What would make the alliance more popular?

In Blizzard’s view, you are being treated equally.
Anduin and Jaina are literally two of the biggest favorites for Golden, and it’s clear where she has done most of the writing.
Also Greymane.

Sylvanas, Nathanos, Anduin, Jaina - these are the big favorites among-st the writing team leads.

Someone gets it at least.

Take notice of it, the rest of you. You want to have wars and competitive battles against other players but when such things happen and the other half of the player base gets mocked annually, then it’s supposedly okay? Customer relationships are important. There must be balance - otherwise we don’t need factions at all.

you invite the mockery upon yourselves

that much is incredibly evident from these forums alone

i have no pity for you

Characters =/= faction.

Jaina being fawned over means nothing to alliance players that don’t care for her. Comments that directly suggest “alliance players suck at PvP” is targeted at individuals like me, even if in jest.

I don’t buy into the whole “your faction is fine because this one character” crap because it rests on the assumption everyone within the faction identifies with the character, which I don’t.

Im not asking for blizzard to stamp on the horde, but they very rarely if ever make the alliance feel good for being the alliance. It’s always attempted through individual characters. The horde conversely receives both individual character pushing and a strong sense of “what it is to be horde” being addressed as Horde generally.

When did it feel good to be horde? During legion we got leaded by the alliance. Our ‘warchief’ was nowhere’. In bfa our faction falls apart completely. Why do i really want to be horde?

Okay have fun with your one dimensional take on the issue because you can’t look beyond the fact my portrait has a blue background.

So what about the Horde who don’t care about Sylvanas? Do you think we haven’t been suffering either.

But the problem with the Alliance is the Alliance writing side - that hasn’t got anything to do with the Horde. Blizzard likes to lead the Alliance narrative with the Humans, whereas the Horde has it more diverse.
Again, this isn’t a Horde issue, and people need to stop making it out like it is. It’s a problem with the Alliance writing, but you’ve got Golden who leads it now…so have fun with Anduin and Jaina…

Easy solution…

Go Horde… oh wait…

While I admire lord Vrynn and lady Proudmoore, I personally believe that the Alliance cast needs more racial diversity. I’d love to see Ivar Bloodfang take a more prominent role. He’d give the Alliance some real fangs. :wolf:

The Alliance has plenty of races and characters that can give a more feral and savage side.
The Night Elves now
The Worgen
The Dark Iron Dwarves
The Void Elves - (banishing the Horde NPC into the Void…yes, the Alliance campaign in 8.0 remembers.)

But Blizzard fails to use them because they don’t fit their “Human” narrative. Again, this is a problem on the Alliance side.

You’re looking at it from the perspective of characters only

The horde is not the warchief.

You have a crap warchief, you emerge, you get an old epic figure back (Thrall), you come out the other side with renewed purpose.

Despite “winning” BoDA, Arathi and Darkshore, the alliance is currently just sitting there with Tyrande going psycho and the rest kind of just moaning about how the “war took its toll”.

Even if both sides got a raw deal, in terms of perception the horde is on a new horizon, the alliance is naval gazing and moaning despite apparent objective wins.

This is what I mean by alliance victories in other threads. We win, yeah. Then why can’t it bloody feel like it for once? The horde gets spanked and kicks out a crap warchief after months of abysmal narrative in BFA and the spirit of Orgrimmar is very much “we’re on the up” whereas the side that arguably won more, is busy feeling sorry for itself.

Look at it in terms of treatment of occurances, not the occurances themselves. Alliance winning is meaningless if it’s not treated or shown as a victory.

I mean several alliance players probably don’t even know the alliance won arathi and Darkshore. The game doesn’t actually show you this or give you the victory lap. Yeah such meaningful victory, being written down in a wowpedia page somewhere.

But all of them were used prominently during the Alliance war campaign.

I do think that the Draenei and the worgen need more prominent characters other than Velen and lord Greymane though.

And clearly, it wasn’t well shown was it?

A quest here or some mobs there or maybe a world quest or two somewhere…

I am not.

We got in Bfa a whole story where we had to burn a tree in a cutscene. Something MY char never would do. We lost our Saurfang hero.

There is no honor in the horde anymore. We are split. The horde is gone, together with saurfang.

Etc, etc.
There is 0 good feeling being horde.

Yes, this is one issue. Amongst others.

Thank you for actually trying to get it rather than “alliance tears go brrrrrrr” like way too many horde do.

I don’t think people get it, if the dominant and popular side doesn’t give a crap, the minority side doesn’t stand a chance, and then something will have to be done like XF. Horde should care about the alliance being solid opposition if they wish to remain a distinct faction themselves.

Just ignore the irrational ones who argue for stuff like “remove belf” because obviously that’s a room temp IQ take on the issue.

There is nothing badass about the Alliance anymore. The allied races are disappointing, just new skins of the older races except kul tiran, and the kul tiran race is just another type of human. The story has been horde focused since pandaria, the alliance have been push overs in the story for too long.

Racials only matter to those who care for a bit of an edge in higher end content. When first joining the game you don’t pay attention to racials, you look at who looks fun and cool. They would help if they were balanced more.

But the heart of the problem is the alliance are wimps, for example in this pre patch cinematic when Anduin just gets picked up and flung away like nothing and in a comical way, all I could do is laugh at it. And I have found myself laughing at my own faction for years.

What the alliance need is someone to come out from the alliance and rise to an awesome power and take over the story maybe even turn bad. The alliance needs another arthas or Illidan.

The alliance needs more thought into their new races. They need cooler designs not just almost all reskin of older races.

Well, that’s certainly an issue, and 'tis mostly due to lack of actual characters. The Alliance needs more characters admiral Taylor but for the other races. I’d say he had been wonderfully developed over time.

I didn’t say the narrative was kind to you, I said it wasn’t.

The horde is not split. The war council is formed with renewed purpose. How is the horde split?

The narrative was kinder to alliance but the consequences of that are dreary uninspired narrative without glory. Horde gets bad narrative but a victory has come out of it in terms of their place in the world. I suppose you won’t agree if you think the horde is split, but I don’t agree with you there. They’re not. The loyalists are gone.
