What is wrong with retail?

The “older zones” are designed for flying since cata.

What about world quests and mats farming ? The Warmode quest ? Naz/ mechagon ?

Let’s look at out site content classic : mats farming , nothing

Neither does it in classic ?

Classic you log in , wait for summon , enter raid

Retail you log in , wait for summon / raid / mythic +

The worse part of retail is that everything is better… from software user standpoint. But gamers and software users are different things.

Retail is so streamlined to the point of making the whole experience a shallow: 1 run to the shiny/glowing thing, 2 right click to open/kill, 3 loot, rapeat from 1. Everything else is automated or readily available at 2 clicks max.

Classic is the exact same loop but with a lot of distractions trown in from time to time (Blizz and retail players call those “inconveniences”). It is more fun because they break the monotonous grind. Be it you have no bags space - no vendor mount at 1 click, but instead you have monotony breaker of running to city/town (same with trainers). Be it quest objective - no retail objective glow that hits your forehead miles away. Instead (even with Questie) you are required to explore this “inconvenience” called “word” to find the obscure book in that house that questie sent you in. And many, many more similar “inconveniences” that make the experience colorful.

TLDR: You solve the isues that the classic game trows at you (that is called playing) instead of the retail software auto solving your isues.

Wrong with Retail is that, it is not Classic. They are completely different games.
“Thr zones… the music… the story telling in Retai” is awful in my opinion.
It’s a cartoon with a toy store.

Maybe graphically. but not in terms of distance between Quests, towns and outposts. In this regard they’re not even dsigned for the heirloom mount.
Questing in starter zones is a joke in Retail. Just get on the chopper, run over the whole zone and level to 10 withsout doing more than one or two quests - and no need even to read descriptions of Quests, just follow that fat, golden arrow. Where’s the gameplay and immersion here.

Then just don’t use the chopper?
It takes more than 1-2 quests to level to level 10 in retail lol.

I stopped retail at the end of last winter, don’t know about some of those outside activities. But the one I know fall in the daily/weekly category that I abore. It also reminded me how much I hate the rng-loot that you now have.

In classic, leveling is a big part of the experience - takes place mostly outside

wPvP is also much more alive (fewer flight paths, no flying mount, no opt out pve/pvp shards, ressource farming)

Those two are mostly the reason why you spend much more time outside in classic than in retail.

Ofc if all you do is farm for BiS, you might have another experience. But we don’t have to play the game that way in classic (especially since there are no daily/weekly points to do… You are free to chose your programm everytime you log in, without the fear of missing your casino-loot of the week)

Then do normal or higher difficulties instead of LFR?

OH wait here comes “don’t matters cos I beat the same boss in LFR lul” that you cata-benched love to sat

I think flying mounts would be much less disruptive to game play if they had a cooldown. Put them on a 15 minute cooldown and they will become a long/medium distance travel tool like the hearthstone, forcing players to complete quests on the ground. The cooldown should also start from when you dismount. It shouldn’t make sense to use the ability for short hops.

I remember getting my first flying mount in TBC and thinking: “this is way overpowered.” I think I was right.

Things I like about Classic: elites & elite quests, crafted gear & tradeskills (and farming materials for making items), interaction with other players.

You are doing LFR content and want more challenge in the same time. Man, i really don’t know what to say. LFR is a demoversion for people who just want to LOOK at the content so they can decide whether they want to progress further or not. It is simple content for purpose, it is not meant to be challenging at all.

AP grind. It was slightly less worse in Legion because the rewards of grinding more AP made it at least feel worth it, but I could smell it a mile away that they were going to keep this grind mechanic in for the next expansion or two, and as all things WoW that stick around only get worse, not improved.

Becouse heroic/mythic is the only content that matters? You get rewarded to finishing it before the next raid (curve/ce) and plus on mythic is how the story of the raid really is (sinestra/ Ra-den/ Cho’gall all mythic only)

So no this that he brought for it’s just an excuse made by people that got benched by their guild in TBC or cata when they reduced raid size cos they are to poop at the game and their guild got rid of them ASAP

It’s like a movie: good looking eye-candy with awesome action and (supposedly) good plot but with nothing to invest in.

It is not a choice. Most people will always pick path of least resitance no matter of it is fun or not.

Yes they want mote challenge at baseline of game. Becouse if challenge becomes “optinal” most people wont touche it. Challenge have to be forced on players just like it is on classic. You finish content or you dont. There is no easy mod where you can cheat.

And? It is relevant excuse. Most people play to experience content no for challenge. Buuut they want process of experiencing content to be fun and challenge is aspect what can make this process fun.

If you would be actual good game dev you would know that you cant use challenge as motivation for most people to keep them playing. Challenge is used to make content fun not as goal for players. Goal shoudl be experiencing content.

So it is in retail ? I know many people forgot it. But for new players it still takes days leveling in the out site world. And for many it’s still magical. I have a friend who just finished level 70 and can’t wait to go to the next leveling zone.

What are you talking about ? People don’t even attack each other in classic , because everyone wants to level

Iam 100% sure that when you actively play world quests/ world pvp in retail you are more in the out site world. Since in retail the out site world never stops to be rewarding . While in classic there is no real reason outsite or farming

And you can’t choose in retail ?

Yeah , they tested that . Ghostcrawler made even a post about how people will not do challenging content if it’s the only avaible one.

That’s why Ulduar failed . That’s why cata dungeons failed

Sorry, I don’t understand how that is not considered gameplay? With that definition of gameplay, then almost no games these days have any gameplay. But OK…

Like I said, you can ‘actively control your character’ just the way you want. If you end up using nothing but auto attacks that’s on you.

Did you understand that what you wrote is the most ipotric demenand ever?

You want to have fun while experiencing the content? Do as every other normal people and JOIN A GUILD, Play with the people with your guild.

I dont do LFR, I don’t do normal. We just do one day for HC clear and the other 2 raids nights are mythic prog. We wiped for one month on Lady ashvane before killing her, but I still had FUN in it. This is what this cata-benched people fail to understand, you want th same engagement of a guild raid night on LFR? Do you understand the stupidity of it?

Instead of blaming the game why you don’t you try to improve yourself for some time? And leave this cata-benched mentality that most classic players have
