Welcome to SilentCraft 😶

Why would you ban people for racism?

If you’re bantering among friends and people who enjoy that sort of thing, you realistically aren’t going to get reported.

I wouldn’t banter with strangers, particularly via an in-game text chat, because the written word is often interpreted with a variety of tones and I don’t know what other people’s toleration for banter is.

Some people just want to get things done with as minimal fuss as possible, and I think that’s very reasonable.

I don’t assume that anyone in-game wants to hear my jokes, unless I’ve gotten to know them at least slightly and gauge whether they would want to hear it.

Entirely out of topic, but I requested my Skype data a few days ago since it is getting replaced by Teams. They sent me a 9GB tar file. The amount of data they had there was terrifying, little details from back in 2010 that I couldn’t possibly be able to preserve on my own.

On topic: The chance of getting banned is proportional to the amount of strangers your messages are exposed to. We drop regular f bombs and other local curses in guild and party chats and none of us has received even an infraction.

At the same time, some people need to learn that calling someone names is not constructive criticism, nor is dismissing them as inferior life forms. A lot of key pushers and PvPers do not seem to grasp that.

just /laugh

it can mean many things if you /point too

just as toxic without getting a chat ban

The blue post that Saneko linked pretty much confirms how it works.

People in the age of the internet have forgotten that you can’t talk to random strangers the same way you talk to your friends.

My rule of thumb is if you can’t say it to their face in person you can’t say it in WoW chat either.

people have thin skin
ever heard of the internet phrase " Keyboard Warrior " ?

i was there during 4chan at its peak, this is nothing

A forum ban does not translate into an in game ban.

You would have to do something that broke the in game rules.

I still lurk there from time to time, and yes thank god not every pocket of the internet is like 4chan, every 2nd post is a slur to the point that it isn’t even triggering/offensive anymore just it’s tiresome.

So who are the keyboard warriors in this scenario? The ones that can’t control their emotions and spew their vitriol at others or the ones that report them?

anyone with an opinion that proceeds to get offensive is a keyboard warrior these days

but back in 4chan days they would rip you a new one
