It looks like Blizz were intentionally vague about what will happen after the fresh servers roll over to TBC. My guess is that they want to gauge response to the fresh server and TBC onset before deciding on whether to have a permanent TBC era server and/or continue rolling over to WotLK and other expansions. There’s no mention of “TBC Era” and the only wording “TBC Classic” is identical to that used previously when the servers were destined to eventually become WotLK but I wonder if things could be different this time. There are people here, on the US forum and other sites who want another thing rolling through expansions, some want permanent TBC, some want permanent WotLK, etc.
What do you think will happen? I think Blizz is keeping their options open by being vague, personally I’m hoping we get an option to stick around TBC for longer than just a year or so.

Yes i also hope they make tbc era and choice to expand to a wotlk era too.
Ugh i dont wanna waste time on a character just to have it forced into cata or mop again
If they are smart, they make tbc era and wotlk era, and eventually 4 or 5 years later they can make fresh servers that you can retire on either of the perma servers by choice.
I guess most ppl dont want anything further than wrath again.

The problem is, we need to know that before even start fresh. I already have one lvl 70 character I stopped playing after classic-TBC progressed to classic-WotLK, I don’t want another one.
I think it’s only fair to explain the “rules” before the players commit to something.

If I had to guess I think they are going to see how these fresh servers play out, given there are some changes in place.
If they do well and the community makes enough noise about it I think a TBC era option would be created IF they decide to move onto Wrath. Classic Era already exists so there is no need to retain the servers as “vanilla”, so they could end up retaining them as TBC era.
Either way I’m excited to get back to outland, just means I have 1-60 to play and prepare for it. Win win.
Yeah this is my thinking. On the one hand I’d be happy to be back in Outland, like Lightsparks says, but on the other I’d have really mixed feelings if I knew that it was gonna be temporary and inevitably cast into WotLK and later versions after what might only be a short time.
I like Classic Era because I can (and have) revisit after a year or two spent away and it’s still just as it was. I wonder if Blizz is trying to avoid a situation where they cave to demands for TBC Era and then everyone else who still isn’t satisfied starts making noise for WotLK Era, Cata Era, MoP Era, whatever else.
Edit because I’m not allowed to double-post:
I’ve just been looking at the US forums. Blizz seems to be only really active there (blue tracker has many more posts, EU forums only get major notices copypasted from the US forums…)
Lots of people there are asking the same question as this thread is asking. If we are lucky Blizz will reply to one of them and hopefully assuage any doubts. It’s unlikely we’ll see any official activity here, unfortunately we can’t post on the US forums, unless you happen to have paid for a US sub at some point ant have a character at 10 or above.
If you do, add your voice to the crowd and see if we can get any clarity on what’s going to happen!

Yes, and this is stupid. Many of us will wait with committing to fresh → TBC servers until we know if we can stay/clone or whatever. For instance NO WAY! I’m going to re-roll fresh to ultimately be forced into Cata or stop playing for the third time around!

Not true; you can make a US trial account, level to 10 and post on the US forums with a live EU sub.
Good to know, thanks for sharing. What a weird workaround…
