Tanks being scarce is a real issue but also one created by the community itself.
Aside from their behaviour and getting all sorts of abuse over the last months because people disagree with my routes. (Which are mostly the same as everyone else just adjusted for the tank i play at that time)
There is also the huge issue of the so called tier lists.
The last couple of days i get declined for keys by groups who are looking for 10+ minutes for a tank and i get whispers like: omg you no play monk or whatever else.
Or: looking for tank, only monk or paladin for “just” a +8 key
I try to play all the tanks across m+ seasons (depending on my time / interest) and i come across this a lot.
MDI / youtubers making tier lists of best tanks for M+ is all great and nice for those 1% plays and when it matters.
But your average joe doesnt need an s tier tank for a +9 or +12 key.
So far i didnt really bother too much with keys overall but get declined a lot and slowly working my way up towards the 15s and up.
Which should be doable with pugs aslong as i can find the time to play
What puts me off of tanking? People in general. I am more than fine tanking for my guildies and for my friends, like I always did.
Not for pugs though. I do not find the pug scene all that welcoming, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong. I leave it for people who like this sort of environment.
Not following the route certain players prefer you to do and expect you to know already like you can read their mind.
And ninja pullers make me angy, especially the impatient ninja pullers.
unless you play at20+ level your route does not have to be perfect. it really doesnt matter if its +2-5% killed extra as it will not be the reason why you miss timer.
the reason will most likely be :
a)overpuling and tank/healing being unable to keep tank / group up
b)low dps in whole dungeon
c)missed interupts in crucial point killing people/group.
last season i have had group where we had for example like 20 deaths in dungeon and still timing it . because dps was enough to offset all those failures.
so route is very rarely the problem . unless its like pulling some extra problematic packs - like the one people skip in early mists and similiar . (for love of holy i dunno why blizzard didnt nerf that pack already )
its early in tier. everyone who is not 2400 already is declined a lot.
unless you keep up with toxic io progression curve aka doing 17-18 s this week you are behind and getting declines.
it has been issue for years since toxic io exist - and blizzard implementing it into game brought even more declines and even more toxicicty . streamers promoting it and who now play ff14 are also the reason why you are getting declined .
want example ? my hunt which was 2374 last tier is also declined 90 % of time for +12 because i have "only " 900 score on it this season - aka it doesnt matter if i did 20s 2 months ago - now im below trash becaise im just 900 . so not good enough for 12s clearly
i dont mind - its one of reasons why 90 % of players left game so if i dont get invited in first 5 mintues i just log of and play FF 14.
Sounds like i am way behind on the curve. But i have already filled my 8 dungeons of +15/16 for the vault for this week, and 1 on an alt. I am not sure what the problem is.
i did that on two chars, even this toon, i lacked 6 tyran dungeons this week, since at first i had to prio my main, i will admit, as player who are used to getting instant inv, i did have abit struggle to get inv, but i manged to fix it! with use of my own key x)… now i got a top 21.
A lot of things , I have a very low tolerance threshhold naturally so odd are than someone run their mouth or spam warnings and than I let the group die or let the person die from aggro or won’t heal them anymore so my game are quite silent.
