattooed, ranger-type Wood Elf like Alleria, so some might complain it doesn’t go far enough. But I honestly think this is the farthest Blizzard would ever be willing to go. So let’s make it happen!
Blue eyes for blood elves absolutely makes zero sense.
They’re fueled by the sunwell which turns their eyes golden, or they were using the fel corrupted version and have green eyes.
Blood elves and the blue eyed high elves aren’t the same to give blood elves blue eyes. With how strict blizzard is in these regards, i doubt they’ll add that feature to blood elves.
And given the fact that void elves are exiled blood elves who studied void magic, It even makes less of a sense for them to get high elf blue eyes. Unless for some unknown reason, the high elves suddenly decide to join void elves and study their magic, which is highly unlikely and ridiculous.
Please just play your version of high elves and don’t ask for things that don’t make sense lore wise.
Both factions have high elves. Horde has 2 of them and alliance has one. And that’s it.
Please read my post before making uninformed comments. Like I said, there are High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon Scholars inside Telogrus Rift, studying the Void and (by the looks of it) being prepared for a ritual to become Void Elves. So it is already fully possible to RP as a “2nd gen” Void Elf which didn’t undergo the same drastic physical transformation as the original Void Elves who were exiled along with Umbric. All that’s missing is the customisation options to reflect this.
But given the fact that thinking high elves would suddenly join void elves was even more ridiculous. and those of them that study void and become void elves will be no different than the rest of the void elves. They’ll be influenced by the void which will change their eye color and skin color.
So i decided to ignore that part completely.
In general what you’re asking for is to give void elves, high elf appearance, by providing a terrible excuse and even less logical reason for it. Which i answered accordingly prior.
So you were not only proven wrong, but ignorant as well, and yet you keep pressing the issue.
There’s nothing to suggest a 2nd gen Void Elf would be as drastically altered as the first. A controlled transformation is something they would want to look for, so they get the benefits without any downsides.
ok. Let me give you your own logic in a different way to make you understand it.
There are people amongst the high elves who have friendly relations with their kin, the blood elves.
So now, what if we let them join blood elves, and therefore provide blue eyes for blood elves all of a sudden.
It make so much sense now.
See? It’s a suggestion fueled by the desire of forcing high elves into an already existing race. It doesn’t make logical sense, but i’m forcing it because i want high elf appearance for my blood elf. Now, change blood elf to void elf and that’s what we’ll get with your post.
2nd generation of void elves suddenly mastering void magic and having the appearance of high elves while controlling the power of the void? You know the whole purpose of alleria being able to do that was to point out her incredible willpower to be like this and to be an exceptional character in the grand scheme of things. To be able to fully control her void side (or at least, we think so. I’m still convinced she’ll screw up in the future big time). So unless now it suddenly becomes a common thing for every high elf to turn void elf left and right with full mastery over it, i don’t see how that’s not a ridiculously weak story. Even much weaker than the introduction of void elves, just so you alliance players could stop asking for high elf allied race, which didn’t work anyways.
The Golden eyes is a result of faith in the light, Blood Knights are supposedly drawing the light powers from the Sunwell but does so through faith and willpower… appearantly. Them drawing upon the light from the Sunwell is what turns their eyes golden.
Also, the Blood Elves never had a fel-corrupted version of the Sunwell. Their eyes turned green as a result of the green crystals you see floating around in Quel’thalas; which was used to empower the floating buildings you see around in Quel’thalas. Fel, however, permeate the area much like radiation and just by being near it you’ll be corrupted; this happened to the frostwolf orcs who never drank demon blood or had warlocks in their ranks, but still ended up green due to the many warlock surrounding them, it happened to the Blood Elves due to the fel crystals.
But I digress.
The Sunwell currently is a 50/50 part of Light and Arcane magic, taking that into account, and considering the very FACT, that the Blood Elves can get golden eyes by drawing upon the Light source in the Sunwell, it indeed stands to reason that the Blood Elves who draw upon the arcane would end up with blue eyes.
There are also Blood Elves who already have blue eyes, because they were not in Outland or in Quel’thalas. The Allerian Stronghold High Elves should lorewise have green eyes because they have spent much time in Outland.
High Elves and Blood Elves are not two different races - get this manner of thought outta way.
Sorry. too tired to make a thesis about this. so just 2 short points.
When i say fel corrupted version, it means fel corrupted eyes that turned green. I didn’t want to write 2 paragraphs about it as you were so eager to do so. But thanks for pointing it out anyways.
Second. Blood elves are high elves. But doesn’t mean they’re the only high elves.
In general, around the forums and so, the blue eyed elves are referred to as high elves, and the green version or gold who lived in quel’thalas are considered BLOOD elves. So when we’re talking about each version, understand that this is what we mean.
Void Elves look different because they have been forcibly altered.
Nether-Prince Durzaan changed Void Elves physically because he tried turning them into Void creatures, but was killed before he got that far, so the transformation was not complete. It has nothing to do with “mastery over the Void” or “willpower”. Alleria looks different because she wasn’t forcibly changed.
An Elf that studies the Void normally, will still look the same.
But I’d imagine the eye color would change due to exposure to the Void.
Kind of like how Blood Elves got green eyes from exposure to Fel.
Alleria studied the Void hundreds of years (time is different in the Twisting Nether) before she gobbled up that darkened Naaru.
She had been taught by Locus-Walker.
So normal skinned Void Elves would explain new Void Elf recruits and would be lore-friendly.
Though I don’t think they’d have the bright blue eyes of High Elves, as they wouldn’t draw on the Sunwell anymore.
Fine. Let’s give void elves blue eyes and bright skin. Name yourselves high elves, or basically blue eyed blood elves. Whatever floats your boat.
I’m done arguing. The fact that the overly ridiculous story of void elves wasn’t enough that you want a second layer high elf addition to it, is beyond my understanding and care.
We’re adding even more options for you to be able to express yourself in game through your character. Each race will have their own unique options available to them whether it’s their tattoos, hairstyles, skin color, or even eye color. The undead will also be able to choose whether they show bones or not. There are a wide range of improvements coming for Shadowlands, and this is just the start of providing more options to your character creation.
because it’s stupid. The entirety of void elf addition to this game was already stupid enough. It was a fan service.
Suddenly alleria shows up. Says she failed to make peace with blood elves, but found out about this group of cast out blood elves who practice void magic.
And anduin, the Light guy says, yea. A bunch of void fueled elves? Let’s invite them to the alliance, what could possibly be wrong here? it’s not like void corruption is anything big anyways. And then they’re like sup alleria. We’re alliance now.
And now you’re asking for high elves to join void elves which is a second layer of garbage storytelling added to the mix. Which makes me really angry.
PS: apparently i confused you with the main poster void elf. So consider the first part of the answer for that guy and this part for you.
As for your part of the answer, Again, we’re not talking about those who study void magic. We’re talking about those who use it. And alleria was supposed to be this unique individual who maintained her shape and form. Unlike the void elves. And then suddenly expecting a bunch of high elves to become void elves with bright skin was ridiculous.
It was silly to argue against catering to Alliance players’ requests for playable High Elves in the first place. No one is bloody harmed by Alliance getting High Elves, or High Elf-ified Void Elves.
I’ve played Warcraft games since 1996 and I’m sick of these edgy 17-year-old Hordebois attempting to deny me my Alliance High Elf Ranger because Ion said “hOrDe iS tHeRe WaItInG fOr YoU”.
